Pft, Not Bioware's fault you lack a sense of humor, had high expectations for an all ready heavily flawed/full of holes story/plot/narrative, and lacked the ability to separate yourself for an hour or two from the lame, forced grimdark and overall bland lousiness of ME3.
Shits and giggles DLC. All it was, and unlike the ending wasn't really meant to be taken seriously and not a mandatory part of the original game I spent 60+$ for and a large chunk of time completing/achieving.

The next time I see someone complain that the jokey fanservice DLC was jokey and full of fanservice, I'm burning down an orphanage, especially when it's advertised as such.

That's like complaining that there are too many mutants in Fallout. Or too much running in football.

man.. the point of Citadel was us, the fans. It's a flashback - like the end of a running TV series. I loved it.. and I'm new to the series.

I played Citadel after my Shepard and crew saved known existence (again). It was a great and touching send off. Sad a times too. But it reminded me of why I love these characters so much. And why I'm sad to see them go.

Two complaints I have about the dlc is ME2 squadmates were not used as squadmates and Steve, Jack, Miranda and Samantha couldn't be with Shepard when in the casino distracting the guards.

Agreed. I wouild've loved if somehow they worked in our "missing" crew (those that died). I mean, it's a fantasy DLC after all. Hanging out with Mordin would've been fun.

The "mission" segment of the Citadel DLC is sometimes fun, but there's way too much out-of-character behavior that seems more like something we'd joke about on BSN than something that would really happen. I find it hard to believe, for example, that:

- Any of the Shepards that I spent nearly 100 hours playing would actually, while trapped in a container with less than an hour's air supply because a clone is stealing the Normandy, become distracted by pondering how (s)he sounds when saying, "I should go."

- The Team Mako vs. Team Hammerhead banter would continue while they are still taking live fire.

- Javik, of all people, would join in on the silliness with his "Team Prothean" comment.

- The CAT-6 mercenaries, in turn, also find time for comments like "They have a krogan. Why don't we have a krogan?" while taking live fire.

- The Normandy could actually be blocked from reaching the mass relay by some creative shuttle-piloting, or that Joker and Cortez would risk doing that in an area where it could have gotten a lot of Citadel civilians killed. (And actually, does it perhaps do that anyway? Some of the missed shots do appear to hit buildings and explode.)

- Similarly, that even a Paragon Shepard would put Joker at risk and kill a merc who's already subdued in the restaurant. Some of the supposedly Paragon dialogue choices towards the clone sound pretty Renegade-ish too.

The party and some of the R&R content are better, and I probably have preferred if the DLC had just unlocked the Silversun Strip as an additional area on the Citadel with the new character interactions, though it still would have been a better fit, at least in its current form, in ME2. While there's some occasional background talk about the war on the Strip, it's noticeably different from all the grief and anxiety you hear in other areas. A few of the R&R scenes are a little over the top too, like Grunt's whole story about how he got in trouble with C-Sec or Shepard and Javik on the Blasto movie set.

I thought about this a bit too. Would the Citadel dlc have been better served if it were just a series of conversations/character interactions? The Clone narrative really is the weakest part and seems a half-assed way to get at what alot of people actually picked up the dlc for: squad interaction.

Well, as long as you didn't spend a lot of time at Jacobstown.

The original Law and Order is generally much more serious and cynical than SVU. It's also much better. At least it was when Jerry Orbach and Sam Waterson were there as Lennie Briscoe and Jack McCoy. Both of them were completely outstanding. The new guys all suck.

SVU had the best cast. I'm not even going to argue with you on this.

Mariska Hargitay will lead us to dawn.

And Christopher Meloni will bash some heads on the way there.

SVU isn't even worth it without Meloni.

Anyways, I beg to differ that Pinnacle Station is the worst DLC.

It does not fit grimdark spirit of ME3. I agree with that. It is shameless fan service. But you know what - this is what actually makes it best ME3 DLC for me. Whoever decided to go for vague angst full of symbolism as a fitting coclusion for ME3 - made a mistake and if you want to streigthen something crooked you need to push it to the other side.

The only disappointments I had with this DLC were that I couldn't save cloneshep and have her as a companion/LI (my Shep is that narcissistic) and the lack of Kelly.

Probably the best way I've heard it described.

I really liked the DLC. I also decided to headcanon that it takes place after the destroy ending.

For me it was probably the best DLC

However a lot of what was in there should have been in the main game and not left for the DLC to fill in. But thats hindsight I guess...

Finally a legitimate romance request in this forum.

Now that I have your attention...

There's much to enjoy in Citadel from a gameplay POV, but it's atrocious in terms of story for much the same reason the ending is poor: it doesn't fit with the story that came before. Mass Effect has always had comic moments, but the comedy never stops in Citadel. The war's been essentially put on hold so we can play Mass Effect: Parody and Dating Sim. Our crew made jokes before, but suddenly they're more concerned about the pizza bill and a kill count competition. Shepard manages to become an even more ridiculous action hero with some of his comments to the clone. The clone plot is like something from a bad B movie. The second half is better for what it is, but several characters (especially Javik) come off a caricaturs of themselves. The game relies on alcohol for jokes instead of letting it arise from the characters. And "I heart Garrus?" Come on.

This isn't the Darkspawn Chronicles; Citadel is part of the same universe as the genophage and Sanctuary. More time with beloved characters is a good thing, but I wanted *them* not a crackfic universe. Omega has been criticized for being a pure shooterfest, but at least I don't have to go "it was all a dream" to fit it into the narrative. If inconsistency is the flaw of the endings, then Citadel is even worse. A light tone does not excuse poor storytelling.

I disagree. I think it was perfect post-destroy ending DLC taking place several months later. I just ignored the references to "the reaper war", and figured Anderson willed it to Shepard. BW did the right thing. Too bad you picked synthesis.

was the DLC actually advertised as having a poor story, but it will have sloppy funny fanservice?

It was presented as being tongue-in-cheek, yes, but it's not like Mass Effect is a stranger to wacky missions, either.

If you like 1980s politically incorrect humor, you'll like the Citadel DLC. If you like brooding 2010 dark pseudo-philosophical BS politically correct stuff, you'll hate it.

Hell, it gave me what I've been asking to be in the vanilla game, meaningful content with Jack. I personally could care less about anything else, but I do agree with the sentiment that the story is somewhat out of place and poorly written, but hey, so is ME2 and it's my favourite game. Maybe I prefer character driven aspects and so-called " fanservice".
