I doubt another KotOR will actually happen however, as TOR was supposed to be the non plus ultra of the franchise.

Unless you placed KotOR 3 after SW:TOR, and that'd be overkill to do with the MMO having 'just' released.

My quandary is the relationship over d20 system used in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Would Wizards of the Coast license the d20 system to EA in the form of the d20 Open Game License for Knights of the Old Republic 3? While Wizards of the Coast did not renew it's license for Star Wars d20 in 2010.
The conflict comes as Hasbro (owners of WotC) have just inked out a digital rights with Ubisoft over Hasbro's board games IP. Ubisoft losing the rights to D&D in 2011 still may still have some claim in the digital d20 system's games. Would Ubi allow EA a uncontested implementation of d20 that we love in Knights of the Old Republic. Is EA not talking about Knights of the Old Republic 3 as there are too many legal obligations?
Would a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic be as good without feat progression, weapon dice, to hit dice and attribute modifiers? I believe when you take the d20 system out of Knights of the Old Republic you are left with something akin to SW:TOR. " and like that, the magic was gone.."

I want a KOTOR 3 that ignores the MMO and the Revan novel. The Exile should meet up with Revan in the Unknown Regions, and they kick ass together. That's how it was foreshadowed in KOTOR II, and that's how it should be. And yes, there should be a happy ending.
OR, maybe you play as a member of the new Jedi Order being rebuilt by the Exile's followers (Disciple, Handmaiden, Bao-Dur, Mira, Atton).
Edit: I replied to this because it was on the first page. Didn't know the last reply was from 2013.

because of a dream I had of Kotor 3.
The PC is Revan.
After the battle of Star forge, Revan lost his connection to the force due to over usage of the force during that battle. Well Canderous, Hk-47 and T3-M4 are returning. The beginning intro will adjust according which ending you care thru from the First game. You will learn about overtime there is a death warrant on you and the crew of the Ebon Hawk regardless of what you did during Kotor 1. there are Sith Inflirators from the True Sith Empire that had seed the Jedi Council and they are a part of the reason that the Jedi Council didn't go to war with the Mandalorians. Also you will find a lot of nasty surprises. Over time you will find Star Chambers that are link thru time and space. Your goal is to destroy all of them and find the true origins of the Mysterious Sith Emperor. You will go to the battle of Malachor 5, for it is a critical Moment in time(yes it is a doctor who reference) and you will find a Sith and a Jedi Running after that Sith into a Time Vortex to the past. Well You end up finding that Female Sith was the mother of the Sith Emperor. in the past, you will have two options, kill the mother and the jedi and become the New Sith Emperor or take both of them to the Battle of Malachor 5 and Save the Jedi Exile.
Also Ajunta Pall makes an appearance and he helps Revan to re connect to the force again. Also an unique romance with Ajunta Pall for the Female Revans. Another Sith Lord is Darth Nihilus you can recruit. One of the plotlines that it is that Darth Nihilus helps fix the time line by destroying all of the remaining Star Chambers with a powerful thought bomb.
Side Note; You can develop your Jedi Exile thru out the entire Kotor trilogy and potential Romance with Revan if opposite gender. So you can ship a Male Revan with a Female Jedi Exile or a Female Revan with a Male Jedi Exile. Also As for Bastila Shan/Satale Shan relationship, no matter whom gets Bastila pregant, Bastila shan will be Satale's Legandary Ancestor.
Also there are a good balance of Romances for Revan regardless of gender. Also Revan will have one of his old students joining him. She is the only bisexual female Romance. And a Skillful retcon of Revan at the two flashpoints within TOR. Also any reference of Revan being a Hero during the Ebon Hawk leg of Jedi Civil War will be removed. And "canon wise" Revan would be consider "dead" as by Malak's hand as of the turbo lasers and Bastila would get the credit. And Revan would slip into the shadows forever. Forever alone.

Kotor 3:
After the events of SWTOR, Revan still exists in some ambiguous manner (Force Ghost or something, maybe along with Meetra Surik). Theron Shan and an unknown female have a Force sensitive child (Player Character) who ends up lost somehow and is raised among pirates and smugglers. Naturally the PC becomes a pirate/smuggler as an adult but eventually realizes he/she is strong with the Force. On cue, Revan shows up and becomes the PC's mentor, guiding him/her on a quest to discover the last vestiges of the Sith Empire and destroy them to ensure a lasting peace in the Galaxy (light side). Or find them, and gather them together and control them (dark side). Revan will likely say something like "It is your choice [insert name], just remember that every choice you make has consequences. I would be living proof of this... if I was still alive..."
Complications arise, ensue, and are overcome, all the while finding friends and companions to tag along. (among these friends and companions ought to be one or two companions from the SWTOR campaigns) A droid or two, maybe a Wookiee or a Talz, for example.

interesting
what are the 3 or more baseline classes?
What are the Force using classes?
If Revan, Jedi Exile and Theron Shan are not usable, what characters if you are planning to use to major characters from TOR or the Kotor 1/2?
What would Satele Shan react if Theron Shan made her a grandmother?
If there is no Revan as Mentor, whom would be the Mentor?
Is the PC an natural force prodigy with or without a Jedi Legacy?
Where does he get his Jedi Robe, lightsabers and other Jedi Equipment?
As for my above Idea, I have ideas how to deal with the 2 flashpoints with some humor and breaking the 4th wall. Yes making fun of people that are obsessing over Revan and a Kyle Katarn joke. Yes having Revan regardless of gender, shaving with a Lightsaber then Kyle Katarn steals it. Revan would be voiceless as in no voice actor but there would be plenty of humor both physical humor and his "lines" will be humorous as well.

Baseline classes would be pirate or smuggler oriented, perhaps one with melee skills, one with ranged skills and maybe a hybrid/jack of all trades type.
Force using classes would go the natural route with the classic archetypes once training with the mentor begins. I suppose it might be possible to rework the TOR classes to fit three (or six for advanced) to a side.
I hadn't really thought about specific characters, but you kinda need the droids. It's not Star Wars without a couple droids tagging along. T7-O1 and HK-51 would make sense, but I'm not stuck on them.
The Grand Master of the Jedi Order being a grandmother? Stranger things have happened. ![]()
If no Revan, then maybe Satele herself. Or we could change it up and be able to choose between two or more mentors depending on how you want to play, dark, light or gray.
Yeah, PC would be a natural Force sensitive regardless. Got a thought though, you could choose to remain your beginning class with its own advanced classes later on. You wouldn't have the Force training, so no lightsabers and no lightning shooting from your fingers, but who's to say you absolutely have to be Jedi or Sith?
Robes, Saber and equipment would come naturally as the light side, Force using option would have you be part of the Jedi Order with access to everything any other Jedi would have. The Dark side option would have you acquire Sith equipment from the Sith you're supposed to be finding.
I agree, humor would be a necessary part of any Kotor 3. And Kyle Katarn is awesome, but it'd have to be Kyle's great great great, etc. etc. etc. grandfather, since it would take place thousands of years before Kyle is born... ![]()

Ah. I see. There hasn't been a lot of time travel in Star Wars. So does Kyle travel back in time just to steal Revan's lightsaber?
I could see quite a lot of shenanigans going on there.

With My Kotor 3 overall idea, it is normal to expect a lot of shenanigans and humor and some degree of darkness.

They could just retcon all of TOR and the Revan novel into non-existence.
Then have the game have two PCs, the Exile and Revan, which you could import from the previous games. The game plays as them going through the Unknown Regions.
And of course, Obsidian makes it.

a follow up on your idea, TOTBG. Have two Kotor 3. One with Jedi Exile focused and Revan focused.
Off Topic: I had a dream that Kotor 1 was remade and Obsidian did handle Revan's memories quest. Jedi Exile, Atton, Malak, Atris, Vrook and New Female Jedi Shadow Named Seviole were heavily involved in the Revan's memory. It had Jedi Malak not the current Sith Lord Malak. Revan basicly recovers his memories and much of his knowledge in which buffs him/her in the main game. Also it did settle Kreia/Arren Kae debate and it was decided that Kreia and Arren Kae were two different people but they were quite close in everything. Arren Kae's physical appearance was a much taller version of Brianna and with insanely long and insanely thick platnium/white hair and yes she was considered gorgeous by other people. In the dream I had, Revan and Arren Kae were quite close very close and Malak was mildly jealous. Well it did end with horribly when Revan learns the truth of the Star Forge and the Star Forge "send" him away into the force and Revan manage to go into the normal time and depressingly started the Jedi Civil War. Revan's memories was a insanely dark quest line that parrallels the entire game and I do hope it does get added to Kotor 1 Remake.
And I do hope that Kotor 3 is written in such away that it retcon Revan and Jedi Exile out of the TOR and Revan.
Sidenote: I am not angry at Drew. More Like Disappointed with Frowny Faces that Merrill can do.
