I believe it was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater on the PS1.
What that guy said.

Pac man when I was 4 or 5. They had this tabletop arcade game at the pub where my dad used to hang out a lot.

I've probably played other things on friends' consoles before that, but that was the first real pc game I got my teeth into.

Great strategy game. As good as Age of Empires II (similar gameplay).

^Ah, that brings back memories! ![]()
I remember my special strategy in some of the player vs computer forest teamfight maps - I'd get artillery and air transport built as soon as possible - find the densest patch of trees and make a clearing in the middle using artillery - then use the air transport to relocate what I needed from the starter base to this new location, sacrificing it.
The good thing was the time it took to set this up was similar to when enemies would start to send serious units to attack you, which was great because I'd be like "yep, go on take it", then vanish to a new hidden location with natural defences while building up forces.
Would take ages for mining bots to clear through the trees to reach me!

Cool. Forest, islands, fortress and space maps give you defensive advantages and I like(d) them more. Despite a highland map is something quite challenging and enjoyable.

This is the first game I can remember playing. The graphics were quite... primitive compared to modern graphics in our current games.
