I never liked the changes to combat in ME2. I found it dull to play as an Adept because you'd all too often get stuck behind a chest high wall and spam powers.

So on my current trilogy run I did a bit of modding.

I removed the global cool-down with PCCPatcher. This not only means I can do more as an Adept but it opens up the opportunity to take along a wider variety of team-mates, as I'm not restricted to needing another biotic in order to trigger explosions.

Also I used ME2Coalesced.Editor to boost my shields. A big part of being stuck behind those chest high walls was that shields would drop instantly, meaning you couldn't really move around the battlefield as an Adept.

Boosting my shields gets me out from behind that chest high wall and gives me more mobility like in ME1. I haven't boosted them to 'god' levels, I can still be taken down if I am not careful. It now feels that if I die it is my mistake, rather than the AIs unerring accuracy.

They are just a couple of tweaks but I am genuinely enjoying the combat this time around, rather than feeling restricted by it.

I'd say compared to Mass Effect, Mass effect 2 WAS easier lol You didn't get knocked back as often, you have biotic detonations, biotics that swerve to actually hit your target, Singularity felt much stronger, Warp is your best friend on Insanity, the annnnnnnd the to be honest, from my experience, I got stuck behind crates, or trapped by squadmates against walls in ME waaaayyyy more than ME2. Long story short, it was already easy :D
