I'd like to learn or see how the templars make mages tranquil. That would be an interesting twist in DA3 to actually see a mage being transformed, or perhaps to be part of the Rite of Tranquility.
Oh yes, this btw is why all mages should get possessed, so that they can't be made tranquil.

Even that one elven mage who murdered his girlfriend and used her blood to conjure up spells?
Yep.
If I remember correctly, that elf's girlfriend was worried about him and wanted Hawke to find him, and when she does, he kills her like nothing. He also seemed pretty unhyinged to me.

A tranquil mage is like a child w/ ADHD on Ritalin.

If I remember correctly ( and I do ), that elf came to her asking for help and to hide from the templars, and she told him that she doesn't know him anymore and sent him away.

Still, that quest was pretty fecking stupid. "I'll protect you!" "Oh, guess not."

Well, then. It would appear that her fears were confirmed when she was murdered by him.

Nothing was implied. We're told he was mild mannered before being taken to the Circle but it's just as possible his newfound control of his abilities nurtured elven supremacist ideas that had been in his mind all allong.Filament wrote...
If I remember correctly (and I most certainly do), it was implied the elf went axe crazy as a direct result of the severe abuse at the circle, as he was mild mannered prior to going in.
You'll notice he never mentioned the templars, only "humans".
People killing others they claimed to love happens many times in real life.Still, that quest was pretty fecking stupid. "I'll protect you!" "Oh, guess not."

Killing someone for not helping someone is one of the dumbest reasons for killimg someone.
She didn't try to kill him. She just wanted him gone.

You heard it first here folks. If a suspicious person knocks at your door and demands you help him hide from the authorities, you better do so. Because if you refuse and he kills you, clearly, he was well within his right and you are the wrong one.KainD wrote...

He didn't kill her for not helping him, he killed her to do blood rituals. But he might have thought differently would she be on his side.

She was his wife ffs, he wasn't a stranger, and she supported the templars. Opinions on which side to support are subjective, but me personally, I don't feel any empathy for her what so ever.

Perhaps. I'm just stating it so everyone knows he was not himself, at least not completely.

So he murdered an innocent person just to use their blood for a ritual? He really had no reason to do so. He destroyed his phylactory and thus could ne be tracked by the templars. He should've fled Kirkwall instead. He would've avoided being killed by Hawke as well. None of the rogue mages you encounter in game have their heads screwed on straight.

I was referring to Hawke's involvement, just walking in on her cutscene death in the alienage after you explicitly waited in Merrill's house until nightfall to apprehend this person and you can't even try to save her.People killing others they claimed to love happens many times in real life.

He didn't want to run, he wanted revenge on humans for treating elves badly and revenge on templars, so he decided to summon a whole bunch of demons and kill a whole bunch of people, makes sense.

Huon still would have sacrificed his wife and used her blood for his magic, since that was his intention when he came to her in the first place. There was never a point at which he intended for her to survive their reunion.

And thus mages begin to look like terrorists that are out to destroy the lives of non-mages.

Clearly, she had good reason to fear him and thus good reason to deny him assistance. "If you help us, we won't kill you" is not a plead for help, it's a hostage situation.
No, he wasn't. He summons a few demons but that's it.Rassler wrote...

Nothing wrong with that. You either have rights equality OR the strongest survive and dictate their rules.
People in Thedas didn't want equality, they wanted to seperate mages from mundanes and put them in the circles.
Enjoy a fireball in your face and a town full of demons.

One does not simply get effects like Anders being possessed without actually being possessed. They diference between these effects is the fact that the elf gets red effects inseatd of blue which is fitting considering its a demon inside him not a spirit.
