No, but they sure as hell aren't nothing, either.

I think it's completely wrong, and would be an extreme disservice to characterization. Characters should look like characters, and not like grunts.

Seems like I have to repeat myself again.

Armor adds to appearance, but appearance isn't solely defined by armor. Not only that, just because a set of armor share the same functional style doesn't mean they look identical or indistinguishable.

Armor can share a general style or template but still look different and distinctive without being identical and certainly without having to add sex appeal.

The skirt was silly, her hair should've been up, and the makeup needed to be toned down.

I like the casual appearance AK posted well-enough, but I think it needs a little more of an edge.

What kind of edge?

If you want to try and kid yourself into thinking that sex appeal is some sort of evil that you're just too mature for, you can repeat yourself all you'd like. But it's not going to do a thing to convince me.

"Armor can look different and distinctive without being identical." Yes, if something is different and distinctive, it's by definition not identical. Maybe you should take a second look at that.

Holy fuck. Okay, I'm done here. And for the record, I never said sex appeal is evil. I think it's poor taste and ruins my immersion. If we just can't reach an agreement, then I won't waste any more of our time.

Oh, I very, very, very seriously doubt that. Far more likely you either simply don't understand or aren't willing to admit what sex appeal actually is.

Here's a hint: It's a hell of a lot more than just boobs and muscles.

There is nothing wrong sex appeal, but characters running around wearing outfits that nobody would ever wear is kinda silly. Not to mention that most of these characters are already "hot" which that in itself gives them sex appeal.

What outfits are we talking about that 'nobody would ever wear'?

Okay, seriously, please enlighten me. What is sex appeal?

Anything that makes a character or person attractive. Which is a lot.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen someone intentionally walking around with a massive wedgie.

I in all honestly have no clue who or what you're talking about.

That's called attractiveness, not sex appeal. That's based on the ability of a person to attract erotic or sexual desires within a person. While it's different for everybody, there are general variations that tend to be seen by the majority of the population. Large breasts and defined muscles are seen as desirable traits for a sexual mate. Form fitting clothing that accentuates body curves and is worn more as an adornment for the body.

That simply isn't true at all. Eyes, lips, skin, hair, teeth all play a role in sexual attractiveness. In fact, there really isn't such a thing as 'sexual attractiveness' as if it's some sort of special subset of attractiveness. There's just attractiveness, period.

There is no fundamental distinction between the attractiveness of say, breasts, and the attractiveness of other features not generally considered sexual.

I prefer it when characters are more standardised and less stylised, like in the first game, it makes it seem a little more authentic and 'real'.

Nothing wrong with more stylised character models like the later games have, but I don't think it's necessary and in some cases I think it was a little unnecessary.

Am I really the only one who isn't bothered by the outfits in ME2 and 3?

I mean, I nitpick the minor details, but this is a point where even I stop and have to ask "who gives a f**k?"

I'm not bothered by it at all either, the human body is a masterpeice, there's no reason not to show it off. But feminists always seem to have a problem because apparenetly the game is oppressing women by "over sexualizing" them.

Yes, those all fit under the ideal of sex appeal. That's not what I was talking about.

If an attractive feature is a sexually appealing feature and vice-versa, then what distinction is there between attractiveness and sex appeal?

Yup, Samara's blueberries practically popping out of her outfit is totally empowering :P

Is that what we call a provocative question these days? "Trolling"?
