OK I will stir the pot a little. First, I liked some of foli's posts and agreed with several of them. Second, I don't use a mic for a number of reasons and I don't really like most guys who do, they are all usually either a bit insane or annoying or both. None of my real life friends game online so there is that. I used to chill on mic with a really fun and cool group back in SOCOM 1 and 2 but since then, it seems like online playerbase has gone downhill a lot. So, I just don't socialize at all. When I play ME3, I play to hear sounds in the game, not to have two guys jabbering on non stop about dumb ****, and the great majority of conversations I overhear, the talkers are quite obviously a bit off in the head. It is annoying that on PS3 you can't remove mic chat or lower the volume, there is next to nothing mic comm can bring to a team either, besides maybe some pre match planning, everything in-game is more or less common sense. I don't really like playing and talking to "myself," it's kindof weird, and I don't like the new TS/Vent generation. The weirdest is when you get that one guy when 3 people have no mics and he just doesn't shut up about random **** the whole match, but two going off to each other non stop is almost as bad.

Hehe Xbox has a mute. :P

I find this shocking. How did you even understand them? I'm still trying to figure out what "gamingm" and "dayn" mean.

Im glad i did NOT have mic turned on for that last match.
Laggy as hell + geth stunlock = supreme frustrating game, used up virtually all my consumables. 9/10 my biotics failed to detonate. On top of that, two pug krolords refused to do the wave 3 drone escort and ignored wave 6 assassinations until i nuked two of them then died,  leaving one krolord who unfortunately started using nukes to take out the next 2 targets and solo'd the wave. They also bled out on wave 10 devices, leaving me and the adept to do them on our own. SO MUCH RAGE  if my mic had been on i prob would have said some unkind things

I have a couple of mics, now. The Xbox one is very cranky, and often does not wish to cooperate, so I usually choose not to use it.

I have a mic, but I don't use it 99% of the time for various reasons, two of which are:

1) I have a horrible accent (I think it's horrible, most men think it's adorable, but I don't care, it's horrible) and it's so heavy at times it's like I speak another language. In fact I was insulted once (in another game, MMORPG but that ain't the point) when going on Vent to speak to some of my guild's members (prior to going to a dungeon) and one guy heard me for the first time (a new guild member, we were teaching him the dungeon, and I was in the party). When he heard me he said " Your accent is so adorable, I don't understand what you say but you sound so cute. ". I invented a reason right there to leave Vent (stayed in the party and did the dungeon but didn't want to speak anymore). I was actually insulted and felt upset.

2) I'm a girl. So yeah, some of you here must have watched the first Jurrasic Park movie? If so, you remember Allan Grant's reaction upon seeing the Brachiosaurus for the first time whilst in the jeep doing the park tour? Well, apply that reaction to all three other party members after I speak just one time and look at their characters (on my screen) suddenly stop moving or stop doing intelligent things for a moment and starting to crash in walls, not take cover anymore or just plain die non-stop. I can't explain it other than boys can't take a woman's voice on the Internet, period.

And these are just two out of many more reasons as to why I don't use my mic in most (not all) games I happen to play on-line. Another reason is mere immaturity or even just plain lag or horrible mic quality from other players making the "conversation" unbearable to the ears and you wish you never started a conversation at all in the first place, because their mic is probably as old as the fossils that Allan Grant was studying. I'm looking forward to the day when all communication will be done telepathically (but that won't fix the immaturity issues for some, and maybe not the lag either, the natural one that is, but that'd be another story).

I do have a mic, last time I tried talking with PUGs in a game on PS3 I got called a c*** for killing a sabotaged target. Even after apologizing for doing so.

Granted this was months ago, but PUGs usually have nothing useful to contribute in terms of voice chat that I couldn't figure out without it.

Endless pm spams. Also. I try not to talk during a pug game. One time I was downed doing obj, I had to turn on the mic and call for help; then next wave when I was downed again, two missiles from 2 diff teammates were flying over my head, and there were only 2 troopers there.....

Hardly ever hear people use mics, on PC at least. When they do, I can't understand sheit because either their mics are crap or ME3 compresses the crap out of it. Besides, my accent and pronunciation is comparable to Finnish rally drivers...

Uh.... I'm a girl, too, and have literally never encountered that reaction. Although I have certainly seen plenty of wall-crashing, no-cover-taking, and dying non-stop... whether I speak on the mic or not. Image IPB

So I had an awesome experience today to further my point for pro mikes. I was playing, joined mid game. And then I heard voices, and they where foreign! So we ended up having a great time murdering poor little cerbys. Pro Mike!

(yes I know mic, but much funnier.)

When someone buys me a mic I'll happily use it. They're usually too expensive, ps3 user, and when they're dirt cheap somewhere I usually find out about long after the fact.

I have a mic but I wouldn't start a conversation in random lobbies. But I would respond if someone talks first. Makes me wonder if a lot of these silent PSN ID's on the TV screen are people like me, just waiting for someone else to break the ice. I'm starting to see the same names in PUG's anyway, so "talking" doesn't seem as weird as six months ago.

Sadly, I am thinking the same thing. I love accents I'm always trying to do them and my girlfriend loves it when I do... but still I like them.. yes even when males have them (just not as much)
