BotB banner achieved

Not bad for someone who had never even played a multiplayer online game before October last year, only started playing after the Retaliation DLC came out, and still manages to consistently miss headshots using the Salarian Infiltrator. Not to mention heavy melees with the Krogan...
I am most assuredly not the Best of the Best. More likely Mildly Competent With Some Understanding of the Game Mechanics and Too Stubborn To Quit. Why Bioware has not already made a banner for this, I do not know, but if they did, I would wear it with pride, and a feeling of mild competency. Maybe with a picture of Conrad Verner's face in the banner or something, I don't know.
Still, it was pretty fun getting this far. Well, excepting a couple of challenges....never again 200 waves with the Ex-Cerberus Vanguard, under any circumstances. Also, other mediocre players should appreciate my example - trust me, if I can do this, you almost certainly can. I cannot aim at all, I panic and run away when I get overwhelmed and OnlyUseMeGITalon whenever possible.
Funnily enough, I think the hardest challenges were the last two - Map Mastery and Promotions. Doing 100 waves on Gold Condor is not something I'd like to repeat, and Promotions was just tedious. I'm now sitting on 200+ level 1 power efficiency amps I have absolutely no use for, and I think if I play one more Silver game, I'm going to scream. SMG Mastery wasn't exactly a fun experience either, the Shuriken and Hornet are...not my favourite weapons ever. And I'm sure the Locust would be much better if not for, you know, not being able to aim.
So, with that done, I guess I'll be looking now to doing Reckoning Mastery and getting my manifest maxed. Though I wouldn't be surprised to still have an Indra I when EA eventually decide to shut down the servers.

I only have the promotions left and that might take a month or so.
Some challenges are far too easy and some are far too... annoying. SMG Mastery, Bloodpack Mastery and Commando Mastery took ages to complete.
The Phoenix Vanguard 200 wave challenge was something I completed by hosting private bronze games. I didn't want to inflict that misery on others. ^^

Promotions can be done fairly quickly, if you concentrate on one class at a time, play Silver and sink all your money into spamming recruit packs. It's still tedious, don't get me wrong, but I managed to do it in a little over a week. Though I was up to 20 odd promotions before I decided to focus on the challenge, and I can play a few hours a day no problem, so your mileage may vary.
Yeah, some of the Alien Mastery challenges were pretty crazy. I love the Council Races, don't get me wrong, but there are a LOT of them, and 200 waves with most of them takes a hell of a long time. I also grinded out the Phoenix classes on Bronze, though not solo. I would like to apologize to everyone forced to witness that.

WRT aiming (and head shots) ... break apart the tasks, work on the component pieces, then put it all together for the win. Really. Works for the Locust, sniper rifles, anything that requires zoom aim to be effective, has a decent headshot multiplier or is on one end or the other of the low damage-high fire rate/high damage-low fire rate spectrum of accurate weapons.
Keep on keepin' on DaemionMoadrin, you'll get there ... there are threads on how to make promotions easier, so I won't repeat what you probably already know (and I think hinted at by OP), (
Again, OP, congratulations, well done.

Promotions have been going faster than expected as I'm using the above method, spamming Silver matches and spending every last penny on recruit packs. Would recommend the same thing to most people just be prepaid to spend about 10-12 minutes for every 100K credits worth of recruit packs you buy.
I'm 19 promo's away at this stage, there are other drips and drabs but they'll all be finished well before that number of promotions. At this stage the only challenges I will NEVER actively bother doing again are 200 waves and N7 promotions, I enjoy being able to switch kits without any restrictions.

A medal, a chocolate coin, a pat on the back?
FORGET IT!
No one cares what you got, NOT EVEN YOUR OWN MOTHER!
Now maggot, get off your pansy ass and make some credits.

I'm "just" the Map Mastery away from the "BotB" (which I am decidedly not) myself.
I just finished the N7 Mastery yesterday. I thought about the Recruit spamming, but chose to just do the Bronze-Silver get it to 20, promote, rinse repeat. So now, I'm focusing on the Gold. Which is about time for me.
Okay, enough hijacking your thread. Great job! Now go back to having fun.

best of the best means nothing. It ain't the clothes you wear, its how you wear em. I have many challenges I have not unlocked because i'm gold all the way and some things just aren't worth the hassle. I rock my outsider banner cause not too many other players do and outside of that, the level of my guns speak for themselves, and my challenge points are high because i keep cracking the faction challenges with all those enemy points. The existence of bronze and silver negates a lot of the value of certain challenges that are quite hard on gold and above
Why **** on someones parade?

As long as you don't bite off more than you can chew (mainly rocket trooper spam as the deadly thing) it's about as straight forward as things can be.
Mandalorian is just justiftying his reasoning for not going for the BotB banner, when I have it myself I can also join in on the joke that it's not exactly accurate
