Hi, everyone! I realise that this is probably a stupid question, but I'm rather new to the ME series, so I'm not really familiar with the "import mechanics", so to speak. I did a search to look for an answer to my question, but I couldn't find anything, so I was hoping that someone on this forum might be kind enough to help.

I've completed ME1 and ME2 once, with the same character. Before starting ME3, I'd like to go back to ME1 and start a new playthrough with a new character. I play on PC.

Here's my question: If I do start an entirely new ME1 playthrough, is there any chance that I might mess something up when I try to import my new ME1 character to ME2, seeing that I've already used the Configuration Utility tool once? I'm a bit nervous that I might do something wrong and make the game unplayable. What would be the best way to import my new ME1 character to ME2 to ensure that I don't do anything that messes with the files and folders, etc.?

I hope I'm getting my point across here. English is not my first language, so this is a little hard for me to explain. Thanks in advance!

I play on PC and I have imported several characters from ME1 into 2. It's fairly easy to do. Just remember to name you Shep something different so you don't get confused which game you want to import. ;-)

Hi, Ferretinabun, and thank you for your reply! I'll definitely remember that  I get the impression that I should just use the Configuration Utility tool again, like I did when I imported my first ME1 character. If you tried importing a new ME1 character into ME2 after completing ME2 with another character, could you please let me know if that's how you did it? I'd just like to make sure, as my game crashed once when I tried to import a character. Luckily it sorted itself out then, but that's the reason why I'm a bit nervous about this.

This is what I used, and it's been fine every time.

No idea what the crash was about. Did you have the latest ME2 patch, perhaps...?

Yes, that's it. I seem to remember that I wasn't able to choose which exact file in the ME1 save folder I wanted to import (and that's the impression I get from the screencap on that website, too), so I'm worried that I might get duplicate files, and thereby messing something up, if I use the Configuration Utility tool again. Did that make any sense?  In any case, if it's worked for you several times, hopefully it will work for me, too.

No , I hadn't installed any patches when the crash happened. Thank you again for helping out a noob!
