I've played through the first and second games and have done everything for my Spacer/War Hero Shepard.
The only thing left in ME2 is "Arrival."
Now I confess that I don't like the DLC. I find its story lacking and the heavy focus on combat to be irritating.
Previously I've always imported Shepards into ME3 who have done Arrival and its impact was 'slight' to say the least.
So I suppose what I'm really asking is, will I get any big negatives if I don't play arrival.
Worth playing Arrival before importing?

There isnt any negatives really, but I like it because it links ME2 to ME3 very well.

I play it. It only takes about 45 minutes to complete. The only hegative is less war assets than you could've had if you do the dlc. I don't know how many you lose by not doing it.

My problem is that it really doesn't seem to do that. It seems like it will if you play it after the Suicide Mission but come Mass Effect 3 and it doesn't.Eamon696 wrote...

I've just played through the opening of Mass Effect 3 with an import that didn't include Arrival and it changed nothing but a handful of lines while you are walking along with Anderson.
I can't say I'm bothered about the War Assets. The ones I've gained through the multiplayer have left me with enough that I could go straight to the final battle at the start of the game and get the 'breath' scene.themikefest wrote...

While it may only be 45 minutes, that is time that I could spend doing something I enjoy. Rather than playing a combat based DLC in a game where I don't like the combat.
As I touched on above in ME2, Arrival seems like it is going to play a huge part in Mass Effect 3 but it simply doesn't seem to be the case at the moment.

I would play it. I would just want it for the complete experience, though I also don't like it that much, I do like surviving the five waves

If you've always imported it before, you may as well not do it this once simply to get some extra lines of dialogue here and there.

You get to hear Anderson refering to what happens in the DLC instead of him saying "The **** you done" in a generic black-guy way, which doesn't fit his character.

Like most tine-ins it is barely mentioned and they quickly bulldozer over every little choice you've made in the last 5 years with ME3 but hey
Still the best. Could have been way better. It is what it is.

The difference is a throw away line from Anderson. Other than that it's basically head canon **** why Shepard was locked up

If you have it, play it. I'd almost say buy it. Along with Anderson getting lines that make more sense, in my opinion it does tie into the beginning of Mass Effect 3 better.

It is referenced both in the introduction which makes Anderson's dialogue better imo, and Liara also references it in the second main mission. You also meet a batarian from a certain ME1 DLC who mentions it, i think. After that i believe it's forgotten.

What about with Balak and the Batarian Terrorist?
They both make references to the fate of Aratok with import games I have done with Arrival completed, the terrorist even identifies Shepard as the one responsible.

I think it's worth playing if only for the "Shepard's tearing us apart!" bit.

QFT, the project guards are hopelessly outmatched and they know it. Almost as good as the CAT6 chatter in the Citadel DLC.
"They have a Krogan! Why don't we have one!"
