Was the Krysae in debut form truly overpowered?

Used it rarely though since I didn't like its mechanics... regardless of its OPness.
It created bad habits of generally not aiming properly .___.
But since I got a taste of its original RoF, my krysae won't see the light of day again. (too much rage clicking)

thats why I didn't use itMuhkida wrote...
The only bad thing about the gun was the occasional "missing round per clip" bug. But that's mainly because you didn't have to aim and just mash with damn thing.

Along with cloak's aggro passing capability, you were untouchable. While your team mates were running around being chased, you simply used them as concentrators to gather enemies then area attack the lot (bit like juggernauts now).
The 3 or 4 gold games where i used it was very much a funny experience until it got kind of boring though the credits were easy. And to top it off, i was doing it with the krysae ONE (just unlocked at that time).

...trouble is, it took 3 shots to kill 3 cannibals, and you didn't have to aim. On Infiltrators, it was definitely a roflstomp for even vaguely skilled players.

That thing would just turn masses in to meat chunks.
I think increase in RoF and a qicker zoom without touching the dmg it now has wouldn't make it OP and the gun would be usable again.

Yes, on a Geth infiltrator it was an abomination.
I feel like both him and the other infiltrators were more to blame for the Krysae nerf. Hell, nerfs in general. Eighty percent damage increase with all weapons is no joke.

I used it back when I was playing PUG Silver and really hated it. The Javelin offers a similar capability but way more powerful.
The Javelin's also Ultra Rare, Single Target (albeit w/ extreme piercing capability), and weighs about as much as a small elephant.
But, y'know....apples and oranges.

I didn't get to play MP in the days when the Krysae was first introduced, and with all these nerfs, the Krysae is an underwhelming weapon without a real niche.
...
It does have a niche now - it's still pretty good on Infiltrators (particularly the GI) as a sort of sniper-ised Falcon; load out with Incendiary ammo and exploderise mooks as they spawn from the other side of the map. Like the Falcon though it's less than ideal vs bosses.
The problem is that wasn't a niche at launch, that was instant win mode - it would chew through everything if you strapped it on an Infiltrator: high damage, high fire rate, 3-shot clip, air burst detonation and very low weight combined with all the damage buffs from TC (including the SR damage buff at tier 6).
It was so OP on Infils that most PuGs I played had 2 Krysae/Infils in and I regularly dropped into 3 Krysae/Infil lobbies... and in those circumstances your best bet was to either leave the lobby, switch to a Krysae/Infil yourself or let the game start and go make a coffee or something (great if you were a leecher I guess).

Although, I do admit....when we failed the weekend op and Banshees would spawn with Geth (or any faction really). It was quite hilarious to hear newer players who were using the Krysae/Infil FBW farming build to scream, "WTF is she doing here....this is suppose to be GETH!!!". Then hit their cloak and run around the map like an idiot on fire.
Good times...

I actually got tired of it though even before they nerfed it because it made the game boring after a while, and it required no skill at all to use.

Good times indeed
If I got into a lobby with farmers I would make sure to kite the Banshee to the back of the room so it would end up behind them. Was fun to see them using all of their medigels in one wave because the line broke down and they ran around like beheaded chickens. People need to learn to hold the line!

It took several nerfs for the team to notice the Tactical Cloak is the real problem.
To be fair, the fact that the Krysae is a Sniper Rifle, and therefore benefits from the TC tier 6 SR bonus as well, didn't really help matters.
Huge spike damage on "one shot, one target" (unless they line up for you) weapons is absolutely fine; it's great against bosses not so good against mobs.
Huge spike damage on the original Krysae (high damage, good RoF, AoE air burst detonation) really, really wasn't; it was amazing vs everything especially as you could get all 3 shots into a single decloak bonus window.
