I have no experience with modding, so sorry if this sounds preposterous. Would it be possible for anyone to create a mod that shortens every 2h sword just slightly. If not then maybe just some of the unique ones like Starfang and Yusaris that will be used the most.

I created a 2h wielding dwarven warrior a few days ago and the fact that the 2h swords are stuck into the ground is really putting me off - I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed this.

If anyone's already thought of doing this then a nod in the right direction for the mod would be very welcome.:D

Many of the weapons are oversized as it is. Arms and Armor will be addressing many of these size issues.

The weapons are generally too broad/wide/thick, but the length is moee or less OK.

Two-handers were very long. Take a look:

That really depends on the sword, though. Some later swords got pretty big, but there were many greatswords that weren't much longer than some of the larger longswords (Claymores had rather short blades at ~40-46", but comparatively long hilts).

Thanks for the replies.

The Arms and Armor mod looks to be quite promising when it's completed.

I agree with Lotion Soronnar that the 2h swords are the right length...if you're a human. What I was trying to get across was that the sizes of the weapons don't scale with the species. Dwarves are half the size of humans, yet the weapons remain the same size which results in the 2h swords being stuck into the ground if you play a dwarf.

Lotion,

Just as a point of comparison, my two practice longswords (one aluminum, one steel) are about 53" total length (40" blade, 12-13" hilt). Steel weighs in at 3lbs, and this is with a thicker blade section for safety.

One complication is the fact that unlike terms such as "longsword" and "broadsword," greatsword never specifically refered to one particular type of weapon historically. Rather, a "greatsword" was merely the largest class of swords in use during a given period of time in the middle ages. IE: during the late-13th century, a longsword with a 36" blade and 10" hilt would have been called a greatsword because it was likely the largest type of sword in use at the time. By the late-14th and into the 15th centuries when the big zweihanders appeared that out-sized even the longsword, they took on that name.

Banon,

Armor that magically scales from Qunari, to human, to Elf, to Dwarf is already cutting things a bit ridiculous. Scaling weapon models would be taking it to an absurd new level (YMMV, but the game's presentation of weaponry REALLY bugs me as it is).
