What? Are you just making this up, or did this actually happen? I thought we had basically no personal information on both Riley and Marlene, but then again my memory is terrible.

So is this Riley kid going to be the daughter of that firefly woman (can't remember her name)? If so it would explain why she was such a heartless **** in the main game.

I actually thought she came across as fairly sympathetic when you find her diary and audio logs.

Maybe Thursday I'll check and see if my local Chapters has it.

@Cthulhu

You may be right, as I mentioned before I do have a terrible memory when it comes to plot details. The only reason I remember anything about Mass Effect is because I've played it so many damn times.

Aw, man - I'll be missing out on this DLC for a short while. Looking forward to it though.

Left Behind DLC is awesome! Even through it's quite short - I completed it in 4 hours on Survivor difficulty level. The original game is 18-hours-long on Hard difficulty level. So the full story is 22-hours-long right now, and I believe it's something like 15-hours-long (quite close to 12-hours-long Beyond: Two Souls one playthrough) on Easy difficulty level.

TLoU is one more proof that truly amazing stories don't require too much time to be told. And games like DE:HR show that excess gameplay isn't what making a story great. 50-hours-long DE:HR definitely has worse and shorter story compensated with too much gameplay, half of which wasn't really needed.

Finally freed up some space for the DLC -- Had to delete some games, one I actually might want to play again in the future, so I'll probably delete it again when I'm finished since I doubt I'd play this DLC again. I miss the days of Expansion packs -- DLCs that brought me back were usually expansion packs or the ones like in ME2. Something with replay value.

Played Left Behind. I wont talk about it yet, so more people can play it without spoilers, but I'll just say I really, really enjoyed it. I'd 100% recommend it for anyone who cares for back story, and wants to understand Ellie a little bit more.

I don't recommend it if the idea of paying $15 for DLC bothers you, or if not getting 5+ hours of shooting infected is a deal breaker.

Hmm... I don't think it will be a big spoiler, if I'll say the DLC didn't cover the whole time till the moment when Joel meets Ellie first time. Devs still have a room for one more DLC like Left Behind to cover that time. And I really hope they will do it.

I don't know if that time period is necessary to elaborate on, and I think Left Behind was effective specifically because if you have played the game, you already know the outcome (which I think in this case gives it more impact).

But there is definitely plenty of potential story prior to all of this with Joel's background, or if they want to focus on a new character, maybe Marlene.

They've already said that Left Behind is the only story DLC planned. Now they'll probably move on to Uncharted 4, a potential sequel and another IP they've been alluding to.

Ah, good to know.  There is a certain satisfaction in knowing this story has come to an end.

They aren't doing any more DLC. Also, I really hope they don't do a sequel. I'm just basing this off my experience with Uncharted and I found that the second one was the best one out of that series so far and the third one (while still being a great game) - had too much flash and not enough depth. So I'm hoping Naughty Dog is satisfied with how they concluded Joel and Ellie's story together and in relation to the DLC, I loved it and I recommend it to anyone who was a fan of the game - the price might be a problem for the length, but the quality in that DLC... so well done - those moments in the mall were so great.

I think my resentment towards them making a sequel is merely that in this day and age a game simply can't be a self-contained win, without being padded out with sequels or continuations like BioShock or something (This is what I'd refer to being the Ubisoft strategy for gaming) -- I can enjoy sequel like Silent Hill 2, where it's a fresh new start, new concept, new protagonist and new everything but still kept some fundamental factors like say the town/the setting. I don't mind sequels if say the developers had plans for a larger spanning-story or if it makes sense without having the games end on cliffhangers. In The Last of Us case I'd say it's best to leave it as it is now because I don't think they can do it better and shouldn't try. Just like Ridley Scott shouldn't try to make another Blade Runner.
I suppose the bright side to it all is that Naughty Dog has no intentions of continuing with Joel & Ellie at least, but the thing is that the setting of the Last of Us can only shock us so many times before it becomes tedious I think. That's why you don't see sequels to The Road.

Definitely, TLoU universe has great potential for some additional and truly amazing stories, including a sequel with Joel and Ellie as main characters. Devs might change their initial plans, because initial plans most likely were made when it was unknown if TLoU will become popular or not.

And their new IP... I really hope it will be sci-fi.

Yeah, I'm hoping they're at least done with Ellie and Joel - I'm content with the game and the experience I got out of it. There is still probably some interesting aspects to the world that they created, but at the same time, wouldn't it just be an aspect of "finding that cure" again? I don't want that.

What would that sequel include that wasn't already brought up?  Those two growing up together?  Ellie on her own?  How would the story be planned out and or structured to a point where it would make sense as a game?

The game starts out with Ellie killing Joel, and then it proceeds as a one man show, for she didn't kill him because he lied; she killed him because he stole her screen time.

I disagree about TLoU sequel. They can make a great sequel. Maybe make it even better than the original.

And about the price... The DLC is free for people who purchased the season pass :)

I don't really agree with that - making a game set in an already established zombie apocalypse universe was what Telltale did with The Walking Dead, and look how well that turned out. Provided ND has some good ideas for it and weren't making it just for the sake of having a sequel (like I feel they did with Uncharted 3) I don't see why a potential TLoU sequel couldn't be great.

Like I mentioned -- The heavy influences from litterature like City of Thieves, The Road & Children of Men shines through. They are all self-contained stories because they are not about trying to tell a story of a larger world but of the relationships between these characters and how they are trying to survive in this world. Children of Men ends up tightening the scales as it progress but otherwise that's how it is. I don't see anything more to be told from Ellie & Joel other than turning the franchise into some sort of Road Trip across America, where Joel & Ellie encounters new strangers every day with their hardships. But the problem with that is it'll at best become tedious, what with it being post-apocalyptic, the shock factor will just drop. That's how I see it. Perhaps it'll work if they chose to make a game with some new characters but I prefer if they just move on to something new. Specifically a Jak & Daxter sequel, Naughty Dog!

I didn't like the first episode of Season 2 all that much -- And characters dying left and right became tirelessly predictable after Season 1. You can only shock me so many times.
