 Alright

Here's the continuation of something I found out when pugging with the InfiDrell. Apparantely, my Recon Mine exploded instantly when put on the Hex Shield. What's even stranger, despite TC, it fcks up the cooldown system - seems like after doing this glitch, TC and RM have separate cooldowns. Which is weird, because when used normally, they both got the global one. What's even EVEN stranger, you can still detonate the Recon Mine you put on the HS, although you can't see it(works especially on the VolEngie).

They seem to provide the same damage as usual and do the same damage to HS's shields. Which, by my calculations, allow to do the glitch multiple times with only one Hex Shield. Which then allows several VolEngies or InfiDrells to bug the hell out of it, getting lots of damage.

What we know yet is presented in Jeremiah's video, although he was a lil' intoxicated when recording the voice-over(RECON, not REMOTE:kissing:). Still, I think you get what it's about.

For now we're looking for two people to help us see what happens when 3 Recon Mine users meet one Juggernaut. That'll be the next part of the experiment.

Meh, still prefer my Recon Mine for debuffing purposes (I don't play alot of Assassin, if using the DA, then yes, i'd just blow crap up).

Of course. I'm not saying that if you play VE/ID you have to look for a Jug. It's just here to show that there's such a glitch.

Also: inb4Working as intended

It's been a known feature that hex shield will detonate recon and proxy mines instantly. There was some big thread back when the Assassin+volgineer came out by one of the testers, i.e. cyonan, peddro, tyhw, etc. (not necessarily one of the guys I listed, though)

I've seen this in game and there's been a thread here about that. But someone said that you can still detonate RM after it hits hex thus making two booms.
Never tried this

That's true and I wrote about it in the OP.

The Volgineer/Juggy strategy would probably be something like what we did in the video. The Juggy places the Shield in an entranceway, and the Volus players launch mines at it.

Obviously, A Drell will want to avoid doing it!

Wait, did I get no-scope BW headshots?

You've mixed them up, I think. There couldn't have been a thread about that when they came out, because no kits had the Hex Shield power, yet.

I looked around, but I haven't found any threads detailing Hex Shield's interaction with Recon Mine or Proimity Mine, yet.

What I'd personally like to look at (or see someone else look at):

- How consistently can double-detonating Recon Mine be reproduced? (I found it only occasionally worked.)

- Does Volus cloaking before using the mine effect the refresh at all? (Common sense says it wouldn't, but something weird happens, or the Drell wouldn't lose the "global" cooldown effect when they do it.)

- How devastating can the effect be, if planned? We created a deathzone just doing the test across a doorway unintentionally. Doing that consistently, with two teams (1 Volus + 1 Juggy) might be able to literally trap the spawns between two mine-nuking death zones on Glacier.

Good point. I didn't quite get into Rozh's post. Are you finally away or able to play? :D

I'll probably have some time this morning in about an hour, but it would be rushed, because I have a few things to get done before I head out this afternoon.

It should be easy to get me for a couple of afternoons this week (evenings for you, I think) now that my data use has reset. I need to be a litte more selective with what I upload. :innocent:

I may or may not have been partially responsible for that. Image IPB

I think I've been a terrible influence on him when it comes to drinking-while-gaming and grabbing a fresh beer every other match. LOL

I think that the reason that Recon mine is being removed from the global cooldown is because of tactical cloaks ability to absorb other cooldowns within its own. Somehow detonating the recon mine on the hex shield makes it not absorb the cooldown. Therefore, I would assume the Volus cloak does nothing, since it has no effect on cooldowns.

I made one about how singularity can pick up a body and push a hex shield away 2 months ago, and mentioned about the whole double explosion thing, which I had read on bsn previously. It's been known for awhile.

Nice bonus, but I wouldn't go around trying to set it up all the time (not with the juggys speed at least.

Edit: Old thread mentioning it http://social.biowar.../index/16078884

Cain Mines stay on the Hex Shield. You can even make them float by moving the HS with CM on it.

Allright, more tests. With help of Rusty and Dax. Two VE and a GJ.
->The cooldown on the Recon Mine is normal when playing the VE.
->After the cooldown, the VE detonates his Mine, although it doesn't do any damage for the second time, despite keeping the visual effect
->The life of Hex shield most likely doesn't matter; you can host several RMs on it and it's still gonna expire on it's time or by changing it's placement only. Needs testing with three VEs.
->Here's a combination:
1.VE1 plops his Recon Mine on the Hex Shield. It blows up dealing damage.
2.VE2 plops his Recon Mine. Same results.
3.VE2 'detonates' his RM. None damage.
4. If VE1 is hosting, ##placing another RM causes it to do the visuals(none damage) and he can go for another one instantly(deals damage, cycle repeats), although VE2 as off-host, won't see the red part from last point.

More tests to come....

DragonRacer's fault. I blame her. It's very convenient, actually. Next time I screw something up, I should say, "DragonRacer's fault." They won't understand, but it won't matter.

Some interesting information here...
but let`s be honest. Nobody needs HS to detonate proximity mine... (so keep this one out of topic)

Correct. But this is pure fun mining, since the support is over.
