Found the first game's gameplay to be frustrating - Whoever thought platforming from a first-person pespective was a good idea needs to be scolded. A shame too because that's what the game had going for it. Despite those frustrating camera angles, and how it handled on PC with the gameplay, it was decent.

I liked it...

- 2016 possible release date

I sure hope not. As for the online component, if it is just jumping in and out of other players games, I wonder if it would be like Dark Souls where you can help them or be an *******.

Maybe you'll just see them as other runners doing errands.

That would be somewhat distracting to me.

I loved the visual style of the game and the concept but for me the original Mirror's Edge was a frustrating game for me to play. I think I only managed to play about 20 minutes, maybe 30 before I lost all patience with it and gave up, lucky I had only borrowed a friends copy instead spending my hard earned cash on it. Under the best of circumstances I am not really a fan of First Person games and as Chris92 said First Person gameplay and platforming/parkour was a ver interesting combination, really aggravated my 3D motion sickness.

Despite that however I am looking forward to Mirror's Edge 2. I won't be buying it myself but I still love the idea and applaud game developers trying to do something different.

^Haha. I thought the first 30-60 minutes where the best thing about the game. And the first person view really enhanced that. But for me once traditional gameplay worked its way in (because its a game, you gotta do something), it was all downhill from there.

Both Mirror's Edge 2 and the next Mass Effect were slated to come out around that time.

Really enjoyed the primary color art style and subtle dystopian city of Mirror's Edge. I also like the character models of those Blues seen in ME2.

Pardon, but where exactly did you get this from?

Yeah I think the game should've kept going with the parkour. That along with the sprinkling of combat in the game was enough of something. #YEARLATEREPLY

‘Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst’ Trademarked By EA; Parkour Sequel Retitled?

A new trademark listing in Europe submitted by JA Kemp, a representative that EA frequently uses, on June 8, 2015 was discovered and posted by a user on NeoGaf. In the post, it was discovered that the trademark was for something called Mirror’s Edge:Catalyst that fit under the computer game software category. Many users have begun to speculate that this will be the title for the upcoming Mirror’s Edge sequel.

I really liked how fast paced the opening sequences were, the problem is there really wasn't any challenge to them. Once things became more of a challenge it really started to feel like your typical platformer. I don't know how they could reconcile needing challenging gameplay while also remaining fast paced, because to me the two don't go together.

I hope they dont Sexify Faith. I dont mean to sound like a perv but her flat chest really makes sense for a freerunner like her and adds to give her a distinct profile.

Yeah I liked Fath's everyday girl figure. It worked. No need to change it.

Good point. It's definitely a tough thing to balance and if Mirror's Edge 2 went into a more action oriented direction that would probably be the mindset behind it. I think the question is then, does the next Mirror's Edge need to sacrifice the uniqueness it has in the name of increasing challenge? Is it worth it?

Letter from Senior Producer Sara Jansson:

Hello everyone,

Two years ago we revealed that we were making a new Mirror’s Edge™. Last year, we gave you a behind the scenes look into some of the early progress we had made. And though we haven't said much else in all that time, we have been listening. Thank you for your incredible passion and your patience. I'm excited to tell you that it's paid off — by this time next week, you will have finally seen more of the game at E3.

Mirror’s Edge has always had a special place in the hearts of all of us at DICE. The first game had a lot of promise. It was unlike anything else in terms of the gameplay and style — it had a unique soul. But as much as we loved that game, we knew it could be more. So that’s what we have set out to do as we introduce Mirror’s Edge to a new generation.

The team has spent a lot of time re-evaluating every aspect of the game and making it a new experience. This is not a sequel, this is not Mirror's Edge 2. We have landed on a vision that honors the first game — pushing the boundaries of first person movement and diving deeper into the story behind our heroine Faith — but also brings a lot of great new, interesting gameplay and features to the experience for our players.

So on behalf on the entire team here at DICE, we can’t wait to show you what we have been pouring our heart and soul into. We can’t wait to introduce you to Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst.

Guess it's time to change the name of the thread. ^_^

I wasn't so much talking about more action, just that Mirror's Edge to me was kinda bland after the first hour or so. Personally I would have no problem if the game wasn't particularly challenging so that they could really stick with the free runner style gameplay (a three dimensional endless runner basically). I feel like I would be in the minority though.

Agreed.

Large breasts will just get in the way of squeezing past pipes.

I'm actually a little nervous about new Mirror's Edge. I've been waiting years for this and I was so damn happy when they finally announced it. My expectations aren't high, but knowing this game is under EA's wings again... ugh. Original Mirror's Edge had about 40% of main story cut without Rhianna Pratchett's knowledge, so...

I don't want to complain, because we don't know anything about new ME yet, buuuut... I don't like this "new" Faith, her face to be more specific. She looks like a potato now.

I agree with you. I don't want a sexy runner, so that teenage boy can droll to their monitors.

I really do love original Mirror's Edge despite its flaws and I hope the new one will be good as well, not just over-hyped... something with lots of marketing...

I um... yes, that's true. But I meant big boobs, less clothing and stuff.

I was a pretty big fan of Mirror's Edge but for some reason don't care that much about 2....
