Now that I think about it, I did quit once. Got devices on Wave 3, so I went to do it, saw that my teammates showed absolutely no interest in it, they were all on the exact opposite side of the map. Got killed while doing the device, then waited (very unusual, I usually rage gel regardless of wave) for someone to pick me up. Not a single peep from the others so I just left.

Basically, if they suck, bleed out all the time, fail at ramboing etc., screenshake/flame, mess up power combos or play Jugg, I don't care. But if they suck, AND completely ignore objectives, then I might consider it.

And -speaking from personal experience - if you do that ^ being out of medigel, ops packs and missiles AND being broke at the same time stops happening pretty much...

edit: ah, hell! This was supposed to be under Phoenix's post. Stupid phone.:pinched:

I think the key thing from the OP is that it's not a "bragging" thread.

It's a "Hey, at least f'in try" thread.

If some random goes down going for the objective, I'll rez him/her. They were trying to help. If they rez me, I'll go out of my way to rez them. If they cover me while I'm doing an objective, I'll make sure to do the same.

But, and this is the crux of the OP, if the rest of the team isn't not even trying, why should it be left to the better player to just carry all of them for the entire match? There's a fundamental difference between clutching a wave when your team goes down fighting versus just being a credits ATM for leechers.

An example. A lower level, newer play wanted to try gold. He made every attempt to play it well. He didn't have the experience, consumables, gear, etc. to keep up in the game. But, they made it their JOB to rez people when they went down, do an objective, not camp the LZ, etc. I doubt anyone would not want to play with this person. Sure it's a bit extra work, but they are a good team mate. So there is a return on your investment.

Now, the converse. I found a Juggy, on FBW Platinum, hiding in the back lower corner with his Hex Shield up. The rest of the team was out fighting near the LZ. Really? You're a Juggernaut and cowering in the corner like a puppy? At first I though he was stuck or glitched. It happens. But no, he would just wedge his back into the farthest corner, put up his Hex Shield and pray no enemies came toward him. When they did (perhaps since I stood RIGHT NEXT TO HIM), he heavy meleed, was able to move around, and spammed Hex Shield. Next wave, right back to the same spot. I went back to my teammates. Didn't move rest of the game.

Now imagine an entire team of players like that and you are thrown into it.

Honestly. Would you stay?

Nope, I wouldn't. I've had matches where I'll drop into a silver lobby, players see BotB and switch the difficulty up. They do nothing except die......forget about my gear, I ain't staying with that crap!!!<_<

I'm just wondering how big the backpacks of all these self righteous people are. It's one thing to say you would carry, it's quite another to do it game after game. For the most part lobbies have gotten better, I see more alternate banners and usually more competent players but the bad randoms are generally really bad. How the F are you going to get killed every wave as a Juggernaut?

THIS.  People forget that some players have been doing it for over a year now.   And remember, we are not talking about a game with one bad player.  Most BSN'er would continue to play out that match for their other teammates.  Nor are we talking about a team with lower level players TRYING.   Again, most BSN'rs would help and even provide advice to get better.

As long as there is real effort shown I personally will carry any game. If there is no effort shown (no gels or missiles) used it will depend on my mood whether I try or not.

Can you tell the difference between "I'm broke and I'm out of ammo and gel" and "I'm lazy"? Not without psychic powers or using a mic, you can't.

Of course I can. Broke and out of ammo/gel runs for ammo boxes, makes some effort to stay alive, uses powers, attempts objectives (broke people need them creds), and generally tried to progress the match so that they can get them delicious Gold monies faster. Lazy doesn't.

Reading intent based on actions is actually something our brains are good at, since we're social animals. You don't have to be psychic to get a good idea of what people are aiming for.

Wow, you're a jerk for pretending to know it all (course not intentionally a jerk. But this is a jerk move. Don't do it please). As in how you know that they couldn't get to you? How you know they maybe they didn't want all the enemies rushing to where you are casue everytbody is there? (I know when devices are up I usually am on the opther side of the map trying not to kill enemies to they spawn net to device)

Also, you shouldn't of started the device with enemies clearly around like a noob & hoping other to hop to it ASAP without taking thenm out first. ... As in usually if I see no enemies in sight or hear them near, I most likely got enough time to to device. If not, I kill apearing enemy, repeat, and hope pugs stay are far away as possible.

"Oh they are newbies!"
LOL, here's a funny test that will make you rethink that moronic excuse. After a game, set the game to bronze after the others ready up. Notice how most of the "newbies" are immediately exiting the lobby.

"Oh but i don't have any credits to buy a JEP to restock!"
LOL, another of the excuses that make me laugh. Silver completion gets you enough to buy a JEP. Silver doesn't need anything. But doing silver without consumables is too hard you say? Well there's always BRONZE X2. Too lazy to do bronze? LOL

"You should be able to carry 3 worthless players or you should go back to bronze!"
LOL, most of the people here have already carried a lot especially when they needed the credits to max out their manifest and abandoning the match was counterproductive. Now, a hell lot have maxed out and no longer have a credit stake in the match. The ones who do are the bronze players bleeding out every wave. Do the sums. LOL

I have a confession to make. A few weeks ago, I was in a platinum game (collectors/reactor) with disciple888, I was having a little bit of lag, kept dying over and over and over again, bled out at the beginning of most of the later waves. I was playing TGI with lancer X. Anyway, I felt really bad about that, poor disciple had to clutch 90% of the game with his asari sentinel until caineghis joined on wave 10 with his collector adept, he made it all the way, game took like 43 minutes. I just wanna publicly apologise for that dismal, scrubby performance, I don't know quite what went wrong, I'm nowhere near that bad usually, I just had the worst game ever, even though I had previously played a semi-decent platinum game alongside disciple. Sorry disciple888.

It's fine he likes carrying people. If your not following him around as a jug/volus, a paladin when he's a biotic, or outscoring him you should be fine.

You know what...that is a might fine test to weed out leechers.

And to your point about JEPs.  I agree.  They can easily replenish their consumables.

However, you and I both know what really happens.  They get to 60K and blow it on a Spectre pack hoping to get their UR.  Or worse, get up to 99K and blow it on a PSP.

Disciple has trouble carrying me for some reason. One time, a game of ours took something like 55 minutes. I think this is why I don't get invited to his parties anymore. :P

It amazes me how people will buy a game when it's cheap yet can't be bothered to actually learn the mechanics. prime example, watch a puggernaught with no clue how heavy melee works die left and right. carrying someone like that isn't fun nor challenging. it makes the game work. that's when it's not worth staying.

Why don't you share with the rest of the class what he said? It won't change anyone's opinion of him since he already made himself look like an ass.

OT: I'll usually burn through all of my consumables to carry a game if the other players are actually trying. If there are a bunch of leechers, it depends on how generous I'm feeling and whether I have the time/patience to carry them. I have bled out early in really bad PUGs (like all 3 consistently bleeding out in the early waves) because I simply didn't want to solo wave after wave. If they expect me to carry them to easy credits, **** them.

Nah, he's just under the impression that the best way to do devices is to abandon the guy getting the device and draw aggro away. I always thought this was an odd thing that some folks do. Aren't you supposed to just form a perimeter to keep them safe? They shouldn't be the target for enemies to shoot at in the area.

Oops, misread one part. Thought it said he was on the other side of the map killing enemies.

Smart/useful teammates will protect the guy doing the device.

Yes. I want to know how the match turns out? Some very interesting results can come about that aren't predicitable if you stick it out. Like I story I will tell in a new topic soon.

I had a game like this yesterday I was using the Phoenix Vanguard Vs Collectors and on wave six after realizing that extraction is lost I went over to the heavily infested objective device and let the collectors eat me.
