As long as there is real effort shown I personally will carry any game. If there is no effort shown (no gels or missiles) used it will depend on my mood whether I try or not.

Can you tell the difference between "I'm broke and I'm out of ammo and gel" and "I'm lazy"? Not without psychic powers or using a mic, you can't.

They are both the same to me in Gold/Platinum which is where I (and megabeast) play our games. I play the game for fun, so if I am not having fun why should I carry?

If my teammates are willing to use stuff by actually using it I will enjoy the game just fine. If you have nothing, play a lower difficulty and buy some before going into a higher difficulty.

Mostly, I am on silver, which means I need to play 4 games for every jumbo equip + vet spectre. It's not so fun. I've played a little on gold today. I hold up against reapers. Collectors...not so much.

I haven't been in Silver in a while TBH, but that one it wouldn't be a big deal for me to clear a game. In Gold I can do it, but I don't have fun if my teammates are not really helping. I also only do U/U/G or U/U/P, so it is a bit different since I don't like to use my best kits often.

Ever heard of lower difficulties? One silver is enough to get a JEP. There is NO excuse to go into a gold match without them. Period. If the greed for virtual weapons is greater than basic common sense, I will not waste my little spare time with cadgers. You know, I had to max my manifest too. So I know that it is impossible to ran out of them if you use your brain a little and learn how to use the shop. The start would be to buy recruit packs until the commons are maxed and after that veteran packs to max all uncommons. Side effect: Tons of consumables.

Oh, and if  one can't handle silver without consumables? There are only two otions. Too bad to handle silver at all or bad teammates that have a similiar stingy attitude. Common sense: If everybody uses their consumables when needed extraction wouldn't be a problem on silver. Mostly one gel or rocket  per person in an average pug is enough to get at least wave 10 credits.

Edit: Since this topic was about gold matches, I assumed that yoor posts were about gold matches, too, until I saw your original post. However, the principles are still the same. Playing bronze to max out common weapons via recruit packs first, then move on to silver and buy veteran packs until your uncommons are maxed. Weapon mods will be unlocked (very important) and consumables will stockpile so a player can step up to gold. If a beginner only buys packs that are not meant for him but for seasoned players, no wonder that he will be broke at some point. Despite the flood of new stuff over the last year, getting into the game is still very easy if you buy the packs appropiate to your status.

If the silver players would play as a team not rambo like they did when I was there you could all play without using any medigel very few missiles and all extract.  You really only need 2-3 missiles in silver maybe on wave 10. The games a team game but teamwork doesn't happen in most games it's like everyone thinks they are the masterchief and forgets they have teamates.  Bioware did us a diservice by fraking up the ai to discourage teamwork and camping strategies.  FBWGG at least taught players to try to work as a team.  I remember watching invaderones platinum guides last summer and how they held certain points on the maps and all did objectives together now everyone's out to be hero.

All I knew going in was that I should buy packs and that they should be veteran. No one directed me towards the lowbie ranks and indicated that those were what I should be going for. I found various builds for my adept and sentinel, though I still think Electric Hammer is underrated and deserves more love on geth.

I'm sad that my disciple will need to be put on hold for a few months. Of course, that assumes I just don't go back to a few other games and put ME3 on the backburner for another year. :(

As for Rambo, there are a lot of high-level players down in silver. It probably makes me more careless than I should be, but at the same time, my only other option is to stand in the back and be lame, which kills nothing.

When you quit, you are just as bad as the leeches you despise. Its ok to leave a lobby or a match already in progress. If I commit, I commit. I will use every last consumable to secure victory.

Its fun to show scrubs how to play anyway. I perform better with an audience.

At the risk of being "that guy", I don't recall you using "every last consumable" the one time I played with you. You bled out all over the place, and that was one of the worst experiences I've had in-game.

It was bad enough for me to take a screenshot to add to my collection of players I never want to play with again. Granted you were playing a level 8 character, but that's no excuse.

I will always try my best to finish the game, using every consumable in the process.  I can only control me, so therefore I deserve my best effort.  PUG games are one of the few challenges remaining.  I resurrect my teammates when they go down and try to help everyone to full extraction.  I know what I'm likely to get in a PUG, so it never bothers me.  Quit? Never!

I only host, and I enjoy the challenge of carrying 1-3 pugs. So, no, I refuse to just up and leave if they pugs suck. I stay and enjoy the pseudo-solo with free meatwalls.

In my honest opinion, everyone who's on bsn consistently, I consider them to be the best of the best when compared to ALL OTHER mass effect players, you guys active on the forums have access to optimal builds, strategies, etc in the form of multiplayer threads discussions. So I feel if players end up in a game I with a bsner, then the bsner needs to put the backpack on and gets to schooling.

Also @megabeast is that what you teach your son? That if others don't care and makes certain aspects of life difficult, then it's ok to not care also?

You of all people need to not have that attitude as a spectre and a father you're looked up to.

MY name is big daddy ZAE, and I will always carry pugs!!!

To the death...

I teach my son that video games are for fun and if you're not having fun then turn the F'n machine off and do something else that IS fun. If charity work is you definition of fun, more power to ya. If trolling is what gets your e-rocks off... that's great too.

Fun is subjective, as is tedious BS. I consider ThunderDome solos/duos an exercise in pure frustration BS and ultimately a waste of time... I don't enjoy it so I don't do it... but you and Disciple live in there, because you enjoy it. I'd rather play Gold with a melee Vorcha and some silly uncommon weapon for instance, because that's what I consider fun... yet you and Disciple frown on that. I have nothing to prove by doing gimped Plat challenges...

Different strokes for different folks.

I have a confession to make. A few weeks ago, I was in a platinum game (collectors/reactor) with disciple888, I was having a little bit of lag, kept dying over and over and over again, bled out at the beginning of most of the later waves. I was playing TGI with lancer X. Anyway, I felt really bad about that, poor disciple had to clutch 90% of the game with his asari sentinel until caineghis joined on wave 10 with his collector adept, he made it all the way, game took like 43 minutes. I just wanna publicly apologise for that dismal, scrubby performance, I don't know quite what went wrong, I'm nowhere near that bad usually, I just had the worst game ever, even though I had previously played a semi-decent platinum game alongside disciple. Sorry disciple888.

unfortunatetly it means you are going to have to do what a lot of us did, which is grind through bronze matches until you can play them blindfolded. Then grind through silver matches until you can play em blindfolded with pathetically weak weapons, by using more power based characters and level 1 ammo until you get decent weapons and you get your Medigel Ops Packs and Rocket capacities up from 2 up to at least 4. You should be buying lots of veteran packs to finish up all your uncommon items instead of trying to get the rare weapons. Yeah the store sucks, but its the way the game was designed, so suck it up, pay your dues and then you get to go gold.
