Hi guys, lately I've been trying to get a few of Ottemis' HR retextures on this forum to work in my game via texmod (specifically I wanted to change my femshep's ugly dress in the citadel DLC :P)

I put texmod.exe in my ME3 win32 folder and used a .bat file to get it to work with origin, as directed on these forums.

All of that worked fine, except ingame there is absolutely NO EFFECT. Everything is just default.
I've ran texmod in administrator mode, with compatibility for Windows XP SP3 and no change.

I've even tried to import the textures themselves over the casual outfit with ME3explorer, but this results in an endless loading screen.

In short: I have no idea what is happening here. Has the latest version of the game introduced some sort of block against modding? Or is there something else going on?

Yes mate, I'm using the correct method of launching texmod, i'm sure.

Specifically I'm using this .bat file to execute it more easily:

@ECHO OFF
ECHO Run Mass Effect 3 with Texmod?
SET /P X=(Y)es or (N)o?
IF /I "%X%"=="Y" goto :Yes
IF /I "%X%"=="N" goto :No
GOTO END

:Yes
ren "D:\\Origin\\Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe" "MassEffect3_tmp.exe
ren "D:\\Origin\\Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\Texmod.exe" "MassEffect3.exe"

ECHO Files renamed! Please start now your Mass Effect 3 in Origin.
PAUSE

ren "D:\\Origin\\Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe" "Texmod.exe"
ren "D:\\Origin\\Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3_tmp.exe" "MassEffect3.exe"

ECHO Filenames restored! Now you can start Mass Effect 3 with use of TexMod.
PAUSE

GOTO END

:No

"D:\\Origin\\Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe"

:END

But no effect ingame.

Is this the first time you're trying to use texmod or is this an issue you've just recently encountered?
And no, it's not an issue with the current gameversion and texmod, I've had 0 issues atleast.

Make sure you manually browse to ME3's exe through texmod when the batch-process asks for it, simply selecting it from recent files will not work.

As to ME3Explorer, I do have 4 .MODs for the dress, you could run one via ME3Explorer's MODmaker, I even host the PCC so you can revert the PCC in question to stock should you want to texmod it later.
If you click the .MOD link in my OP for the dress, it will redirect you to a post that explains the use of them.

Hi Ottemis, first off, thanks for all the great retextures!

I do browse to the ME3 exe manually, so that can't be the problem. I'll even weird you out a little bit more: I installed your .mod file for the dress in question through ME3explorer and guess what? It didn't do anything ingame!

I then browsed to the texture file in ME3explorer's texplorer and it turned up an error when I tried to preview the texture. So I extracted it and viewed it with paint.net, but the diffuse map only showed a black square for some reason.

I'll try to replace the entire pcc: that should work as I installed the HD packs by Aralakh23 without any problem, where did you upload this file though? Perhaps part of the problem is that I'm actually using those HD retextures. I was launching the game with texmod using the DLC patcher by Warranty Voider on the ME3explorer forums.

I'm sort of at a loss at what exactly is happening here, I'm not a coder or 3D artist in the slightest, but I'm not a newbie to modding games or using texmod either, yet nothing seems to work for me. Thinking of just giving ME3 a complete clean install.

That HD pack might be the culprit yes.
Go here, and read through the post, it has the PCC link and all 4 .MOD download links.

Also if you are already using a HD pack, then you cannot overwrite those textures again with texmod, it simply won't work because the way texmod identifies the texture is no longer valid after it's permanently replaced. The link has all the info you need.

And thanks, glad you like my work =)

Ah I see, yeah that does make sense!

I'll check it all out tomorrow, it's getting really late where I live :) But thanks a lot for the help in any case :)

You were right mate, the problem was those HD textures! I reverted the pcc for casual armors and now it works. Still had to make a new entry with id=100 inside coalesced.bin for it to work with the citadel DLC.

Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem with the HD pack and Texmod, except I'm trying to replace the Shade/Nightmare/Spirit armor texture.
I don't think this is the same issue as the N7 dress problem since Aralakh23 hasn't yet released the Citadel DLC pack (the PCC file should still be original, yes?).

Also, can anyone help me configure the proper way to load ME3 with these mods? I know for the HD pack to work I need to launch ME3 with WarrantyVoider's launcherwv.exe.
So should I rename texmod.exe to masseffect3.exe and let launcherwv load texmod? Or rename launcherwv.exe to masseffect3.exe and let texmod load launcherwv?

I wish ME worked a little more like TES when it comes to modding...

You should check for info on the official ME3Explorer forums for DLC texture replacement issues.
To be able to still run texmod with the DLC-auth tool check the ME3Explorer forums, there's a topic about that specifically under suggestions.

I made a set of exe files for each purpose, so you dont have to fiddle with options... here

You should use Warranty Voider's version 2 release of the dlc patcher in the thread he linked.

Just go through the process of loading texmod as usual, then use his DLCpatcher when you've just launched the game (at the "press any key to continue" screen). It took a few tries to work in my case, but I'm enjoying retextures of those armors as well!

And indeed, ME3 seems a little bit hostile towards modding. I remember ME2 being much easier (just adding squadmember armor etc through coalesced.bin).
