Those mysterious interior*.git/gic and exterior.git/gic are from my Witcher Placeable Conversion Project, along with the wheel.nss/ncs (which is a failed attempt at getting the waterwheel to rotate, so please don't distribute that junk), carnivalskull.sef (which was just a joke, and of no real use), and a few other miscellaneous tests and other junk I had left in the module folder.  I expect the module.jrl itself is from that Witcher project, since it's distributed as a module folder with areas demonstrating the placeables in use, not just as a bare folder that can be turned into a hak.

If that is the case I will tidy up the witcher project on the next update. I would not have removed anything from the source file.

In this case, being that the source is a pre-release demo module, you should extract just the parts you need: the models (mdb) and the texture files (dds).  There's nothing else that would be useful to a builder except in one case -- a bookshelf, where I made a placed effect for the glass doors, which use ob_bookstand04window.sef and ob_bookstand04window.bbx.

Well, it loaded for a couple of seconds longer than before, but it still dumps me to the desktop when I try to get to the cove.

I'm back - I just ran into another problem. Since I couldn't get to the cove I decided to do the laundry girl quest, but the gang leader doesn't turn red. He tells his men to kill us but they all just stand there! I tried it a second time and got the same result.

Thanks Karen I thought that was fixed. It happened to come play testers too and I thought I had sorted that one out. I believe you can still complete the quest if you go back to the laundry girl as the quest updates on the attacking not on the killing of the gangs.

 

The module failing to load is one I am going to have to trawl the forums for :) It has only happened to you so far that I know of and it's a bit of a worry.

 

It's a side quest and you don't need to do it to get to the end. Have you yet tried to get to Hawk Spit island, that one has to load.

Hawk Spit Island? I haven't come across it yet. I stopped at the bar when I couldn't kill the gang leader and didn't save. I'll continue from there tonight and see if the quest updates for me when I return to the laundry. I haven't done the Navy docks yet either - I wanted to finish the side quests first but I'll head over there after I finish the bar fight.

Okay, that's good to hear.

 

I have just fixed the bar fight issue I think going to test now. Hawk spit does not come intill after you have ... I wont spoil, it comes later.

 

I have rearranged the module that has Hope cove in it and will update that once it is tested. In the meanwhile I will link it here in the next hour or so and you can test the new arrangement?

Sorry, but I don't have good news. The gang in the iarch tavern still don't turn red, but I was able to kill a couple and the guest did update. I still can't get to the cove though - I tried from two different areas and I still get dumped to the desktop.

 

I have a suggesion - if you don't mind. If you talk to Honour instead of having a journal it might make things easier if she can tell you where you have to go, not just what has to be done. I couldn't remember the name of the tavern and it took a while to find it, especially since it's not on the main map. I did eventually find it though so it's not that big a deal.

That's a bummer. The non attacking bad guys I am trying to fix again this morning. I had this in my very first mod. characters would not attack. I have used ga_attack in many places in this mod and it works fine. It was the same in sheep and stone, out of one conversation it simply refused to work :(

 

With the transition I am also perplexed. This has only affected you to date. The basic area is my only prefab (it's from the OC) and it has caused me two very odd issues. Can i ask if you are on a mac or have some other system quirk that makes you stand out?

 

If you grab the new hak file from the download sites you will find that the journal will work and hopefully things should become clearer. 

 

Which inn could you not find, the Misty Inn? It should be map noted I will check that.

You nailed it - I'm on a Mac! I'll go look for the hak - thanks!

 

The thing I had trouble remembering was where the arch tavern was - it's not on the main map just the Warrens map.

I just checked that and it should be map noted on the Mistshore map. I will check that in game. I may have some tags mixed up.

 

I cannot recreate your crash to desktop on that area. I am going to the mac forums to see if this has a common cause.

Scrap the ga_attack and go for ga_faction _join "tag of new enemy","$HOSTILE" I've never had an issue with it.

Just a suggestion: If Karen sent you her save, you could check if you have those same issues in a non-Mac.

 

When I played the beta, I had a problem with enemies not turning hostile in a bar too, but I don't recall whether there are any other bar fights or that's the one. My character auto-attacked the gang leader and I still could advance the quest, though.

Thanks Ive forgotmypassword and Arkalezth! I don't know why these problems show up from time to time on the Mac but  it usually has to do with the haks from what I've been told. Yet I don't have problems with most of the mods and no problems with this one other than not being able to get to the Cove (I had the same transition problems with one gate in Crimmor).

 

PJ, I downloaded the new hak but haven't had a chance to load the game - a root canal got in the way today and I got home very late. I'll check tomorrow. If it isn't too much trouble, could you give me a code to teleport us to the cove and back again? It's worked for me in other games so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm not sure what you mean by code but the way point you jump to is 04_in. I am not sure if you can jump to it as it is not in the same module. The tag of the area is short so this may not be the issue? There is one other things I can do for you this evening and that is to put all the assets for this sub module into the main module and post you back a three module game.

 

Meanwhile I would be grateful if you could progress without the Hope Cove subquest and see that all the other module transitions work for you. You have already done one so I am hopeful the main story thread will work for you.

Sorry it took me a while but RL has a way of interferring!

 

Everything went as it should - Dex and Wendy have been delt with and the gangs are all in agreement. I had no problems with getting to Hawk Island and back. I stopped before going back to Maria - that will have to wait until tomorrow night. I tried to get to the Cove again and got dumped to the desktop once more.

 

I noticed a couple of things you might want to look into - In the red gate tavern there's a man named Lexis but neither he nor the bartender had anything to say. The strangest thing was that the quests were all there when I started, but after finishing Hawk Island and returning to the Guild House a bunch of the current quests were gone. I'm not sure exactly when that happened though. The only other glitch was in the Tanners' - both Honour and Arganar got stuck on the second floor and I had to leave to get them out. Everything else went without a hitch. I'm looking forward to the rest!

I had entirely forgotten the Red Gate. All the dialogue is written i just did not transfer it from excel to the game. Not sure what happened with the party in the Tanners guild. I will see if I can replicate that.

 

Sorry it's been a rough ride and thanks for the bugs.

Are you kidding? This has been a piece of cake compared to some others I've done!

 

I guess I'll be finishing up this chapter with the visit to Maria - I'll let you know how it goes. Just wanted to mention that I play on hardcore and thought the fights were difficult, but just right and the areas all look great (one of the nicest sewers I've been in lol). Thoroughly enjoyable!

Finished tonight and all went well other than not being able to get to the cove. I added an endorsement and voted at the nexus and am looking forward to continuing the campaign! Thanks for the help and the fun!
