Dude, best comment I've seen all day. Asari, ftwIanPolaris wrote...
Of all of Shepard's possible Love Interests and Bed Partners, I too am inclined to agree that if Shepard had children at all, they'd be Asari. Near as I can tell, the mother would be either Liara, Consort, or Shialla. (I am guessing that even one meld with an Asari is enough for her to get pregnant by you at some indeterminate time in the future.)
As for the rest:
Biology will not cooperate for the following: Tali, Garrus, and Thane.
We also know (see Lair of the Shadorbroker files) that Miranda is incurably sterile.
Jacob is biologically possible, but in ME3 we learn that Jacob is a 'playa' and he ditches Shepard for someoe else almost as soon as Shepard is 'detained' and has a kid by her. If Shepard isn't pregnant by Jacob's kid when the Reapers invade (and it doesn't seem like she is), she never will be.
As for Jack, apparently Jack has some sort of neural-muscular degenerative condition which actually acts like a Biotic accelerant (read the Codex Entry on Jack's Bio-Amp in ME2). That being so, I don't think Jack is fertile either.
That leaves the VS, Liara, Shialla, and the Consort as possble candidates for parents of Shepard's kids and most of these are Asari.

But what about hybrid babies, I am sure that is pos... okay, sorry, couldn't even get through that with a straight face
Anyhow my Shepard and Tali will likely just adopt.

Yeah, with space magic everything is possible.

Dammit, I forgot about space magic. Now I feel stupid for joking about hybrid babies not being possible. Well, I mean, they are nonsensical and scientifically impossible, but with space magic anything can happen.

I'm actually in favour of having Shepard's kid as a squadmate in ME4 if it's a sequel, a soldier type trying to live up to their parents name. If save import still exists, a few lines of dialog could be change, with a few references to the LI chosen.
Although the Liara romance screws this up a little. Surely Liara wouldn't want to adopt a human baby when she can have an asari one that won't die before she's even a matriarch.
Though I presume ME4 will have a canon story chosen anyway, so this is obviously just a dream.

Considering all the advanced technology they have in the ME universe, I'm sure that my Shepard and Tali can find a way to reproduce. However, since Tali would be giving birth, it is a safe assumption that the child would be Dextro-DNA.
Without Space-Magic, no. Tali (and Garrus) are dextro-life while Shepard like most other life in the galaxy is levi-life. The proteins and sugars don't talk to each other at all. This would go way beyond gene engineering or gene spicing since the proteins themselves aren't even compatible.
Shepard is biologically closer to an Oak tree than he is to any of the alien LIs (and only the Asari have an explicit lore-based work-around).

sorry I'm just being realistic, being the child of "the savior of the universe" means pretty high expectations, which the children would almost certainly never live up to

Space magic or super high technology. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. But all they would have to do is get Shepard's Levo-DNA, decode it to know what features and whatnot, then construct a Dextro-DNA to match those features. Not complex for them if their technology is high enough to genetically engineer Miranda. Would just take a crap tonne of credits.

Nothing ruthless about consensual sex. I can both bang someone I love and someone I just find physically attractive. It's not always "love-making".
