For me personally I rather it be a sequel taking place a thousand years later with races we already love and being able to finally decide the race of our character through the story instead of automatically having to be human.

Also on a side note if they go the far off sequel route to bring backs races we love it would also give them options to introduce a few new races that either have evolved to obtain space flight or have become more popular in the galaxy.

Also what I would really like to see is more exploration of the worlds we went to since we basically only got to see like one city to each planet we went to it would be nice if we got to see multiple cities of each world or actually get the main idea that we actually do get to explore all of the worlds completely.

Basically more free roam more character customization and more impact on choices.

More exploration I'd love to search old ruins for clues about the past races and civilizations.

Also combat not every bloody combat move on the Spacebar please I would like map able keys in the next game.

I don't really care where the start the new game it's they who backed themselves into a corner if they do anything after ME3 with the 4 ending choices and if they just use one of the endings they risk anienating the other fans who chose one of the other endings. Unless they actually go with the Indoctrination Theory and Shepard is in a white jacket in an insane asylum somewhere.

Personally I feel they need a reboot of the ME series much like what JJ Abrams did with Star Trek in an alternate universe another Mass Effect in an alternate universe where they could undo the screw ups in this one. Where we could play 4 races like Turians, Human, Asari or Batarians.

An no bloody A B C D or EMS in the next game and multiplayer better be a separate entity from the single player game. I don't want to play multi-player to be able to win the single player game they need to be 2 separate entity's.

I definitely agree with you on the last part but they did fix this later on with the singleplayer dlcs

1: Set it close to a 1000 years in the future, that way the Normandy crew are, for the most part, not a factor - the majority will have passed on by that point, if they didn't die in the trilogy. Only characters who could still be alive are Liara & Grunt, who could be in easily replaceable cameos, as a Krogan Clan Chief or highly respected Krogan Battlemaster in Grunt's case, and as the unseen Shadow Broker for Liara - The big clue that it's her would be a comment that the new characters remind her "of some old friends".

2: More customisation - More options for the character's physical appearance; customisable outfits, even if it's just colour; allow us to choose which power loadouts the main character's class has; more armour pieces; colour/skin options for fixed suits of armour; no fixed helmets. Anything that can be added to the customisation options we already have, so we can make our player character more unique, the better.

3: Don't make the character a member of the military. That could be part of the backstory, like it is for Mal Reynolds, but I'd love to see the Mass Effect world through the eyes of a smuggler or bounty hunter who gets dragged into this epic adventure, as opposed to Shepard, who's there because it's his job.

Being able to decide our race and decide our background again would be nice

I want a fresh start. No canon ending to ME3. HEck it should have as little connection to the events in the Mass Effect trilogy as possible.

Probably won't happen but I would love to get more character customization freedom, species selection sounds good.

Might be a lot of work to implement, but having more than one story setup would improve replayability.
Some parts would likely be very similar but some would be handled differently depending on species and character skills.

Geth, Krogan, Human (for perspective), others if possible.

Doubt it would happen though, but the Roleplay potential would be incredible with alot of diversity and different reactions from people you meet. Just immagine a Geth being invited to a dinner meeting in a fancy restaurant to meet a "client"! (Geth mercenary or private investigator or whatever)

Waiter: What can I get you, um, sir?
Geth customer: Got any high quality hydraulics fluid?
Waiter: Would you like a drink to that?
Geth customer: Distilled water for my batteries, it will be authentic French cousine I hope!
Waiter: But of course! We'll bring your friend to your table when he arrives. *walks off shaking his/her head*

More character customization options (especially hairstyles), more vehicles, more open world options, your own customizable base or starship maybe and yeah more impact on choices.

Shepard and the crew. And it should start with a bar scene where they reminisce about the horrible ending of 3 and get drunk. Then they get a call from Alliance command and get called back to action.

The humans have to play a big part. Most of the people that play are casuals and it is easier to connect to your own race. No offense, but the hardcore fans make only a small margin, yet they speak the loudest. Fans are the best when it comes to constructive criticism, though. I wouldn't want it to be set a thousand years later; I want to see the immediate results of my actions. Maybe they could make a ME like ODST with a less canonical perspective and a more minor hero so that they could show a lot more of their universe that we couldn't, otherwise, see through Shepard's journey.

to be a tad callous to bioware

A remake of me3, or the game that me3 should have been.

I think they should remake ME1 to be the game it should have been.

It is the worst-reviewed game of the bunch, after all.

;)

Fair enough, me1 could use a new slick of paint (with an untouched story), me3 on the otherhand needs a revamp in theme, motivations, and plot.;)

Aw, where's the fun in that? There's plenty of implausibility and contrivance we can smooth out in the first game, along with doing a little something with the near-invincible mechanical ticks that pitch a fit every 50k years.

You know what... LETS DO IT!!!:o You and I will send letters to bioware, fixing the "implausbility" in me1. We will right their mistakes!!!

Anyway, I'd be interested in something set in the distant future or a Mass Effect: The Next Generation situation, with little ties to the original games outside of a return of the races, the combat, and the conversation style. And let's ditch the invincible, mile-high mechanical threats.

As long as we're steering clear of a FPS or a Synthesis-themed direct sequel, I'm consider it as an option. But, as with anything in terms of fiction, it'll depend on how it's shaping up and where it looks like it's going.

I agree with this

I would actually be interested in seeing what the game is about

I've probably posted something like this before somewhere around here, but heck if I can remember where or changed my mind on the topic:
If Mass Effect is going to be more action-oriented in the future, I'd love to see more movement on the battlefield. We have characters like Wrex and James that have a lot of potential in dishing out melee damage, but I sometimes I wonder why it's even implemented when it's near impossible to craft a strategy for said characters to quickly close the gap without getting turned into swiss cheese.
Kasumi's Shadow Strike was a power at the end of the day, but she effectively "teleported" behind a target to smack them by cloaking to get into position. That coupled with the ridiculousness we've seen in multiplayer ("Jet boots?" "JET BOOTS.") makes me want to see at least a couple party members make use of more fleshed-out melee mechanics as the core of their fighting abilities. That said, anything a little different from the tried-and-true, pop-and-shoot approach would be personally welcome.

Some fans want Synthesized universe with great possibilities for a new unique story.
And they do not want "Shepard Mk2" and "Reapers Mk2", because that would be boring.

Inevitable Synthesis is the best way to go.

I think the new game not having to do with the endings may be a better choice but I do really wish we can choose our race this time lol

Choosing a race will be problematic for camera tuning. Krogan are large, volus are small, etc. Just imagine the mess in dialogues and cut scenes. The only race choice that will work without creating headache for devs is a choice between human and asari - they are the same in size and proportions. Asari even have the same voice as human females.

If new ME game will have nothing to do with the ending, then it will not be a sequel.

It could still be sequel where over 1000 years have already passed and the consequences of the endings no longer bear  a impact anymore and I'm pretty sure bioware could still find a way for us to be able to play as any of the races we love through the main storyline if they really wanted to
