Sometimes when you play with CaptainSauceMaster001, and he's killin' freakin everything in the time it took you to imagine killing it, the game gets freakin dull. I have died in past games through total boredom, since I'm forced to leg it towards situations I wasn't comfortable with to actually get some play value.
Following CaptainSauceMaster001 around can be really tedious. Oh yeah, you could say, the challenge is to take a kill off of him. Except when CSM001 is a trollkillshotter to boot.
Admittedly, I lol a lot watching Xcal play ME3 on youtube. But he is also a troll legend in his own lunch hour.
I have, at times, when I'm doing well. Not fired when I could of killed something easy. Or I let that Jugg finish his slower than slow melee kill, cos that same Jugg had a Banshee tea party while I tangod round glacier bombing mooks. Sometimes, it's good to think about team morale.

It's not my fault if they run off from the team and get sync killed. I stick with the team and revive all the time but they keep making stupid rambo solo moves away from the team and die somewhere far from the rest of us.And so on and so on. A pug almost never bleeds out under my watch but there's nothing I can do if they decide to run off on there own and get sync killed:mellow:Beerfish wrote...

It's more difficult to carry a team and have to lower ones strategy to a team denomiantor than it is to go into a game and solo. As a matter of fact I've seen more than a few games where the good player who essentially is just soloing actually causes the demise of the rest of the group. The players that do this often are simplynot as good players as those that are very good but also very team orientated.

Does this logic also apply to the PUGs who refused to gear up because they 'don't have anything'?
Because maybe they'd do more damage with some equipment and then their morale wouldn't be so negatively afffected.

I see your point... and I pretty much agree with it.
I mean... I attack spawn points, but I don't make it my goal to absolutely decimate things before anyone else has a chance to play the game. In fact... quite the opposite. I tend to casually stroll around the map all willy nilly and just kill whatever I run into. The only spawn I attack with any vigor is the first one. I WANT other players to pull weight... hell... I WANT someone to outscore me... I think that's awesome.

Huh? I find it hard to believe that many outside the BSN clique know any of you as the best of ME3MP. Heck, I'm on BSN pretty often and I don't know who they are - and why should I anyway?

So, you're saying that it is more interesting for you to have a leeching team and wipe wave four than having a player capable of carrying you? I can understand your point though, but I just don't get how watching on spectator mode is funnier than trying to find something to kill. I'd rather have them quite the game then purposely die and do nothing else the entire game. Besides, I rarely see players as good as you described in pugs.

Meh. The ammount of "effort" is purely a subjective point of view, you can say that they don't use gels, but perhaps they don't have or have only 1 or 2 available at a match, you can't say they don't effort but perhaps they are trying their best with their best shotgun (a Katana or a Disciple) that's not even at level X, and the list goes on and on. Unless I see someone running at an enemy hoping to get sync-killed (in a year playing i haven't found ANY example like that) i tend to think they are, indeed, trying. I think we have forgotten how HARD is to get good gear/ammo in this game thanks to the (in)famous RNG. Back when we started there was lots of less gear, weapons, etc.

Because you joined a PUG and that's the deal.
If you're such a genius that you can only play with experts, then host your own private games.
Otherwise, quit moaning, and work for your PUG team.

I tend to be pretty judgy about the N7 / promotions / challenge points stats in the lobby, too. It might not be the final tell on someone's skill level, but it's the only indicator you got with PUGs.
Another important factor is team morale. LordDavias is right that bad morale can make players do worse - hell, that's true enough for me. If SuperKillPwnageDudeOrLady3000 takes over 50% of the kills I feel like I can't get into the 'flow' of battle and I keep screwing up on **** that would be a breeze on a match with equal players. Also not reviving people who are easy to revive (not in the middle of a mob party) is a real quick team spirit killer, so I always try to make the revive. I've noticed people will definitely try harder and do better when they feel like the players have each other's back.
It might not matter much for some when it's 'just randoms', but for me it's part of the gameplay experience. ME3MP is very much a team game, in mechanics and powers but also in the ME spirit.

what do you count as leaching? I mean, virtually no PUG i encounter will use rockets or gel, and if not revived will bleed out. Quite often they will gel when its now too late, ie they are the last person and they dont have the skill to solo a wave.

These useless leeches have only Gel capacity 2 because they skipped Silver difficulty, and they're permanently out of Gel anyway because they buy only Arsenal Packs.
They don't use consumables because they don't have any, because they're trying to leech their way straight up into Gold instead of earning their way there through Silver.
Not that I can entirely blame them. Failing on Wave 7 Gold is quicker and more profitable than succeeding on Silver.
Anyway, I wouldn't ever quit the game, but if the team is wiping on Wave 3 I would almost certainly just give up and die.

I'm a pretty solid player, maxed manifest and everything, but i also encounter that. I mean i avoid playing too strong kits in general, and when you find a fully geared GI+Javelin X in Gold, or the much dreaded TGI+Harrier while either combo already feel like cheating on platinum, you know that you're going to struggle to even find enemies to kill.

That would be true except there are many GI and TGI failing everyday. Especialy GIs. And I don't get why people complain about good players using powerful kits. I'd rather have three Javelin GIs than three leeching Juggs. All about the e-peen (not intended to you personally though).

We're obviously talking about different scenarios here. I am talking about leechers - people who run towards a sync kill unit at the start of every wave, as per your example. I can certainly say that they're not putting any effort in and I've also had people say they won't gel because I look like I know what I'm doing and left me to solo numerous waves. What you're describing is a newcomer, and I have no problem playing with them regardless of what their skill level may be. In essence, I think we're on the same page here.
Yes, I can't quote for ****. Complete computer illiterate here...:pinched:
