I will start by saying I am not a typical whiner when it comes to bad PUGs, but this one was so epic I have to share ...

Over the last few weeks, I have been getting pretty good luck with PUG games; typically always 1 or 2 others will be solid contributors, making for easy matches

1AM Sunday (PST) - or late Saturday night. Got home from the party I was at, a few drinks in and figure, "hey ill play a game of ME3MP before bed"

So I equip a top level kit (GI/Piranha) and search for U/U/G .. land in middle of round 2 (Reapers/Glacier). No problem.

4 devices on round 3, no one else seems to be paying any attention to them, so I do them all, sadly I had to kite/kill several enemies away from the devices as no one was supporting me while disarming ... okay, only wave 3, not too big a deal ... One player was taken down and bled out after the first device was completed .. still no prob ...

4th round stars, and the bleeder goes down again and bleeds out. This is also about the time I notice one of the players point totals has only minimaly increased since I joined in 2, no prob .. I can take on the extra share of baddies (I am GI, hear me roar!) .. no point dude gets sync'd ... I clutch the wave, no prob

From this point forward, 2 people were using the 'bleeder kit' and 1 was using the 'no-point kit'

5th round goes smoothly, except both bleeders live up to their names, no prob

6th round comes along, and this is where I start to feel WTF?? .. escort, only 'no-point kit' comes to do it .. the other 2 die away from the escort and both promptly bleed out. The beauty of this is, before the one bleeders goes down, he missles a spawn away from the escort!!! Of course they spawn right in front of our escort ... me and 'no-point kit' get it done (he used a missile here, garnering more points off it than the entire time i've been in the game with him .. still kudos to contributing)

Wave 7, no pointer gets sync'd by first banshee, the other two drop before spawn #2. All enemies are now spread everywhere on Glacier. This ends up being a challenge, I am forced to use 2 med gels, 1 missile and 2 ops packs this round, but manage to finally get them all grouped up to be coming at me in single file down the ramp to the basement (where, being a GI, I easily took them all down)

Wave 8, amazingly all 4 of us survive until close to the end of the round until they all live up to their billed names ... no prob

Wave 9, 'no-pointer' gets sync'd by first banshee, the 2 'bleeders' again live up to their names .. no exaggeration when I say this, the 3 of them combined to kill a husk before dropping ... 1 husk ... ouch. Again, all the enemies are now spread everywhere, and I have two seriously PO'd banshees chasing me around the map as I try to focus on killing the mooks to clear the spawn budget .. after 3 more med gels, 2 rockets and 2 ops pack, I get the round clutched (same strategy I used in wave 7)

Wave 10, pizza delivery, I grab the first package, of course only 'no-pointer' tries to support at all .. you get 1 guess what happened to the other two ... before 1 of them went down however, he used a missile to wipe out a spawn away from the delivery (same player that used the missile in round 6; the only 2 consumables he used all match to this point). And the new spawn was between me and the landing zone ... ouch, there goes my last missile. 'No-pointer' gets sync'd, leaving me to solo the last package (which, considering the 'help' I had received from the 'bleeders' was probably a blessing) .. got er done

Wave 11, the two bleeders decided to try to stay upright, and when they went down (at least 2x each) they immediately gelled so they could get extraction .. ouch!

Bottom line, 38 minute Glacier match

Found out in the lobby, no-pointer was the host, he had an N7 of 50 something, the other 2 were N7 1500 & 800 respectively.

The only person from this 'team' I would welcome as a teammate was 'no-pointer' because he at least tried to help. The other two should be very ashamed of their performance. The most damning part is voluntarily bleeding out on wave 9 .. you're 1 wave away from getting paid, why would you rely on 1 player to clutch a wave 9 gold in its entirety? Should be worth 1 measly gel to try and get paid wave 10, or wave 6, or wave 3 .. I don't understand ...

Look, i've scored 200K in 4 man games before, but never with a set map and enemy (yes, they were pre-set) .. next highest scoring total was 36K

I couldn't even tell you what kit the 'bleeders' were using .. they spent more time bled out than playing. The 'no-pointer' was using a fury ...

apologies for the essay on this

PS3 Gold PUGs have been basically very awesome or very awful. There seems to be no middle ground anymore.

They don't exactly want to hear any advice, either, even if given in a nice and helpful manner. Case in point was some poor N7 29 that dropped into an U/U/G lobby yesterday. I don't mind carrying the new guys and answering any of their questions (and some have proven to be good teammates that try their best, that's all I can ask). We finish a match and before the next one, the N7 29 puts a Shotgun Rail Amp on. He has an Avenger and a Mantis equipped.

I say, "Hey, just as a heads up, that shotgun rail amp's not really gonna help you unless you use a shotgun."

Nothing happens.

"Just... trying to help you save equipment for the right time, you know?"

N7 29 readies up.

I left. That was just too much headache and my patience to try and help only lasts for so long.

The only positive was that at least he was willing to use equipment. That's... a start, I guess?

That's a big fat sucky game as with the other thread I would have been tempted to quit.  I've done it before when the other were taking the p***s.

Yes, Racer's ... this is what PUGging can lead to .. i've been spoiled by all the good ones recently

And the only reason I didn't just decide to 'walk away' and bleed out .. was that I was using my best set up and only have/had a limited amount of shotgun amps and AP IV's to burn ... I didn't want to waste them and not complete the match

If I had been using a different kit where I had a good supply, I would have walked away guaranteed on wave 9 after the two bleeders decided it wasn't worth their 1 gel to try and get to wave 10 ...

OK in a example as bad as this, this is where Megabeast's thread from today is prob quite relevant. You should prob have killed everything but the last enemy then gone on mic, told them to stop leaching, and commit suicide/quit match.

Which wave should I have done this on? Wave 4? or Wave 5? Or Wave 6?Or Wave 7? Or Wave 8 or 9 or 10? Because I could have done it on any of them

I'm actaully amazed they got thru wave 1 before I dropped in ...

Wave 7 is where you had to use gels and ops packs which the others did not. This is where you should bleed out and say on the mic " I could gel and save this match but if you can't be bothered , why should I ?"

Whenever you noticed that the two were leaching and you were clutching. By clutching like this, you rewarded the leachers.

Dragon you're too nice!;) I wouldn't have even bothered to mic up and tell em he/she's doing it wrong because the majority of the time they don't listen/want to know.

But to me it's worth it if it's the PUGs that DO listen and want to learn. And I have run across those, both with mics and without. It's actually almost more heartwarming to see the mic-less PUG follow your weapon loadout advice, shadow you, and then do well on their own the next match. I love that, absolutely. Takes me back to being a tutor in college... I enjoy helping others grow and improve.

That one just... I dunno what his deal was. That was the one I told you about, that spent half the previous match in spectator mode spamming me wth friend requests and messages saying "pls friend me". No. Just no. Sorry, kid. Not if you're not going to heed any advice whatsoever.

Now imagine trying to convince them to adjust equipment when your N7 is less than 120.

Doesn't work.

Xbox, it's goes from mediocore to nightmarishly bad. Awesome pugs are like bigfoot, you hear rumors about them, but never actually see one. No one in pugs ever on this platform is willing to listen to simply game advise like "that smg amp won't work on your striker", or "You may not want to put that spitfire on that fury".

All though a bit off topic, when one of those infamous CoD kids start running thier mouths, I imagine how funny it would be if there was already kinect 2.0 and while they are swearing every cuss word in the book, mom comes in and yells xbox off or what ever the shutdown command will be.

@Crimson Yea I've mentioned to Dragon before that she's too nice. My philosophy on randoms and hers are on two opposite ends of the map o_O

@Max Good job dragging those 3 to credits they didn't really deserve. Believe it or not it's these types of matches that can/will make you improve as a player.

I see that nothing has changed during the 3 days I've been away. Good job Puggers.

BTW I completely agree that Puggs on PS3 are either extremely good or completely ignorant to game mechanics.
