Pretty sure I only killed two; the one in the school gym and the one you fight as Ellie. I'm pretty sure both have to be killed, too, unless you count letting your companion kill it as not killing it, which is cheating. :o

Companions can kill things? I thought they just did a bit of distracting, it was me doing most of the killing. That explains the bloater at least.

Edit: Oh, and there may have been one during the sniper's nest sequence too, I don't remember.

There's one in the college, too, blocking the exit, but you may be able to lure it away from the door. It was in the area with the lunch tables and the dorm rooms (and all the clickers). I opted to use a flamethrower on it, after stealth killing all of the clickers.

I'm not absolutely sure that was a required area of the campus.

As for the sniper's nest, we hightailed it out of there pretty fast (panic, mayhap?), so I didn't get a good look. Lots of clickers, though.

I assume so... I usually sneak so they just follow behind me but I'm sure most of them do some token damage in combat.

Yes, I snuk around that one, it's not hard to lure away. The one in the hotel basement, however, damn near ate my face in the process.

^ That one in the hotel basement took me a couple of tries. The best plan for me was to get familiar with the area, and basically just run up the ramp and out the door after starting the generator.

Chicken, yes, but it was the only way I made it out of there.

Rofl.  What I did basically was - I was lacking at ammo mind you - I would try to shoot it's "spores" and then run away and go silent and let it get confused and go back to it's pattern, then repeated till it died.  That generator part though, one of my favourite moments in th game.  I just bought a headset that day and the whole atmosphere of that segment was amazing, the ambient/scary sounds and music and just everything, ha.

Running around frantically with the shotgun worked for me, and when it was just the bloater left I hid in what I'm pretty sure were the toilets, but honestly anywhere is the toilet when you're being chased..

I don't know, there is just special about this game. It isn't the "perfect" game, but it achieved what I believe the developers wanted to do and it left me feeling just amazed. It has issues, but overall, I never felt like they hindered my playing. I did rage once, but that is because of this one fight that I was trying over and over again and it was late, haha.

My favourite aspects are the soundtrack - sound team - the characters and lastly... the little moments in the game.

Screw that, I literally just ran away after dying the first time, I was too busy ruining my underwear to stop and shoot. I explored everywhere and had everything set up before starting the generator and then legged it. The scary part is that it still almost caught me, it fired off a spore just before I got in the door.

I agree, that part was built up brilliantly. It left me afraid to to start generators for the rest of the game.

Edit: If you haven't already played it then Metro Last Light also had amazing ambient sound, they did a brilliant job of using sound to build tension. Awesome game too.

Damn, that guitar part starting around 1:09 is amazing, haha.  So simple, but sounds so nice.

Stay in the Joel mindset, stealth and searching every nook and cranny for bullets. It helps. I found it alot more intense than The Last of Us. I can't choose between the two of them for my game of the year so far.

I'm going to start a new game plus on the Last of Us, I hope you get to keep the weapons you gathered.

I beat it on Hard for my first playthrough and I'm going to do Survivor after my buddy is done with it. He's borrowing it tomorrow... but I still want to play, rofl.

I just finished the game last night, finally. Wow, what an amazing game. For me, it's right up there with Bioshock Infinite. It's a linear game, yes, but it's linear done well. Both are, actually.

I'm quite displeased with my performance, however - only 96 of 141 (?) artifacts. *sigh* I try to be very thorough, but I'm going to blame this one on my husband, who I was playing with. I'm the stealthy, calculated one who has to search every single drawer - he's the 'bust in, guns blazing' one. He doesn't take much time to look around for stuff, but he was handy to have around to hand the controller to, in parts where I was too scared to play. Hehe.

And where in the heck were all the Wanted Posters? We only found one. Granted, we weren't looking for them, either. I do believe this calls for NG+ to amend that.

One thing that's still in my craw, though...in a year of time together, Joel never bothered to teach Ellie how to swim? Seriously?

I presume the reason Joel never taught Ellie to swim was because the only times they were swimming, any cut could lead to a serious infection. Especially the flooded subways with rotting metal debris submerged.

Yes, you're probably right. I guess I was thinking that since they basically traveled cross-country, they might have occasion to stop at a lake, pond, etc., and take a dip. It would take away from the exploration of the game, admittedly.

And can I just say, in regard to the tunnel...good lord.

Same here, I think I might have finished on 89 and I searched everywhere. Took me 19 hours to finish and most of that was spent going through every single drawer. I also only had my tools upgraded to level 4. I think it's because the triangle sign comes up very small and I may have missed it at times, because I checked every nook and crannny that I could.
