Before I start, let me just say: I've read around a lot, I've tried the pyGFF editor, and I've tried console commands.

I have a save game that is in the Gallows just prior to the big final battles.  I want to change Hawke's romance choice from Merril to Isabela.  Both are at 100 approval.

I have used the editor to lower their approvals, as shown by being able to use the console debug options to raise and lower their approvals - so the console is working that far at least.  Without editing, the approvals remain fixed at 100 and can't be changed.

But when I try to alter the romance flags - clearing Merril's in one "go" and going back to to set Isabela's in a second "go" - nothing changes.  Merril is still loved up, and Isabela remains just friends.

I don't want to have to replay half of the game just to do this.  What am I missing?  Should I try with a slightly earlier save?  Can I only change it in Act 2?  Should I clear one romance flag (e.g. intimate) then exit, then go back in to clear another?

I don't THINK any changes you make to a romance / approval works in Act 3.

I kept getting romance bugs in Act 3 and was told I'd have to use a save from Act 2 before "To Catch A Thief" (which I did) then used the console to sort the romance flags out (also in act 2).

It didn't always work so I ended up having to use a save which was prior to sleeping with Merrill so that I could turn her down.

I expect there is a way to change the plot (not just approval) via the Editor but I don't know which numbers they would be

Hopefully someone from the forums who has more knowledge then me can help!!!
