Please bring back mana clash. Was it way too overpowered? Absolutely. Was it awesome? Absolutely.

did it crash the game 80% of the time? Absolutely, the same with the templar spells (well at least for PC it did)

Not on my rig.

But yeah, if they bring it back it needs serious nerfing.

Mana clash was definitely an "I win" spell, but damn, I loved to win with it. So much fun.

Yup, but it is still awesome.

It crashed peoples games? Why?

Anyway it is hecka overpowered so it should take like all your mana or something. Which is what the description implies anyway iirc.

The only times Origins crashed for me was during conversations, never because of Mana Clash or any other combat abilities.

I thought Mana Clash was fair play considering how deadly enemy magic casters could be in DA:O; getting crushing prison cast on you was like a guaranteed death.

But would you still like it if it was balanced? What set it apart besides the "I am a God amongst men"-feeling that it invoked?

But it was funny watching the magi fall over dead.

Have your party mage cast a Force Field on the person who's been cast on Crushing Prison = you'll live (provded, of course, that party mage isn't the person being Crushed, in which case... )

I've been doing a Nightmare playthrough with a mage Warden and having Mana Clash has made some of the parts of the game way too easy, as in "I have to check if this is still on Nightmare" easy, which is sometimes a bit ridiculous.

But... it is awesome.

So, I'd say: bring it back, but nerf the everliving daylight out of it.

Maybe mana Clash could be made with different mechanic such as in DotA Magina ability.

http://www.playdota....eroes/anti-mage

Mana Break - Each attack destroy mana based on skill level
Mana Void - Creates a powerful void in an enemy unit caused by a lack of mana. For each mana point missing, the unit takes damage.

Magina is a perfect "Anti Mage" class in DotA

Overpowered spells like mana clash are probably the closest thing Bioware will ever have to "skip combat". So expect some more like it in Inquisition.

I wouldn't mind seeing it return, maybe nerfed a bit, such as the proportion of mana lost to health lost being reworked so one-shots are less common.

I don't think nerfing it is a good idea. You needed to learn 3 other spells just to use it at all, and at least the first two were useless (can't remember what the third spell was). With limited skill points, using 4 of them to learn one useful spell is a big investment. Plus, the whole point of the spell was that it was OP. Why would you bother with this spell if it wasn't? If it doesn't 1-shot lieutenant level mages, you're better off just using things like Blood Wound, Sleep, Paralyze, or even Fireball. If the mage is paralyzed or knocked down, chances are they're going to die anyway.

I'd be in favor of bringing back mana clash as long as it's the version that doesn't crash my game

I loved it! But it was over-powered so I don't think it'll be back in the same form as before. I really liked that you could use it on abominations also :)

The spell was so broken - especially as you got to higher diffuclties - that wasting 3 talents (especially when most spells suck) wasn't much of a cost. It's a big investment, but it's so OP precisely because of how useful was.

Probably generated an invalid number from time to time.
