I started replaying DA:O and overflow the wiki page with known bugs where the bold quote "EVERY ENDING WHERE ALISTAIR DOES NOT BECOME KING IS BUGGED."
got my attention.

I am yet not sure, if Alistair will become King in my current (new) playthrough, but if this bug is still true, I have no choice, do I?

Well, depends. There is a bug where a couple of the dialogs have him give the "I'm king" even if he's not. But in these cases, there is no alternative dialog (once is at redcliff castle, once is just before the arch demon). However, he really isn't king and the bug is just dialog.

Now, on the xBox, there may be a different bug. However, on the PC, the flags do get set properly for Gray Warden Alistair, even if those two dialogs are bugged.

Yeah, those two are pretty silly.  His final words before slaying the archedemon shouldn't be him imagining things that aren't true :P

I've left him at the front gates with my character who romanced him and had him stay a Warden (without going through with the Dark Ritual).  It's sweet that he'll sacrifice himself to save her (and won't give her a choice if she insists on dying instead) but his "I'm king" speech breaks immersion in an otherwise touching moment.  *shrugs*

Hmm, is there no mod trying to fix this, btw.?

IRS-Alistair fixes it (along with some other broken dialogue). So does ZDF. (Those two mods aren't compatible out of the box, BTW, though it's easy to make them so.)

ZDF and IRS Alistair have the same fixes. The advantage to IRS Alistair is if you romance Alistair there are additional scenes. If you don't, it's easier just to use ZDF.

Bah, it's mods like these that sometimes make me consider switching over from console gaming. I don't mind minor bugs but Alistair's "king speech" before his sacrifice really does ruin the moment :/

in the codex  in the character part look in  Anora codex if you see this
In the end, Anora was deposed, and Alistair was given the throne.
than you got the bug

There have been fixes for this issue on the PC since about 1 month after release. I remember an epilogue slides fix and then it got more in depth, ZDF fixing a lot of NPCs and Leliana, then you can get Morrigan Restoration Patch for her and IRS for Alistair. You just have to love it. Dragon Age 2 would be playable, and probably quite good if they had released a freaking toolset.

As frustrating as modding DOA may have been, there have been awesome mods for that and it's easier to play a lot of mods than say with Bethesda's Games (that probably has gotten better since I last played).

The sad part is, this is kind of a key story moment for the game and Bioware never fixed it but as that only affects console gamers I will forgive them.

Oh, I thought this was about something else.

I just had a buggy ending when Anora becomes Queen and Alistair is left at the gates during the final battle, Alistair just disappears. The game implies that he died at the gates, but it's not depicted in game, so it feels like a cheap plot death because they don't have a spot for Alistair in the epilogue when he's not king.
