I accidentally did both the Vartag and Dulin starting quests, and now i cannot finish this quest. Its the last one i have before the landsmeet, and ive spent 22 hrs on this character going back and forth between hard and nightmare, and i dont want to have to redo ALL of that in order to finish on this difficulty. Some patch should add a persuasion so that you aren't going to get locked out of beating the game...

You're screwed for that playthrough as you know, so you'll have to suffer all that again.
Seeing the trouble with patching a few achievements, I wouldn't bet on a fix anytime soon.

I'm in the same boat. I hope that they are working on a patch of some sorts. Any word if they are?

Yes, it's supposed to come with RtO on it's actual release date.
But in the currently available patch notes there's no mention of this issue being fixed.

In fact, I would like them to patch my "mistake." You see, while playing games like this, people like to try and complete all available quests. Unknown to me, and apparently many others also, this "mistake" causes a game breaking bug. Now, I do agree that some sort of consequence should be suffered for trying to play both sides of the party, but being unable to finish the game is just ridiculous. So yes, I do feel a patch of some sort is in order. Nothing major, maybe just a persuasion option, but something to let me continue my game. There should always be consequences while making decisions in games like this, but never game breaking ones.
