Just a hyphothesis I was thinking about from the Control ending. After looking at the slideshow of the Control ending, it shows the Citadel is still above Earth when fully repaired. I think this would give Humans the advantage of becoming economically strong if they control it. And if your Shepard was pro-human like mine was, those ideals could carry on through the AI replacement.

In my ending instead of using the Reapers to simply put the Galaxy back the way it was, the Catalyst ensured that Humans would take their rightful place as the Illusive Man wished it to be, Safeguarding the Sol System form those who wish to usurp it again. such as the Turians and Krogans.

So, by "those wishing to usurp [the Sol System] again," you mean nobody? Since nobody has actually done that?

Mmm. That's probably not the word I would have used. 'Usurp' usually implies something like a coup. The Reapers don't want to rule Earth, just kill everyone and leave.

In my post control galaxy, the Reapers pretty much became the Keepers, people don't really pay them much mind as they go about performing their mandate.

My Catalyst-Shepard understands that Synthesis is inevitable. It decided to cooperate with the Leviathans to improve Synthesis mechanics. Synthesis was applied in the very careful manner, so people believed they achieved new properties and abilities themselves.

Just the type of comment I was hoping for.

After destroying the reapers the top scientists that had worked on the crucible transferred the FTL technology to some of the remaining fleet ships.

The Citadel was then repaired over Earth as seen in the slides, and the increased speed of the fleet allowed for more timely repair of the relay network, core systems first then working out to the Terminus system and beyond.

Monument to the Geth was placed on Rannoch and the Citadel.

All races that helped in the defeat of the reapers were given a spot on the council.

@tickle267: Where's that quote in your sig from? Sounds interesting...

OP:
The long version is the Invictus link in my sig.

The short version - after repairing the Mass Relays, the Shepard-AI left the galaxy to decide its own fate. The Citadel remained in orbit above Earth, primarily because no-one knew how to move it. The galaxy had a chaotic time picking up the pieces after the Reaper War, and was left in some confusion over what the Crucible did, why the Reapers suddenly stopped attacking, and what happened to Shepard. The geth made slowly progress in making peace with the Council races, and integrating themselves into society.

Then, 13 years after the end of the war, a Reaper probe came through the Citadel Relay, broadcasting a single word:
"Ash."

After the Destroy ending, the fleets at Earth worked towards survival. The Quarian liveships kept the Turians and Quarians alive long enough for more permanent steps to be taken. Study of the Reaper corpses allow for fast and efficient conventional FTL drives, and within a decade, even the Quarians make it back to their homeworld, and work on rebuilding the relays continues at a steady pace.

With the lack of relays, the different species become more self sufficient, but also more isolated, and the council system was eventually dissolved. However, the mutual struggle against the reapers keeps the governments civil and in most cases friendly.

Shepard is treated for his injuries, goes back to his LI, is a hero, lives happily ever after, and the Normandy crew is awarded more medals than can be worn even by even the largest krogan.

Shepard comes back as a VI AI with a little due diligence from his lover (Jack) and an anonymous (Kasumi) message.

That story is still in the works, but I'm just two chapters away from finish.

In my ending, After Shepard and the Normandy linked up with the rest of the fleet at the rendevous, a massive cleanup effort started.

While Earth and the Citadel were recovered, the Crucible teams, headed by asari researchers examined teh Charon Relay and figured out how to repair it.  From there the fleets went from relay to relay, repairing the ones leading to their homewords.  The quarians and their liveships had to escort the turians back to Palaven first, of course.  But the geth fleet, not needing the supplies that organics required, forged on ahead to pave the route for the quarians when the time came for them to go home.  They also ended up repairing many of the more remote sections of the relay network.

There would be some tension during the reclaiming of the Citadel and repair of Earth.  But with Commander Shepard, the human who assembled this alliance coordinating, the peace held.  The shot of a krogan handing a human child over to a salarian medic with an asari biotically lifting a piece of debris away made for a great photo-op.

And batarians proved incredibly adept at finding trapped survivors.  The skills formerly used to hunt down colonists and capture slaves went to a far more productive purpose.

The Citdel stayed in Earth orbit, in part because it would be too difficult to move, but also to commemorate the galaxy's darkest hour, and greatest triumph.  Where everyone working together fought things out of deepest nightmares and triumphed.  It was not inhabited again until it had been thoroughly examined by the best operatives of the Spectres, STG and EDI of course.  When it was reopened for use, the first order of business was to restore the embassies of the quarians and batarians, and to offer an embassy to the geth.

It took decades for any sense of normalcy to set in, and things never really went back to the way they were, but within a century or two, what was lost had been totally reclaimed.

Edit:  And Shepard?  Shepard retires from the Alliance and pursues a brief career as a diplomat.  Once the Citadel is online again and a basic relay network is  back up, he retires to a colony with a certain Lieutenant Commander...

The Relays are gone, so for the foreseeable future the fleet is stuck in Earth. Shepard decides to go back to basics and enslaves the geth to build them a giant bridge out of Reaper corpses.

Shepard and Miranda go on to form a new Cerberus that studies and uses Reaper technology while rebooting the relays. Within a year, most of the major nebula's and star clusters are reconnected via the relays. The minor relays are still damaged, but all the homeworlds are reconnected. The new Cerberus also is a hidden organization/society devoted to protecting the galaxy and keeping the unknown dangers of the universe at bay through science, politics, and force when necessary. They are of course going to be a darker and morally grey group that does perform questionable science and deeds for the good of the galaxy.

This is my own ending concept. It's a difference in destroy. Here are the themes that I saw from the series

After detonating the Crucible and destroying the Reapers, Shepard was found alive by an emergency worker at the site where the Conduit beam was in London, apparently having been beamed back to Earth immediately after arming the weapon. She spent one week in the hospital, and several months recovering from both physical and emotional issues including drug and alcohol rehab, and psychiatric counseling.

The technicians and scientists who worked on the Crucible project studied the FTL drive cores on the Reapers and began a project to build a new experimental ship that could traverse the galaxy at 1000 LY/day without the need of the mass relays like the Reapers had been able to do from dark space to the Alpha Relay. If successful this would shorten the rebuilding of the relay system by hundreds if not thousands of years.

By the time the Normandy limped back into the system, Shepard was discharged from the psychiatric treatment and was clean and sober. She was glad to see Liara again, and greeted her with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of the finest Serrice Ice Brandy she could find, and the two locked themselves in a five-star hotel room for two days and got intoxicated and ...... (they used room service).

Well you knew that sober thing wasn't going to last.

Once femshep recovers she has a visit with the new human councillor, Dominic Osoba, and the other councillors. She presents to them evidence that the Asari were hiding a Prothean beacon on their homeworld.

A few weeks later, she learns that not only have the Asari have been removed from the council, but that they were also banned from setting foot on the Citadel until all investigations have been completed

Currently femshep is retired and lives with Samantha on Vancouver island awaitng their first child

Post destroy galaxy:

After the Normandy launched off into space, several crew had begun a search and rescue inside the citadel by a hopeful chance that Shepard was still alive. Shepard was found by a group of technicians, and was brought to earth at a hospital at a region that wasn't too damaged by the war. Around one year later, Shepard recovered mostly and he shortly began therapy with Steve to recover from stress. The Normandy crew disbanded and retired, but still kept in contact and called for annual reunions. Steve and Shepard got married and had two daughters together, retiring at a villa in Martha’s Vineyard.

Wait, the whole asari species is punished for the actions of a tiny fraction of them? Are the councilors in your world even bigger idiots than normal?
