I chalk up the perception of 'bad characters' to user error. There are a lot of characters that I can't play effectively (yet) but they're good characters.

I would say there are kits that are sup-par

Vorcha Hunter is an example. I can rock him on Gold with a venom/melee build. Really fun actually...

come platinum, he goes out the window. Terrible class for it.

on a serious note there are bad characters. They don't put out enough dps and are outclassed by another. classes like the hunter and bat sent come to mind.

sure a good player can do well with them but the character is still bad. The same way I've seen missile glitchers fail matches.

It seems 'bad characters' means difficult things to different people.

Maybe could say instead 'some characters are much more effective than others'.

As for the original question well... how a person plays does count on the kit in he end all you have to do is try him around with stuff until you find something that works well.

On topic, there are no "bad" characters, every kit in this game can dominate the enemies in the hands of a good player.

However, when discussing whether a kit is "good" or "bad" people are usually speaking relatively the competition. The volus sentinel certainly is bad when compared to the best characters in the game, but in and of itself it can work very well.

So yeah, it's "bad" when compared to the rest, but there is no such thing as a useless kit.

There definitely are bad kits. But a player does make the kit. and can even kill the best ones.

Drell Vanguard is an example. This is possibly the second worst kit in the entire game (volus sentinel) just due to the power combination. It does have it's usefulness, but every other vanguard does what it can do, and better. Despite this, I've seen several players use it to surprisingly great effect. It really boils down to how quickly and smartly you react, and understanding game mechanics.

Hmmm. Are you aware one of the few documented examples of a player scoring over 300k in a gold PUG was with a Drell Vanguard? Or perhaps you are trolling? I can't tell.

So Drell Passives (50% Power Damage) + Biotic Charge (40% Power Damage from Power Synergy evo) + Cluster Nades is bad power synergy?
