Heavy melee would be overwritten to do falcon punch.

You can still do the normal light melee and get your kit's specific heavy melee by sprinting and pressing the melee button.

We spent a lot of time talking about how we wanted to handle this, having it potentially not work on certain kits, giving flat damage bonuses, but in the end we decided on a standardized presentation across the board. It unfortunately means there are a few kits where this can override a big part of the kit (The hammer or the Talon's bow are big ones).
I'm wondering if I equip the Batarian Gaunlet on the Talon merc he would be able to grab over cover.

He can already grab over cover, but it's super finicky, and doesn't work very often. The Gauntlet might help improve it, but I couldn't say for sure without some testing.

Instead of grabbing he uses the bow.

It deals less damage than their ordinary heavy melee!

Do you hold the melee-button than you try to grab with the Talon?
If I tab the button the Talon uses his bow. If I hold it down he grabs an enemy in range.
I use a mouse shoulder button for melee but I think it works with "F" too.

On PC I couldn't tell you but on console it works if you pause for a second after pulling into cover then hold the melee button. Nemesis are almost impossible to grab, hunters pretty much always work. It's like if you do it too quickly it defaults to the bow shot. That's on console though so it may not work the same on PC?RedJohn wrote...

I havent tried, but doesn't that mean the Krolord could still do the Hammer/Biotic/Electric Strike, by chaining a light melee combo?

it's not finicky. You just have to hold the melee button when going for grabs with the TalonChris Schanche wrote...

Just tapping the "F" key, which would work for other characters, would give me the bow with the Merc.
I just wait for the "Fist of Doom" then press and hold "F" (for Fist of Doom?) and I get my grab.

So how goes the testing?
