Third person for some take downs and events could be cool.

 

But I'm happy, since this still looks a lot like the original, but hopefully with that story improvement they talked about. I just don't really know why Faith went on with the run. Unless that's like half-way through the story and she already knows something is off.

I really don't like Faith's new voice, I know it's prequel, but she sounds like a generic American teenager. She also now has the Tomb Raider reboot problem, where all of her pants and grunts sound like sexual moaning.

I wonder if those are just imitated or if someone at the studio had the brilliant idea to just let the voice actress run a few laps around the building (or up and down the stairs) a couple times and then just record her heavy breathing ... her panting seemed obviously artificial, but some of that impression was in no doubt due to the pants sometimes interloping with dialogue, which obviously breaks the immersion of both as you can't exactly huff and puff from parcouring AND talk fluidly at the same time.

The gameplay looks as hoped, very fluid and like a refined version of the original. Hopefully, this does turn out good! I am worried in the back of my mind that this will be a flop, although, it looks exceptional so far. I too think I prefer the original voice of Faith, but I shall wait until I see more of this game before judging the VO (she doesn't sound bad at all though).

I enjoyed the scene where Krueger suddenly notices Faith and is like, "Where the f*** did you come from?" and then Faith just picks up the data drive and runs like hell. :lol:

Well, I actually prefer third person in these types of games because I can at least see where my legs are at.

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt for the moment. Gameplay looks very fluid but I wish they'd release a demo at some point.

I'm in a wait and see on her at the moment. The video didn't impress me, but one video really isn't much to go on.

 

A demo would be awesome, but nobody really does those anymore. In either case, one of the games I'm more excited for due in part to the rather unique gameplay that it brings.

Agreed. From the looks of the video they seem to have mastered the art of being constantly on the move and using the environment to your advantage. My only concern at this time is how it'll translate to controllers and mouse/keyboard. If the controls become too frustrating to handle, well, that won't be good.

I don't know, the first person angle made it special.

 

Also, I already got used to the whole "estimate range to edge" thing. Want frustrating, why don't you try Half-Life 1. Some of those jumps, ugh!

Mind you, even in third person jumps can be pretty frustrating. TFU II comes to mind. <_<

You guys have heard? Catalyst is a reboot and not a prequel. Now I'm fully onboard. The first game had so much potential but its paper thin story turned me off.

I'm okay with it provided it's a better game.
