Anything that crawls, slinks, leaps, or slithers. I include Shades, (my most hated creature), at the top of the list.

Worse than spiders?
Well there's flies that lay their eggs under your skin.
Or huge hornets that spits flesh melting poison.

Darkspawn insect like creature could be disgusting , I remember the children.
They were like worms with legs and teeth ...
You could have children growning inside of people , like Alien , that would be cool!

I'm okay with the spiders, it would be super awesome though to get someting else to squish.

I have nothing against giant spiders in video games (though these pics of real giant spiders really creep me out).

What would kill me would be giant bees, wasps or hornets.
In my most recent Skyrim playthrough, my Dragonborn traveled to Falkreath and found a little abandoned camp. It was dark, so I decided to let her crash there. There was a tree with a beehouse next to it, but there were no bees around and I thought meh, an empty beehouse ain't gonna be a problem.
She woke up the next morning to bees.
Bees.
EVERYTHING WAS BEES.
MY SCREEN WAS FULL OF BEES.
THE SOUND OF BUZZING ECHOED THROUGH MY ROOM.
I actually had to get my little brother to navigate my Dragonborn away from that camp, cause I couldn't stand to look at the screen or be in the same room while the buzzing was still going on.

So yeah, give me whatever giant insects you want, just no bees. My phobia would make it impossible to play the game.

I've had to blindly feel my way through a majority of the caves in both Dragon Age games, with my eyes closed.

Not because the giant spiders are necessarily that terrifying, but because the "suddenly drop from ceiling ON TOP OF YOU" animation, combined with hissing sound effects, is just ridiculously scary. I'm fine battling giant spiders when they're on the ground (and I had no trouble with the bigger spiders, or the Queens) but that animation and the surprise of A SPIDER LANDING ON MY FACE was just awful.

It actually made large sections of the game unplayable - in the sense that I'd have to cover my eyes while walking through caves or other areas with spiders in them.

This reminds me of a pen&paper RPG session I took part in many years ago.
The GM, fiendish as ever, had come up with the ultimate monster type... UNDEAD bees. Rotting flying insects EVERYWHERE!

That said, I can't come up with any monster type that would really creep me out in a game. However, I agree that in the DA series, giant spiders certainly had enough time in the spotlight. Maybe it's time for roaches of unusual size or rock-tunneling land piranhas. :)

You must really be a fan of schadenfreude. Normally I am as well but there is nothing funny about giant spiders.

spiders are the spawn of satan that is why they are used in everything because they are scary. I can play with snakes (as long as they aren't poisonous) seriously I raised snakes and I could have them crawl on me and hold them (boas that were around 5 feet long) while I watched TV. But I see a spider and I drop everything and run like a baby (well I am scared but not terrified of daddy long legs). but they are used so much they are a cliche. why not something new. Bioware be a trail blazer don't use spiders
