In Mass Effect there is lesbian relationships if you want. At the very least, the chick with whom I take my portrait will "hook up" with a female heroine.

OMG, this is new and exciting information! I'm sure nobody on the Mass Effect boards has ever heard of Liara, in particular this close to the sequel! Because everybody here was still in diapers in 2007.

Hey! Who's to say we don't have any 80-year-old gamers in our midst?

It's not two weeks, and they are already pretty much confirmed at this point. And I don't even wan tto knwo what "arse-banging" means in you guys context.

It is a huge bummer as it looks like Male Shepherds get all the headliner romances while the females get a bunch of dudes, or, of course, staying loyal to your asexual Liara.

This means I have to play through my stalled male Shepherd who I am bored to hell with.  Ugh....

Man supremacy in ME 2 I guess.  If they really changed the game to appeal to mainline tastes, I guess we can look forward to Shepherd converting to Christianity and voting Space Republican in ME 3.

You are allowed to establish your character as lesbian in ME1. Back in the closet in ME2, though. Gay man Sheps will be spending the entire trilogy in the closet.

I wonder if Bioware considers Mass Effect as something of a "mainstream" flagship franchise, and gay relationships would be too "awkward" for all the console kiddie shooter fans they are trying to attract?

Yeah, sure. We already blamed Fox News, EA, so I guess pointing the finger at the traditional ''console shooter kiddies'' is only natural at this point.

Who will be next? My bets are on the Jews. They make for good scapegoats, right?

We also need a PETA friendly squadmate to appeal to the vegetarian fans of ME2. No more hitting space monkeys with the MAKO! Try hugging them instead! :(

So, is it just speculation at this point, or is there really no f/f romance option? That would be disappointing, to say the least, given that Jade Empire, ME1 as well as Dragon Age had one.

Guest-183: "Casey, can you give us FemShep players an exact number of how many female / female romance options are in ME2? And are there other options for us other than an Asari?

CaseyH-ME2: "There were no female / female romances in ME1. Same with ME2. Most people count Tali but her species is female-looking but asexual. Female Shepards (and male) will have 3 possible love interests (if I count correctly!)"

Being able to have some "sexy time" with certain NPCs doesn't necessarily imply a romance (and vice versa).
Just sayin'.

Perhaps there are still some surprises left in that regard.

As a female player who wanted more male partners for my femshep I am thrilled at the options given in ME2 and cannot wait to choose, but it is rather unusual that there doesn't seem to be any F/F or M/M options in this game. Casey has often said that there are many surprises waiting for us so there is hope to have at least some kind of lesbian/gay romance (or since he said there wouldn't be then there are always the asari) perhaps not with a squadmate.

You wanna know what I think? Too bad, I'm saying it anyway.

Bioware just wants this to be the ''dark and edgy'' middle chapter of the trilogy. And of course, being edgy means being rebellious. During the Bush era, they introduced gay romance in their games. Now Obama is in charge, and they have to roll with the punches to stay rebellious. Gay sex is out, bible study on the Normandy MkII is in.

The squad roster also includes a true space racist, Miranda, instead of the more moderate Ashley, and a drug addict, SuZe, to warn little girls of the dangers of smoking medicinal marijuana. Touch the pot, and you eventually become a bald, tattood, angry psychopath looking for her next fix.

Then there is Jacob, the obedient black lackey squadmate. His personal quest will involve teaching him to fetch coffee and scrub the drive core with a toothbrush. Attaboy!

The funny thing with that is he's not fooling anyone. Not the media reactionaries, not the casual fans, not the people who like the f/f romances. I wonder why they persist with this ludicrous fiction? Especially since a FemShep being attracted to an asari would clearly make her either bi or a lesbian.

Why are they being so disingenious with this?

What's with this man-surpremacy? We don't know if there even is an M/M option for males. Female Shepards get Liara and quite possibly Samara.

Have we gotten a confirmation yet on whether these exist or not in ME 2? And yes, I've read the Best Buy chat. Casey's answers pretty much said nothing other than femshep won't have a romance with a female human or quarian.

Not going to read through all the nonsence.

It was stated there is no female on female romance in game (Asari are not female) so COMMON SENCE tells us there will be no male on male romance either. Femshep and maleshep get same options and structure in game after all.

Thats confirmed enough for me.

While I loved DA:O, Zevran pretty much burned out my patience on games pushing alternative political agendas. Glad Ill be able to focus on ME game and not have some gay character hitting on me for this game!

LOL, natural attractions are alternative political agendas.  The human emotions party is one hell of a political platform.

Anyway,  I heard a rumor that this game won't have sex scenes either.  Instead, the characters say they should wait for space-marriage as they wouldn't want to ruin their spiritual lives. :bandit:

Why does everyone keep saying Tali, Miranda and SuZe as confirmed male romances.

Or the other options for female?

Am I the only one that has seen that there are still 4 more squad mates that haven't been revealed yet?

Sure Garrus is likely one of them, but what about the rest?

Another thing, what's to say one of the romance options isn't the "old" one from ME1?

Seems to me people that are either gay or bi can't play a game today unless they get to have their homosexual romances. It is getting really tiresome reading it over and over again.

Your less than 10-20% of the population, get used to it.

List of confirmed squad members:
Grunt, Thane, Miranda, SuZe, Samara, Mordin, Jacob, Garrus & Tali. That's 9. The roster screen  has had 10 slots. Slot 10 is argued to be Legion.

The old romances from ME1 are confirmed to have a minor role in ME2.

Seems to me that the 10-20% of the people who hate options are pretty tiresome.

would it really? asexually-reproducing aliens bearing a vague resemblance to human females makes you bi or lesbian? interesting....

Vague resemblance? Apart from the tentacle hair and blue skin they look (and sound) exactly like human females. They even use the same model.

I don't hate options. Since I am part of the 80% that are not into gay game relationships I don't really see it as an option to begin with.
Perhaps next they should include , S&M, water sports and caprophage as "options" as well during the "sex" scene's?
I'm sure that these people make up some kind of percentage of the population as well.

I just find it silly that's all. This is turning into some kind of affirmative action crap.
People that are gay/bi are just that, it doesn't mean every single thing in this universe have to take that into account.
As I said 10-20% doesn't make it so.

What's next? No game or movie can ever be made unless at least 20% of all the villans and good guys are gay and show it to the audience so there is no mistake.

There was no black squad member in the last game, which almost makes it look like Jacob is the "token" black guy in this one.
I do find it silly when the forum is flooded with these gay request's like Bioware are somehow biggot and evil for not including gay relationships.

I'd like to think Mass Effect trilogy is a little more than romances.

I applogize for not making a politically correct post ( no I'm not).

Let me know next time the world was built in mind for dwarf/little people......<_<

translation software for the sound - that's stated in the codex, every race speaks their own language, technology makes it possible to understand, so no we don't know how they sound. yes the body proportions are very similar to human females but how much of the anatomy is the same, exactly? dissected many asari have you?
