No more dirty suit rats in the universe. I call that a win.

You do realise it is fiction? You're not actually helping the Geth as they do not exist.

Because the geth are what people like to call the quarians. ***holes.

Geth could have left Rannoch and settled in the Far Rim, instead slaughtering living beings and stealing their planet and severely damaging them was more appealing. Damn right I supported Gerrel when it came time for payback, and Destroy was a lot less retarded than the GB cause geth can be recreated, whereas living beings cannot.

One thing Bioware did right was killing the Geth along with their Reaper overlords. Destroy is a near perfect situation.

If you do, all I can say is welcome to the internet.

I know. Making the Quarians pay for their crimes of genocide against the Geth is the ultimate payback. The best thing is that they never realized what a problem they actually were.

I wonder about that sometimes. Any time a game offers such a choice, there's always plenty of people making long and intricate arguments gleefully advocating slavery, genocide, and the like.

It's not confined to the internet, of course. There have been enough times where I've been in classrooms of people excitedly advocating some racidal unconventional attitude or perspective or whatever. But the moment they step out of the classroom, they always go right back to the habits they just condemned and scoffed at, don't they?

Ah the usual geth/quarian debates.

For the record Rannoch belongs to the geth in my game. Don't regret it one bit.

I'm just doing the same thing they do, with a pro-Geth slant.

Rannoch is good for the story in that it's a hard choice to choose from because both sides have done some atrocious things. Ultimately , I personally hold the Quarians responsible for the entire mess. All though Rannoch is good from a story perspective, in-universe, it never should have happened. Everything I did in ME2 basically makes the Quarians look like complete idiots in ME3. And if I had to choose, I'd take the technological advances of the Geth over the feeble Quarians. The Geth can dedicate 100% of their population to the war effort. The Quarians can't. The Geth have powerful technology and materiel. Time and raw resources are the Geth's only real limitations. In the fight against the Reapers, they're the obvious choice for me.

I make peace. If I had to choose, I'd go with the Geth.

Why don't the quarians stop being idiots and try to take another world instead of getting their asses whooped again?

You got me; it's all an act. I don't really have the "radical unconventional attitude" that machines aren't people. IRL I frequently hug the microwave and tell my iPod it has a soul.

These arguments are very tedious. The quarians are not idiots, and Tali makes it clear colonizing another world would likely take hundreds of years instead of decades.

Wait, the Geth did settle the far rim, the Perseus Veil is part of that area.

I just don't understand at all, really. The geth gained sentience and some of the quarians wanted to shut them down. Eventually, they held more power than the sympathisers, but the geth rebelled before they could be effectively killed. There was war. The quarians lost, and fled, and the geth let them leave. Most quarians seem to either despise the geth or favor conflict with them if the quarians see gains from it. The last three hundred years has been a cold war.

So why should the geth give the enemy back their planet?

Well, the Quarians have tried. That's the path I personally advocate, at least for the time being. Not a permanent colony, but one where they can lay low and stay out of trouble while I sort things out with the Geth.

The issue is that the Quarians would pretty much be confined to their suits for several generations. There's another issue. The Quarians are desperate for resources. It's going to take a energy and resources if your entire species is spacebound in a hodge-podge of old, decrepit, and decaying ships, and that's at the best of times. The Quarians do need another planet, but as I said, not just any planet will do. Even when they return to Rannoch, the Quarians will stay face a very long period of readjustment to the physical conditions on the planet.

The thing I don't get is that they never really try to make peace with the Geth (especially after I learn that it's possible in ME2, even taking Legion to the Flotilla and telling the Quarians about it.)

Even the presentation of the Rannoch arc in ME3. It'd be even more ambiguous morally (which I would really like) if they showed the Quarians in a desperate panic for resources which causes them to attack. Overall I think the whole war was a ridiculous waste of resources for both sides.

As it is, I find it very hard to sympathize with the Quarians since their actions seem more geared towards vengeance over the evil machines who we consistently keep ignoring when they say they're willing to talk of peace and allow for the reunion of the Geth and Quarians on Rannoch.

Well, we all have our problems. That said, I guess you'd be fine to call me a little unhinged. BTW, I was exhibiting more of a sociopathic tendency.

Whatever floats your boat. I don't care what you do.

Btw, did I say you were offensive? I just said that you were being you. As usual.

Far Rim is a whole different star system.

And as I said, the geth could have just left if they had the upper hand rather than taking a whole planet hostage. Geth, while sentient, are machines. They can rebuilt and repaired or at the very least, uploaded. Sure the personalities could be different. And shutting down programs, genocide? Really? LOL

For the Quarian supporters it's mostly about Tali suspect. (at the core of it all)

Wanting their Shepard to build a home with Tali on Rannoch. Living there, growing old and feble. On a world where all Shepards food and medicine would have to be imported or grown in special "Vats" because Shepard isn't Dextro.
I'm guessing the Oxygen is breathable at least.
