The first game I can actively remember playing was Civ II, way back when I was probably six or so years old. I had no idea what I was doing, mind you.

My very first contact with videogames would be Castle Adventure.
I was barely able to read, even less so in english. The ogres, in the form of what I identify now as apparently some kind of old IBM code smiley face, I got nightmares from. Because they would come for you. SO fast. Okay, let's talk about something else, please.

The first game with "real graphics", that I would devote hours playing on my own like I do now, was Monkey Island.
(Sorry for considering it a necessity to include a wikipedia link to this game, people my age.)

I believe the first game I played was one of the old King's Quest games way back when. I also used to play a Wheel of Fortune game from the same era. They were both on one of those really old Macintosh computers my grandparents had.
The first game I remember playing on a system of my own was Mario for NES. The first games I remember playing, and loving, were Donkey Kong Country for SNES and, like you Crimson, Sonic1 for Sega.
Sadly, I no longer have my Sega nor my SNES, but I'm pretty sure my NES (with no cords or controllers) is in my basement.
EDIT: Reading some of these posts has shook loose some long forgotten memories of Duck Hunt and Paper Boy on the NES.

On one of these old TI consoles which ran on Basic (and you could write your own applications to it, but it had no permanent storage):

We had three games:
A competitive race game called Car Wars

A tank game, Blasto.

I'm afraid I don't remember the last one right off hand. It's been a long time since I've seen these.
