I can't beat Sarevok!

me (sorcerer), Imoen, Minsc, Dynaheir, Jahaira, Khalid, all level 6 or 7
I'm aware of the mass summoning method. This isn't working for me. I have either EasyTutu or BGT installed (I forget which and I'm at work right now), which I believe is limiting my controlled creatures to five.
I've probably tried this fight 15 or 20 times, and most of the time I don't even come close. Once that mage comes down and starts shooting fireballs I'm screwed.
I even got the scroll of Cloud Kill but it's not helping much.
Is there a way to deactivate the summoning limit for the mod?
I have Tales installed. Can I level my way to victory? Can I start the expansion quests without beating Sarevok?

2) buff to the max - spells, scrolls, potions
3) Suggested way to pull - have someone other than the PC move up and left, being careful not to to trigger traps, basically skirting the bhaal circle but not stepping in it - fire a necklace of missiles out of sight at the dais then return to the party. Often only Semaj and Sarevok come, which can make it easier.
4) Use dispelling arrows on both Sarevok and Semaj. If Angelo appears, however, kill him first, as he fires many arrows of detonation.
5) Use your best ammo
6) Sarevok can get stuck in webs especially if you greater malison him first (doom too if you have), this can make it easier to kill him at range.
7) If you have a thief, they can backstab Sarevok/invis potion and repeat to burn him down quicker
8) If necessary, Kite Sarvok - e.g., someone with the haste boots and haste potion is faster than him, they can shoot/run and repeat until he is dead. Note that you can turn off AI and make your PC invisible - this way Sarevok will always ignore you and your kiter can get to work.
You are definitely high enough level.

The expansion quests can be done before beating Sarevok, what's more, you cannot do them after beating Sarevok, once Sarevok is beaten, the game ends. Visit the town of Ulgoth's Beard to start the quests.
(had to Google for remembering the name of the town, it's too long since I've been playing BG and my memory suffers from early old age - and guess what: Son of Imoen's portrait made it to

Does the Necklace of Missles just shoot magic missles? Can I buy one at Sundry's in BG?
I'll try using web. I didn't have any luck with Entangle

It will definitely help you if you continue questing until you're party have reached the experience cap (161.000 xp), it will give your party-members some 2 levels more and thus more spells to chose from, better to hit, more hit points.

You're famous!
I had no idea the game ended after beating Sarevok. I guess I don't want to fight him now anyway. Thanks.

While certainly it might be easier to get more experience first, I have soloed that fight with a level 7 fighter - so getting max level is not necessary at all.
But in that case, it's the gamer himself (for instance a man like Corey Russell) who uses his/her experience to win the fight.

Depending on how quickly you retreated Sarevok may not come all the way forward, so you may need to go towards him a bit again, but don't go further than you need to to trigger his conversation or you risk the others coming as well. With Sarevok on his own you should find it pretty easy to kill him. Note that though he is very resistant to elemental damage, he takes full magic damage. Magic missiles are therefore a good spell choice (so is skull trap, although targeting that on him and not yourself can be a problem).

Two are available.
One you buy in Nashkel Carnival and the other is given as a reward for helping a woman give her son a necklace of protection +1. To do that quest, the leader of your party needs reasonable charisma and you need a reasonable reputation. Sorry, I don't know the numbers. The woman lives in the central area of BG at the extreme left of the area.
If your necklace charges are running out, you can sell the necklace at High Hedge and buy it back. It will have 50 or 100 charges then. It will not be cheap, but at the end of the game you have plenty of gold anyway. The number of charges depends on the set-up that you have.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Wise, but there are THREE necklace of missiles you can get. If you kill the three sisters guarding the Skyship components one of them also has a necklace of missiles.

Including a fourth one at the Elfsong Tavern?
(just checked and he had several nice items such as shield amulet and protection from petrification scroll).

In my installation that shop actually shares the same inventory as the one in the carnival - hence you can't buy protection from petrification from both. I don't know if that's the same in vanilla.
If there's true, then that means there are only 3 necklace of missiles since the necklace of missiles would be the same too.

The limit on controlled creatures applies to ones you summon with spells. If you use wands of monster summoning, you can fill the room with critters.
Another thing you can try is the "Hero method". Put someone with high dex in Full Plate +2, Golden Girdle, Large Shield +2, Helm&Cloak of Balduran, basically load up AC like mad. You can get your vs Slashing down to about -18, which even Sarevok has trouble hitting. Put them up against him while the rest of the party whittles him down.

Please also remember this: Imoen (as thief) can hide in shadows, and backstab people (potions of invisibility comes in handy here). Minsc and Khalid should have either gauntlets of Ogre Power or potions of Frost Giant Strengths. And go after Sarevok himself. Jaheira and Dynaheir should blast spells away from a safe distance, cloudkill is nice, especially when combined with the web spell. (and a few fireballs
One (cheesy) way to win this is battle is this way: Hit the spacebar immediately when you see Sarevok, then prepare all your guys for battle. When Sarevok stops talking, then hit the spacebar again. Another way to do this is a strategy called kiting: running around in circles around Sarevok and his minions. Basically, this means doing this: move your characters/figures around to avoid Sarevok's - and his minions - area of effect spells. When Sarevok has run out of spells, just pound him with all you get. Focus your fire (attacks) only on Sarevok...
----
As suggested by others you can also load the autosave before the last battle and decide to travel to Ulgoth's Beard. Have you been to Durlag's Tower yet? If you haven't, you really should do so.
If you go to Ulgoth's Beard, you'll gain at least one level, maybe two....you'll then be level 8 or 9 (most of your characters/figures will probably be level 9, though). I'm not sure, but I think that the game adjusts to your level, so that the fight will Sarevok will be a little more difficult than if you were say level 7. I can't remember this, though. Maybe other people remember if this is so?

I'm obviously too good for my own good.
