So, much to my chagrin, I recently discovered the PC bug in the Silverite Mine in which my main character's equipment was permanently destroyed instead of recoverable.
Unfortunately for me, I only realized that it was a bug when I reached the very end of the dungeon and still lacked my warden's gear. At this point, all 5-6 of my autosaves and the quicksave slot are past the point at which my gear was destroyed. Seeing as my warden was equipped with a full set of Sentinel plate with runes I'd spent easily over a hundred gold crafting, is my only real option now to start over completely?

Especially considering that I'm at the very end of the game, this is pretty devastating.

yea, if you have no earlier save to get to, you will have to start over. Certain items imported from Origins caused the bug. Make sure you have the latest patch (there's been one on the boards for a while now that fixes it). What I did was put anything that could cause an issue in the chest in Vigils and then bought some gear off the vendor to equip on the Warden till I could get back and reequip my good gear. One way to see if you've triggered the bug is when you encounter the Architect in that first scene, you can see him and the warden and the rest of the screen is all black. Also the warden will be nude instead of wearing peasant garments (which he should have on) when he wakes in the cell.
You will not want to do the silverite mines last, not to spoiler too much but you will miss making the companion there a warden if that's the last place you do. I'd recommend saving blackmarsh for last since the NPC there is already a warden.

That, probably, won't be much of use to the OP, but I suffered same bug just yesterday for the first time, and while I was aware that it;s a good idea to save right before the door - I did not do it ( because on my first pt everything went fine). So, I found myself with all of my inventory with me aтв completely naked. No need to say that warden's "experimental subject" never spawned. And my previous non-quick save was at the beginning of the forest ( ~2h of gameplay). I really-really did not want to replay that again, so here's what I did.
I finished the dungeon as I was ( with some random loot and leftovers from my inventory on my Warden, and rest of companions got their gear back). It's good idea to set difficulty to the easiest mode at this point, by the way. Then I left location, returned to Amaranthine and saved. Then I used save editor and copy-pasted my equipped items from previous normal save. It works.
While it sounds complicated - it's not so, and it's much faster then replaying few hours from your last save.
Exact list of actions if bug happened, and your save is few hours back:
1. beat SM with what you got
2. Do NOT touch the chest (your inventory is with you and it's empty anyway)
3. Get out of the dungeon elsewhere
4. Close DA and use save editor, make sure your equipped items section looks EXACTLY as it looked in your non-bugged old save. Save it
5. Run DA, load fixed save.
NOTE: You may indeed try copy-pasting your equipment while being in mines asap. But I'd not recommend so. When I tried it, it worked, but I could not leave the location - game 100% crashed on trying to exit to the world map several times. I suppose, the location itself has some sort of problems, because after I finished my "naked run" and edited save in Amaranthine - it worked fine, and no crashes so far.
NOTE2: If you equipped something between your old save and entering the mine, and you really-really want it back - you can either replay from old save or try to find out the exact item code for the item. In my case - I did not change anything for my warden at this location, so that was not the problem.
ps: or you can do, just as all the guides tell you - SAVE before entering mine )))
