I know i should use mass effect 1 forum but is anyone there? ok So im about to restart mass effect and im excited for some reason but i need advice i want to use the soldier class for the first time but i also want to do an insanity run (i want my trophy) since ill start at level one do you think is logical to do so? i mean i read other forums saying to start a newgame+ but since i never had a save with a male or a soldier i can't and i wanted to know if it's smart to do an insanity run?
Also the trophies like "Lift mastery" or "warp mastery" do i have to use my Shepard or can i use teammates?
I need advice

Started an insanity run a few months back, I remember getting hard time on Krogans because Shields don't block melee attacks. It's still doable, just don't start on therum unless you can take that krogan warlord.
Not sure about mastery, but I'd say Shep need to be the one to do it.

I actually want to do the same thing OP.
I played the first game twice already, but never played on a difficulty higher than normal. I think that if you start at lvl1 on insanity, you should play as either a soldier or infiltrator and do all available sidequests before Therum if possible because the extra experience will help.

The problem with a Soldier Shep on Therum early is that the most efficient way to handle the krogan is to keep him stunlocked with biotics until his allies are down. You should be able to suppress him with Kaidan and Wrex, though, if you leveled them sensibly.
Mastery is determined by Shepard, not the NPCs.

I find insanity is best with the Adept, you probably can do it with a Soldier, but I gave up trying for it felt like a huge grind with enemies spamming their defensive abilities.
For the Mastery Achievements, it must be done by Shepard.
