For some reason people say PC players are more mature than console ones and so it seems, not trying to start a console war, but a lot of people say that.

The guy who creates more stupid posts than anyone I mean seriously how many times have you retired now Redjohn??????  Pc players arent anymore mature than others around here.  Theres a thread with one of your master racers with 20 billion credits and challenge points in 39 hours on the front page right now.

Isn't what we're doing here sort of an ad hominem? I mean, the biggest arguments we've had against him was that he is [in this thread] a hypocrite or that he is [in this thread] immature, but that really doesn't disprove his argument. Isn't quitting early usually considered a bad practice, along with bragging about your video game skills?

(though if this kills the fun, feel free to ignore it, lol)

It is a bit of an ad hominem but think about this. The ad hominem attack was actually done by the OP himself. He ruined the credibility of his own argument by attacking w/ a homophobic slur. Someone told him to go to bronze implying his skill wasn't great but that really didn't seem as great an offense as his retaliation. It's the case of the cure being worse than the disease. He could've been the more mature person & ignored it and focused on the relevance of his argument. The link to his previous thread simply served to reinforce the damage done.

Now as to whether quitting early is good or bad, it's good for a couple of reasons:

1) it's generally a waste of the joiner's equipment to carry, especially if the team wiped in wave 1
2) it frees up a slot for someone who doesn't feel the same way as the quitter & thinks he/she can carry
3) the quitter doesn't waste his time on what he perceives as a lost cause & moves on to a more productive & fun game

Now as to bragging about your l337 5k1llz, it's good & bad, depending on intensity:

1) a person saying "I got 'x' amount of kills" breeds competition amongst players, forcing the others to do better and elevate the level of gameplay
2) a person saying "I'm the best at killing, f4gg0t" breeds contempt amongst players, because it implies that no one can ever surpass them along w/ a glib insult. While it also breed competition, this one has more hubris attached to it, poisoning what should just ultimately be a fun game.

As the saying goes, "There's a fine line between confidence & arrogance."

It's mostly because average age of PC players is higher. Back when I played WoW, average age in our guild was slightly below 30. Doesn't mean we act mature, but the potential is there.

"You might want to read my manifest, strange."    Not really.

I'm starting to think it was a slur. <_<

Maturity is overrated mostly by uptight people with sticks shoved too far up their anuses. Have fun in life and realise this is only a freaking game.

I don't care if people bleed out.  If the host leaves though, that pisses me off.  "restarting current wave..." Yeah I've never had that happen, it always dumps me out of the game.

Granted, it doesn't happen often, and it's just as likely to be the terrible EA serves as somebody being inconsiderate.

FateNeverEnds wrote...

So quitting a game because
everyone's dead for the 3rd wave in a row is douchey and mean, but
bleeding out on purpose in the same situation is cool.

Did I get it right?

Well yeah, you get credits if you bleed out.[smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie]

Yet here we are arguing over whose thread about bleeding out was right.  We have pc players saying they are more mature.  Half the posters on here must have stick up their arses then.  and then thers the spectre clan that gangs up on every who dont agree with em just one like the kids at the playgorund did in jr high. This forums a big joke anymore.

There's few things I care enough to debate.:D I'm way too relaxed to really have a back & forth most of the time. In my experience, it ultimately degenerates & rarely are peoples' minds changed. If people like what I say, cool. If they don't, cool. Everyone's got their own thing goin'. Now, philosophizing about the nature of the universe, space-time, multidimensionality... I must sound like some stoner-hippy. I personally revel in the times where those Jehova's Witness folks ring at our door. I have lost of fun dissecting their argumentations every single time. In fact, I think they use me as training, because I always get the same experienced member, but always a different new one that's doing the talking.

I think I am somewhat like our local branch's final exam.

I don't know that anyone is actually arguing at this point so much as laughing at the lunacy of the OP. I didn't know that having issue with a hate mongering idiot was a spectre exclusive thing.
