Anyways I am starting with Mass Effect 1 because my buddies said it had the best story overall and I also thought the first would be the best place to start, so do you guys have a suggestion on what class is the most fun or which is the easiest to learn the game with? All help or input is appreciated. Thank you.

Though I don't think any of the classes is particularly weak, and I think different classes suit different people's playing styles.
In the beginning, you'll find that aiming may be difficult - you'll get better at that not only through your own experience with the game, but by upgrading your skill with the weapon you use as you level up.
You may feel overwhelmed with the options where to put your points at level up, with so many skills - know though that you level up pretty frequently, so they'll be plenty of points to spread around in the future.
I'd recommend maxing out either the charm or intimidate lines, as they open up useful lines of conversation options.

I decided to try adept, Soldier does seem very powerful but also basic and I don't want to get too bored.
Also tyvm for the welcomes, always nice to feel welcome.

Just bare in mind an adept is not a frontline fighter. Rule of thumb is to keep back, sling your powers from a distance, err on the side of defensive, and have at least one aggressive frontline fighter companion to take the heat off you.
Good luck and enjoy.

Wise choice, xNYROx. I was an infiltrator first time around. It's a great class, but no biotics (space magic) which always seemed the most fun fighting technique to me.

Yeah I have been using ashley with me and Tali for combat and Tech.

Good call. Just remember to pump Tali's Electronics and Quarian Mechanist and she's got the most shields in the game. So between her and Ashley's immunity, you have two very tough frontline fighters.
One thing I wonder...does her deryption effect my ability to unlock things also? Or what i the point of your team mates having decryption?

Yes it does. Having both Advanced Decryption and Advanced Electronics will allow you to unlock every crate, box, and terminal in the game.xNYROx wrote...

At least one person in your squad must have Advanced Decryption and at least one person must have Advanced Electronics to unlock everything. It does not matter who has the skills, so long as someone has them and is in your current squad.

One person in your party needs Master Sabotage/Master Overload (=nine points) to unlock everything.
This is exactly what I suggested in my first post. Adepts can unlock zip/zero/nada - they have to drag along someone who can.

I don't mind taking Tali along, i kind of like her.

Tali is not a bad companion (especially against synthetics), but adepts have to take her, Garrus or Kaidan if they want to unlock stuff.xNYROx wrote...

Thank you for correcting me. Not sure why I wrote "Advanced" instead of "Master". Stupid mistake on my part.caradoc2000 wrote...

Currently I use her and ashley...ashley annoys me but she is pure combat. Since I am an adept and take Tali for unlocking I needed that strong powerhouse in the group.

Ashley is indeed a very tanky companion. But if you don't like her, the most similar character is Wrex. You could give him a try out and see how you get on with him...?

When you build your team is it pretty much essential that you balance tech/biotic/combat?

I'd say that it's important to have someone with the relevant tech skills, to open and decrypt things, and someone with electronics skills especially on missions where you drive the Mako.
A party where the combat/tech/biotic fields are all covered is one that is probably going to do best overall. Though there may be some missions where having an excess of one ability or another would come in handy.
If you are playing an adept, having Tali and Wrex with you would certainly cover your bases. You might want to experiment with different parties and see which ones work for you the best.

Seems alot of people favor Wrex, so I have been giving him a shot.
I do believe Wrex is something of a fan favourite in ME1, and not just for combat though he's definitely a powerhouse there.
Not that the others don't have their fans too, of course...
As for party composition, someone with good electronics and decryption is pretty necessary for those crates and lockers (because we RPG-ers are all basically kleptomaniacs), but beyond that it's pretty up to you. A party well balanced between combat, biotics and tech is a good and adaptable party, but don't be afraid to upset those scales. A very tech-heavy group will do very well against synthetic enemies, for example. And biotics are fairly overpowered in ME1 as well - I generally find biotics-heavy groups make light work of everything.

Have not tried alot of biotic stuff really for companions...do they automatically do their biotics and tech attacks or do i have to designate everything but regular weapon firing?

You can set various power usage tactics for the AI. For example so that they use defensive powers automatically, but you activate offensive powers manually.xNYROx wrote...
