I finished it, I was mightily unimpressed with the game. It had potential, but as usual, came out as a pile of crap. Seems to be Square Enix' modus operandi as of late. Not to mention the fact that regardless of what platform you play it on, it runs like ass.
lol i agree that it sucks ass but i can't be satisfied unless i finish a game.. its almost like a drug, you always want to finish the last hit.

I agree with Hahaue in the crappy storyline. It was interesting up to a certain point, and then it just ran out of steam. I'm struggling to even remember what it was about. /sigh...I've been a longtime fan of Square Enix games. I grew up playing every one of them...but the quality has just gone downhill over the years. They mostly serve as eye candy, with little to no substance. I'm left feeling empty inside, or wondering why...why do I even bother with you? Yet I keep going back...with every new game they release, I think, maybe this is the one that won't mess with/screw me. I'll always have a soft spot for them despite their years of disappointment because of the better games they once produced. It's my weakness. Bioware on the other hand, keeps spoiling me with gems! Oh sorry, back to The Last Remnant...umm...google for help ^_~ If you want specifics about how to fight that last battle, I can tell you how I did it.

I refuse to play another JRPG until they have a protagonist who isn't an adolescent.

I finished it awhile ago, and vaguely remember doing sidequests for certain members of your team to unlock their final skills. That might help? Also, there's no point in recruiting more members than...I think it was 4/5 teams would allow. I remember being quite pissed about that, because they didn't raise your unit limit to match the amount of recruitable npcs in the end. I did a lot of those guild quests for blueprints in order to get a really nice sword...I honestly can't remember if that made a difference. I was just obsessed with getting it because it glowed all sorts of colours and looked really powerful.

I know exactly how you feel. When I was little, my dream was to work for Squaresoft. "They make the best RPGs in the world!" I'd say. I took Japanese and 3d design courses, I went on a student exchange trip to Kyoto, I was all set to seriously go for it... and then I played FFX, and my hopes and dreams were shattered. Squaresoft became Square Enix, and the quality of their games steadily declined. I disliked IX, but X and X-2... Fool me once...
I finally gave up forever on them, but it really was like an abusive relationship, Square being the abuser in this case. But they love me, they don't mean to hurt me, they just can't help themselves. If I stay, I can change them, I can help them be better.
Sometimes it's better to just cut and run. Besides, when I lost my faith in Square, BioWare was there to pick up the torch and run with it. I'd always liked their games, and then Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was released and I fell head over heels for the developers. It also helped that they were based out of my home province, I can't really describe how proud I am that a Canadian company is now a powerhouse in the global market. It makes me want to salute the flag, and them.

They're hiring all sorts of people, but I'm not ready to relocate yet. Maybe in a few years, we'll see where the RCMP wants to shunt my man off to. I'm hoping it's not Tuktoyaktuk, though anywhere in Manitoba would be bad too.

The most difficult thing I found to be in that game is if the enemy has an aoe type attack. Since your unable to position your troops so it is easy enough to get your army wiped out in a single round. Especially with rare or big mobs that will multi-deadlock.
Side quest side quest side quest. Go everywhere do everything because once you get to a certain point MANY will just be gone and the items, exp, and such is nice. Plus some companions.
I broke my groups like this and it does me well. Squad 1 5 leaders they are jacks of all trades. Squad 2 with 4 leaders also jack of all trades. Squads 3 and 4 are made up of 3 leaders on pure melee the other heavy casters. The pure caster I do my best to keep out of deadlock so they can heal, rez, and support.

If you think it is hard the first time.... then do not choose the harder difficulty the second time around.
