Am I late or just stupid?

It's taken me experience to know when to whip out the cobra to nuke enemies in a tight spot - usally in time to rev and save the wave.
Sometimes, however, I pull it out just in time to get grabbed by a nefarious banshee (I assume this is true of Praetorians and other insta-killing enemies). I pull the trigger just for the hell of it (because I'm annoyed at myself for getting grabbed) and then try again (because I'm extra annoyed).
Lo and behold, I save myself from insta-kill by firing two missiles.
Is this a proven savior or am I just way behind the times?

I've seen and done it multiple times. I think it's lag related. Only seen it with Banshees though...
This isn't new info either. It's been posted a few times before. Not for a long time though.
I may have been here too long...

I've saved myself a few times by doing that. Mostly banshees and praetorians tho.

Easier to use an ops pack right before a sync kill event. Been playing Cerbeus lately; whenever a phantom melees me, I push the ops pack button. If she stabs me, I get right back up -- with enough time to dodge or run away from her. Haven't tried it yet with Banshees, Atlases, Scions, or Praetorians, but I think that should work too.
Only works for a quick animation sync-kill.

I try and die with Cobra in hand.
Amen to that!
Thanks everyone for responding.
I was just so surprised to find this out a couple of weeks ago when I've spent a year being owned by stupid banshees etc.
This is officially the comeback. If it wastes two missiles, so be it. It actually felt so good in the moment while being stabbed in the stomach (actually being gutted). If something like that happened to me in real life, I know that I would pull the trigger with my dying breath - anything to give my squad mates every chance to make it through to the end!

Luckly it was last 2 banshees and the team was able to wrap it up.

I think this has happened to me once or twice, but it's not very reliable.
I can get that. I only tried pulling the trigger because I was angry with myself for getting grabbed in the first place. Of course I don't always have my cobra equipped when I get grabbed...

If you are getting sync killed, even if you don't have the missile launcher equipped, try firing. You usually cannot. However, there are rare moments you can. I believe those are the times you can rocket (when it's equipped). It is rare.

The animations are too long.
