I'm playing a level 49 Adept female Shepard on Insanity to transfer to ME2 -> ME3. There is hardly anything else to do but go to Ilos, and I feel unprepared. My first impression is to take Tali for her hacking, but who else? I know that I will be going up against Primes and Colossi at certain parts, but mostly just tons of Geth and those effing Geth snipers. Kaiden was killed and I regret it, everyone else is present. There is some Tungston 6 and 7 rounds to equip. If only luck could have given me more and better loot.

Tali or Garrus for unlocking.
Liara might be a good second choice so you can disable everything. Between her Lift and your Lift (and hopefully your Stasis) you should be able to keep the final boss harmless while you shoot it to death.

Failing that, probably Wrex for his tanking abililty.

Agree with RedCaesar. The more biotics, the easier the final battle becomes. It can be a bit annoying otherwise.

You're already past the most difficult part of the game, which is really very side missions at low level.

Anyway, Tali and Wrex would be an ok team. Tali / Liara wouldn't be bad but you don't have any tanks that way. Just have to Lift and Singularity all the things preemptively.

I usually go Garrus and Liara though.

Thanks guys! I took Tali and Wrex and wrecked that part on Ilos with the geth destroyers, the part I feared the most. And then that struggle with Saren, Tali sabotages him and he does the same to all three of us. The only window any of us can deal damage is between those powers. Saren on the hovercraft seemed the more difficult confrontation, but yet relaxing at the same time. Wouldn't it be great if Saren appeared at that last part in ME3 as part of the indoctrination theory.

Anyone with Lift. Other than that your companions are fairly useless in combat especially on insanity.

I disagree, Ashley on insanity shine more than others in the soak damage department, even Wrex.

There isn't anyone better than her on this, she's even capable of receiving 5 full blows of those three Krogan at Feros in Gavin Hossle sidequest and still survives (if you build her correctly of course)! :o

But at level 49, with spectre weapons, colossus or predator H armor and overpowered omni-tools and implants the squadmates really doesn't matter anymore, on this I agree with you. LOL

One thing interesting I like to do is play the game WITHOUT the Spectre gear. Sure, the beginning weapons suck hard, but as you progress they become better and better, the Raiku pistol at level VII matches spectre gear in accuracy, has better rate of fire and the damage of the weapon is not too much behind.

And surprisely, your squadmates are much more helpful since you aren't overpowered. ;)

Wrex is better that Ash at soaking damage, both have heavy armor, both have immunity, Wrex also has barrier.

Agree.

If you have Pinnacle Station, run a Survival match with Ashley and Wrex and see who lasts longer. They both last a long time, but eventually Wrex outlasts Ashley since he can (somewhat) alternate Barrier and Fortification to keep him alive.

Ashley has Adrenaline Burst to reset her own powers, but eventually both Adrenaline Burst and Fortification will be on cooldown with Immunity off. With

Wrex's Barrier has enough of a duration that he can keep it up a long enough time to try to make up for Fortification's lack of duration which cannot be augmented with mods (unlike Barrier which can increase duration with a good biotic amp). Eventually he will go down, but he will last longer than Ashley at least in my experience.

Also agree, but I have to add that I never found Ashley lacking as a tank. Even on Insanity she did just fine and I've never felt like she was any weaker than Wrex, even though I know she technically is. Immunity is just that good.

On topic: anytime I'm playing a biotic character, my favortie teammates are Ashley and Garrus. Lots of weapon damage, Ash is a sponge, and Garrus can Sabotage anything to compliment my own crowd control. Excellent team, IMO, and also my 2 favorite characters in ME1.

Yeah I sort of agree. If you have Ash in a heavy armor from HK, Rosenkov, or Kassa she is going to tank real well.

Early game I suppose it depends on what you have managed to level up on either of them.

Oh, I'm not saying that Ash tops Wrex by miles and miles, only that's easier to tank her than Wrex.
To do this Ash needs only a few powers and a good armor, while Wrex - specially earlier game - you'll basically need to somewhat forget about warp and throw.

And those are very good powers to be hindered by tank him while you have other options. ;)

I guess it depends on what role you want Wrex to fill. When I take him, it's for his tanking and not his power slinging, so I never feel hindered by waiting until later in the game to develop his biotics. By the same token I don't feel that Wrex is a good enough biotic to fill the crowd control role on the team, so if he's there he's always accompanied by Kaiden, Liara and/or a biotic Shep.

That's why I prefer Ash than Wrex early game, throw and warp are very usefull to be wasted, specially when dealing with battlemasters on insanity. But correct me if I'm wrong wrex was never design to be a pure crowd control fighter, he complement bitiocs Shep or Liara/Kaiden.

And Ash has a plus: she can use pistols. ;)

But after level 17/18 I usually switch her and go the rest of the way with Wrex if I need a tank, since I have enough points to tank him and make good use of his biotcis.
