The first time I played video-games I was 5. I played some DOS games on the DOS PC from my dad but I was too young to really know what I was doing.

The first game I ever seriously played was Mario Land on the Gameboy classic. I was 7 years old I believe.

Same here!

You know which game on my grey brick I loved even more?

Played that one shortly after Mario Land 1. Still one of my favorite Gameboy Mario games up to date.

But the game that REALLY kept me going for hours was this one:

Then of course came this game, and we all know how that went:

Holy crap the memories. I used to have a Gameboy with Tetris, Mario Land, Mario Land 2 and Metroid 2: Return of Samus - and that's it. Those four games kept me entertained for years.

Lost them all when I moved to England. Losing Metroid 2, in particular, drove me nuts because it was the only one of the three games that could be completed that I never got to complete before losing the Gameboy. I considered it an "unfinished business" that gnawed at me ever since, and it was only a few years ago that I finally completed it through emulation. I considered it for the good of my sanity.

Considering I was six or seven I can only say what I recall. That game is Dune.

Not Dune 2 the RTS, but just Dune.

This thread has popped up a lot recently too, but by different users. Also my brain registered Ghost's post as UMVC3. *facepalms self*

The Mario Land games were so frikkin great. I forget which I played more between the 2. Never had Wario Land for long, it was always something my older brother borrowed from a friend of his. Lets also not forget this little gem on the GreyBrick™ either.

Hell let's just derail this into a retro game reminiscing thread. We've had enough of this type of thread anyway.

Star Wars Shadows of the Empire for the Nintendo 64. But that was too hard for me, so instead my parents swapped it for Super Mario 64.

So yep. Super Mario 64, technically ;)

I'm down with that. I'm not really feeling the idea of staying on topic in a repeat thread.

Works for me. I'll start by writing about one of my favourite games of all time: a DOS game named Fragile Allegiance.

It's a real-time 4X space strategy, which I originally got for free as part of a PC Gamer magazine subscription. I chose it over the likes of C&C: Red Alert because I somehow got it into my head that it "kinda looked non-violent." I got my PC gaming start on SimCity 2000 and a couple of side-scrolling space shooters, and as a result I was a timid city management-playing herbivore, and for a while, I played FA like that too.

That was, until the one of the aliens attacked and wiped out one of my colonies.

That attack woke something inside of me. I wanted vengeance. I wanted retribution. I wanted alien blood. I built a big fleet of my own and sent it at the aliens. My heart quickened as my fleet slowly made their way towards the alien asteroid. As my fleet arrived, I was treated to a spectacular light show of laser fires and explosions. As I waited nervously for the outcome of the battle, I revelled in the destruction of my enemy and worried for every loss I took. Finally, as the music calmed down to signal that I was victorious, I was awash in the ecstasy of violently vanquishing my foe for the first time.

I shed all inhibitions towards violent games that day, going on to buying and enjoying games like Doom 2, Quake, Total Annihilation, Command & Conquer games, System Shock 2, and of course the BioWare games. Before that day, everything I killed in a game were like computerized balloons; that battle was my first against a random, unscripted AI opponent. That was, as far as I concerned, my first "real" video game kill.

I've been on a rampage of virtual death, mayhem and destruction ever since.

It's my first real RPG, I guess. But prior to it I hadn't played anything significant nor memorable, so it might as well be my first actual game.

Either Pokemon or one of the Mario platformers was one of the first games I ever played.

It's kind of funny that a 2004 or 5 Nintendo DS closely resembles an early 80's Nintendo Game & Watch.

I had that Donkey Kong game. Played it extensively during school break time.

Alas the first game I ever played was Submarine on the ZX Spectrum. I feel old!

Link's Awakening! The wind fish!!! Awesome game. Eagle's Tower was hard for me back then.

My first game was either Duck Hunt or Super Mario Bros. back around 1990. I played both my first night playing a game, I forget which was first. I loved gaming ever since.

Probably Mario or something.

But the first game I remember having an impact on me.

Half Life. I was 13. And It was good ole' 2002 and I just got my first "gaming" pc. I could play Half-Life and CS on it.

Never looked back. Turned me onto first person shooters and gaming in general. Huge impact. Without games like Half Life, Halo, KoTOR, Metal Gear Solid, GTA 3, Crash Bandicoot. I wouldn't have given two Sh!ts about gaming. I'm glad I got to play them.

The image decided it didn't want to show it self, it's a very shy image.

Game: Pilot Wings 64

Played it at the house of my mother's boyfriend. They broke up after 9 months but he gave me his N64 with around 20 games. :)
