I wish there were more funcitonal-looking armor sets that contained pouches for soldiers to carry ammunition and other equipment.

Cases in point:

I am glad that Bioware (sort-of) got away from the overly-stylish and somewhat dysfunctional armor aesthetic of ME1.

And although this is off topic, I am still trying to wonder why Kaidan could have Spectre armor and Shepard could not. <_<

Huh. Now I want to see a militaristic beauty pageant. Thanks, agent Cooper.

This is why I favor using the arms and legs from the Hahne-Kedar armor set, but you're right. It would've been nice to have some Spectre stuff available.

I thought Kaidan's From Ashes Armor was a alternate version of his default armor

I sure many of us are outspoken about our opposition to the blatant sexualization of females in ME2 and ME3. But who would actually prefer a more militaristic art style? I certainly would, but it may run the risk of making things look boring and there may not be a whole lot of distinguishing features between male and female soldiers. Case in point, look at what male and female soldiers look like.

Female:

Male:

As one can see, not a whole lot of difference. Similar to multiplayer, in fact. Would you prefer this on squadmates? I honestly would, as I see no reason for Ashley to be wearing that kind of suit. Miranda is an even bigger offender.

EDIT: What I'm not asking for is to copy and paste current miltiary fatigues and uniforms. As people have said, that would be boring and we have enough modern military FPS around already. To borrow a phrase from another poster here, I'd say a "happy medium" would be the N7 Demolisher armor. It's a set that's distinctly feminine while still looking practical and functional.

One of the thing's BW did was devise a 'look' for ME. That look became skin tight clothing. And in many ways it's a shortcut. It's like comic art where the artist draws the character model and then adds little bits and piece's to give an illusion of depth while just drawing lines over the model and using colout to denote leggings and tops.

Okay, the analogy isn't quite there. But I believe the art style was intentional. And rather than blatant sexualisation of women, the art style, rather, could not hide the fact that every woman and man was ripped, curvey, and was not struggling with a cake fixation that piled on the weight.

Some exception's. Krogan being one. Maybe Rachni? Who can honestly tell? But given that these models and their clothes can be, by and large, superimposed over a like for like model's, it makes sense.

Interestingly, their are some calls for BW to allow character customisation to give the PC a gut. HAHAH!!! Tubby Shepard will be mine! Sooooo much to love!

You could say the men were sexualized as well.

I knew Garrus' armored collar was cut much lower in ME3.

Why don't you take a look at Jacob. Kaidan is sexualized in ME3 as well. And for a main protagonist, maleshep is pretty sexualized too.

What exactly do you consider to be sexualized in terms of a man? Are you attracted to men? I'm attracted to men and to a less extent women. I consider the female character's outfits to be much more sexualized than the men's to the point where I end up admiring the female character's bodies more than the males when in reality i mostly prefer men. This being mostly because I can see more of the female character's bodies than the male characters, or the context of the females is usually more sexual than the male characters.

I find myself looking more at Jack, Liara, Miranda, and other female characters bodies more than that of the male bodies mostly because they are presented more. When I finally do get to see some sexy male skin, I snap back and realize that I really do enjoy seeing that way more than the female character bodies I see constanly. The avina terminals even are that way. They are pretty much just reskinned naked asari.... I looked carefully.

And I don't consider maleshep the be sexualized simply because he has a cut body. A lot of men seem to think that male fantasy of a strong good looking male body = sexual female/gay fantasy, but it doesn't. Just because he looks like a power fantasy, does not mean he is sexualized.

Lots of men think james is sexualized, but really he is just a male power fantasy that men admire and assume must be sexy to people who find men attractive. But that is not true. Women/gay men like James because of his personality, not because of his body. Most of the fan art and erotic fan art of James shows him with less muscle and more facial personality.

This really has nothing to with what I as an individual like, but the way the game presents the characters and while the male charecters were not as sexualized as the females they were still sexualized in their own light. And I don't think you have any idea, James's personality is most definitely not why people like him romantically.

These outfits are all very sexual.

Overall,. except for Liara's lack of a helmet, I liked the armors in ME3 well enough.

Ash's uniform, however, is laughable. Seriously, who thought that was a good idea? Just give her a regluar Alliance uniform like every other officer, including Shepard!

Ash's uniform on the ship is fine. think it's a good idea. And her heavy armor is fine.

I don't find those outfits to be sexual nor erotic.

Now lets take a look at the french rugby team.

Those are some erotic "outfits". They seem combat ready to me. Put some breather masks on those hotties and they are ready to go into the derilict reaper for sure. mmmmmhmmmmmm.

Jacob is arguably crossing the line a little bit. Compare his chestplate with Kaidan's.

This seems like a better uniform design for Ashley

The sexy line.

I don't know how sexualized jacob is because I never found him to be romantically or sexually attractive. He is the least romanced option and was so unused that they just wrote that he left shepard for another woman.

When the outfit is supposed to go "I'm ready for combat" but instead says "Hey look, this character is sexy!"  yeah, it's a problem.

If you're watching a courtroom drama, and the lawyer's wearing swimwear, how seriously are you supposed to take it?

Uh, his chestplate looks like they're molded on and skin tight. The contours of his pecs are really obvious. Compare that with Kaidan's.

So it's not a problem then? Because the outfits are not supposed to go "I'm ready for combat."

I've seen it around quite a bit.  Yes, it would have been much better.  A lot like Shepard's outfit with the N7 hoodie

So why can't she get the kind of formal dress that we see on other Alliance officers? That suit looks silly and out of place. Doesn't seem to fit the setting, and it certainly doesn't help that other Alliance officers don't wear that.

I'm simply clarifying what I think Sashimi_taco mean by "sex line." Up to you if that's a problem, but I personally think it looks silly and not very practical, and certainly more sexualized than Kaidan's armor.

He's not wearing armor, he's just wearing a cat suit like miranda's. I think bioware tried to make a male version of miranda but it didn't work out because they are missing the mark on what a sexy/skimpy outfit would look like to be appealing to people who are attracted to men. Jacob is supposed to be the sexy alternative to miranda but he just ends up not having a human looking body. People are used to seeing proportions like Miri's in the media and in life, but Jacob's body proportions are just past what is realistic so it ends up looking unnerving.

Edit: i like the ashley pic. I did not like her style in me3, but that was mostly because I could not see her face because of her hair. It really bothered me a lot. Half the camera angles blocked her face, and her lips were so full they ended up looking stiff.
