At first I was a bit... 'OH NOOOOOOOOOO' but now I'm more 'Oooooooooo'.

The trilogy was amazing, but I also just want to play a 10 hour linea action packed shoot em up, and I think a game on Garrus could do that. Mmy only problem is when will it be set? Doing it before he ever met Shepard bring horrible flash backs of how the Star Wars prequeals were a back idea. So it would have to be right after the end of ME3 which would be frikkin difficult.

Then theres the whole 'What if Garrus died' problem, and this is where BioWare failed again by giving an RPG game type story to start with, only to then drift into there own cannon story for us to play.

Then worse than that it would mean bringing all the old characters back, and that leads to BioWare giving us the same thing until we wish the original trilogy had never existed.

But I really wanna shoot stuff, and I really like the idea of Garrus as a PI. Has anyone photoshopped a raincoat and fedora onto hm yet?

Unless....

What if Garrus wanted to get the hell away from it all and ended up on another galaxy? No no no no, the Citadel as an open city type location would be best suited to a PI. Think, think, think, think....

Ok how about a prequeal but set about 3 years before the ogirinal ME game, and have the span of the game last no longer than say 10-12 months. This way you would get enough time to see why Garrus ends up choosing the renagade path rather than sticking to the book, and also allows for no effects to worry about with what happend in the original ME, and he doesn't ever have to have come in contact with anyone of them previously. Except maybe Harkin.

Stuck for ideas here. Help!

I'm 100% sure that when Bioware says "Garrus spin-off", they also mean a prequel that features Garrus before the events of one of the games, or inbetween them.

They might continue Mass Effect, but i really doubt they want to expand upon what happens in the ending of Mass Effect 3, and second of all, i don't think that many fans actually want them to continue with a direct sequel. It's going to be a very ****ty sequel at best.

Garrus story while Shepard was being rebuilt by Lazarus.

We all know it ends badly thoguh, and we know who the "traitor" was at the end.

I'd love to see a spin-off adventure with Garrus, although I have to disagree with the "10 hour linea action packed shoot em up".
As far as I'm concerned, any further ventures into the ME universe should be working to shake off the heavy emphasis on "action-shooter" while bringing back the diminished RPG elements from its roots.

That is not to say that they should down-grade the combat or any such thing, but rather that they should re-balance the combat with the amazing character/cultural/universal depth found in the first.
This is all simply my humble opinion of course (or perhaps 'delusional dream' is more fitting) ;).

Oh, and I'd actually be cool with it taking place before or EVEN after Shepard's trilogy.

The Citadel DLC also points out the popularity of the "social" elements and character interaction and Roleplaying. The Characters is what made it great. I don't think the "shooting" is at the top of the Citadel DLC's sucess ratings.

I'm not a huge Garrus fan either.  A game based on him as the main character would be a flop.

Same. He's too boring.

A game about Javik on the other hand..

Garrus is already an established character, so it would be hard to make it an RPG. I have no problem with non rpg spinoff, but the next ME being developed by Montreal should still be a hybrid rpg/shooter like those from the Trilogy.

Concerning your tidbit on the RPG aspect.
The RPG aspect to the Mass Effect franchise right now is all that stands in the way of it being a decent game and becoming a shoddy sci-fi FPS.
