Bride With White Hair and 8 Diagram Pole Fighter are two of my jams that haven't been mentioned.

I prefer The Killer to Hard Boiled myself, but I dig a lot of John Woo's classic HK stuff.

I'm not even sure how to incorporate Kurosawa and samurai cinema into this conversation (broad topic!), except to say that you guys should also look into Kenji Mizoguchi and Masaki Kobayashi while you're at it. As far as Kurosawa goes, Throne of Blood and High and Low are greats that haven't been mentioned, though Rashomon is at the top of my list.

It's impossible to cover them all in one go. There are alot. I've recently been watching some older Shaw films dating back to the 60's I'd never seen. There are some beautiful ones. The availability of all these films is awesome, considering in my younger days you took what you could get, including the cheap, cash-in Bruce Lee clone flicks. But, even some of those were cheap fun. More on that later.

8 Diagram Pole Fighter finale is sweet. What a rumble that was. All those teeth! ;)

"Another alltime favourite of mine is "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow". My Kungfu is stronger than your's FTW!"

This was one of the first ones I saw outside the Bruce Lees. How about Snake in the Monkey's Shadow with the two snake style assassins... and that drunken monkey.

Here's something I ran across that others may already know about.

Gatchaman Live Action Film Trailer

This sounds like a tall order, considering how much I loved the anime when it was known here as G-Force, or Battle of the Planets.

On a side note... Yen, Yeoh, and Yuen re-unite for 'Crouching Tiger' sequel

Well lets see if anyone has any idea what in the hell I am talking about here now that its general asian films.

I remember when I was real young there was this old movie out of Hong Kong film, maybe 70's? It had horrible english dubbing. Anyways the fallowing is all I remember now I'm not making this up, so if anyone has any clue what this is feel free to say.

The setting was like in some post collapse society now I remember very little of the film minus these couple of things.

One Jackie Chan (or a guy that looked a hell of alot like him back then) was a minor apperance, and his character was teamed up with this woman, the pair of them wore white coveralls, and they had this crazy ass shotgun with barrles all over it pointing in all sorts of directions. Also I'm pretty sure they died when the fallowing happend..

The like ruined town/Bus fort they had came under attack by racecar dirving ****s, a few of them were even dressed as klansmen..besides the point like, some of them just had racer helmets and clothes on, there were swastica's on the race cars and bikes they had. I think also pretty much everyone died, I know Jackie and that woman did. But like other than those screwed up things I remember nothing else about the film.

If you didn't, you should watch King Boxer aka Five Fingers of Death as it's a must see classic (Kill Bill makes a homage to the film), Heroes of the East starring Gordon Liu is another one, and John Woo's The Killer is a must see for Hong Kong film enthusiasts. (the last bit might be an oxymoron)

I'm with you on all those, the first two being more Shaw Bros. classics.

Heroes of the East .. I just love the simple story of a Chinese guy marrying a Japanese woman, with miscommunication hacking off the Japanese family, so much so, they send over a fighter a day to challenge Liu. This was a different kind of movie the way it plays out.

And Gordon Liu with (fake) hair!

As far as HK cinema goes I like:

Police Story 1 &2
Snake in the Eagles Shadow(anything with Hwang Jang Lee)
Drunken Master
Armour of God
Once Upon a Time in China
New Dragon Gate Inn
House of Flying Daggers
Iron Monkey(the Donnie Yen one)
Infernal Affairs
The Killer
Hard Boiled
Meals on Wheels
Ninja in the Dragons Den

I also recall a Sammo Hung movie where he battles a vampire which I quite enjoyed. I think Yuen Baio may have been in it too. I can't remember the name though. Anyone have any idea?

I also remember watching Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain, but have no idea if I liked it or not. It's been years since I watched much HK cinema.

As for the rest of Asia some movies I liked:

Azumi
Versus
Ong Bak 1 and 2(haven't seen the third yet)
Chocolate
The Raid

I still have tons of dvds I haven't even watched, when a nearby movie rental place closed its doors, I cleaned out its Asian film section, and I'm pretty sure I was the only one that rented them to begin with.

They were mostly recent (2000 and on) releases, but I snapped up The Water Margin because I recognized the title. (The Suikoden series is based on the novel.) Still haven't watched it, I'll get around to it one day.

I wish Dragon Dynasty still existed, I think the last release was almost a year ago. I liked Bey Logan's commentaries, they were always entertaining.

Indeed. HotE was one huge martial arts culture clash that was caused by alcohol, and a troublemaker of a servant. It's cool how the director contrasted the strengths, weaknesses, and differing philosophies of all the styles without any underlying bias.

lulz i didn't notice that Liu had fake hair until a fews years ago.

This topic is awesome. I mainly just watch Historical Kdramas now, like Jumong,  Great Queen Seon Duk, Jewel in the Palace. Dong Yi, and my gateway drama Yi San.
But I loved Saved the Green Planet, The movie was just bonkers, I can't really describe it my self... It's  just bonkers, also I am afraid of spoiling the whole thing Just watch it!

Oddly enough I saw the two Vengence movies that Ninja Stan didn't see and I didn't watch Old Boy on Netflix because for some reason it had only the dub version while the other two had the subs. I can't watch movies without the voices belong to the actors on the screen.  But once I can find the sub version of Oldboy I watch that., because the other two was awesome... Though I did notice the Leading Actress in Sympathy for Lady Vengeance was also the star in Dae Jang Geum/ Jewel in the Palace.

"Snake in the Eagles Shadow(anything with Hwang Jang Lee)"

Hwang Jang Lee may very well have been the best 'kicker' in the biz. Usually the villain, and always fun to watch. And he accidently kicked one of Jackie's teeth out while filming 'Snake in the Eagle's shadow'.

Nice Hwang Jang Lee bio

This one I'm not sure of. If I dig anything up, I'll let you know. Stan might be familiar with it.

It still beats most of today's music by a long shot.

For an awesome Samurai flick, you might want to check out 13 Assassins.

I really enjoyed 13 Assassins as well as The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi with  Beat Takeshi.

Anyone else seen Peace Hotel with Chow Yun-Fat?
