I can confirm the bug with the Boots of Avoidance reducing AC by 5 points (permanently, I think) each time they're equipped.

I'm not sure, but I think the quest to get the ankheg mail is bugged. The smith told me to return in a tenday, and it's been... well, way more than a tenday, but the plate is not ready yet.

The spell failure bug is really annoying. Apparently, it's a "feature" in that version of Kaedrin's pack and it should run off after a round after changing equipment, but my caster companions have it on pretty much all the time when in combat, wether they switch their weapons or not. Taking control of a companion with the spell failure seems to end the effect after a few seconds, but I need to control them for that, which is something I usually try to avoid.

I think Shallina said that an updated version of KPack would be hard to implement, but frankly, this bug is horrible (up there in my personal top along with the interrupting companions one). I suppose it was needed for the custom dream feats, but from my point of view, it looks like the pack adds more problems than benefits to this module. Could that particular issue be solved without the need for a full update?

Don't take me wrong; I love the module, but these kinds of bugs are frustrating.

This should get rid of the Spell Failure effect on switching gear.  Open the module in the toolset, and then open the script cmi_player_equip.  Near the top, either comment out or delete the line that says:

    DelayCommand(0.1f,ApplyEffectToObject(DURATION_TYPE_TEMPORARY, eSpellFailure, oPC, 6.0f));

Compile the script.  If the script was located in a hak file in this module, then you'll have to replace the one in the hak with this one.  I'd use NWN2packer for that.

I was about to say that I don't know how the hell use the toolset properly, but I gave it a try, just for the sake of it... and it worked! Thanks!

For the record, I didn't have to change any hak. When I compiled the script, two files were added to the KPack's folder inside the campaign folder, and that was all.

*Feels like a toolset god.*

Should I share those files as a hotfix?

Bugs to report:
- Marl won't trigger a fight with my PC. Conversation after first encounter never fires.

He works fine for me.

Bjornin's quest doesn't get updated after killing the orcs.

Infinite XP if you repeatedly talk to Melicamp after turning him back to human. Also, the golems at Thalantyr's don't attack me if I go near them.

Shoal the nereid (shipwreck area) won't talk to me after defeating her. A dialog scene triggers, but she says nothing and then it ends.

Arkushule (lighthouse area) is male. The PC refers to "him" as "dear lady".

Safana has illegal skills (too much Open Lock, etc.).

I finally got my ankheg plate armour, but now I get a new one each time I talk to the smith. Besides, I can't tell him about the contaminated iron anymore.

Well, Taerom doesn't give me any more ankheg armours, but now I get XP and a quest update everytime I talk to him about the contaminated iron.

Taerom is missing some items in his inventory, such as the Shadow Armour.

The bonuses from the Gauntlets of Weapon Skill/Expertise only work if unarmed. It's just a game limitation.

Gullykin has some ambience sounds proper of a crowded city (many people talking, etc.).

After Tenya attacks me, she doesn't stop fighting once she's injured. Also, I got the bowl from the fishermen, but I didn't have the option to give it to Tenya. Maybe fixing one thing will fix the other... or maybe not, who knows.

I can't tell Brun about his son's corpse once I've found it.

Gerde doesn't recognise that I've killed 10 ankhegs, unless the ones in the cave don't count.

A bunch of ankhegs (6 or so) attack you at once at the NE corner of the area. Not sure if this is a bug.

Strange bug: I confronted Yago in the Low Lantern, and in the middle of the fight, he turned neutral and the conversation with Cythandria at the Iron Throne in chapter 7 fired ("I don't know how you escaped my lord's trap at Candlekeep...").

Also, sometimes I can't pretend to be working for the Flaming Fist and ask him about his spell book. Dunno if this is a bug or there's a hidden bluff check somewhere.

The quest "Brielbara's daughter" doesn't update once it's completed. Same for the second part of "Narlen's proposal".

Agnasia (temple of Tymora) has a male voice.

I can't find Alora in the Hall of Wonders.

Never mind. She's there at night.

Edit: She's kinda buggy, though. If she joins my party and I talk to her, I always get the conversation where she asks to join me.

Also, she has 3 feats at level 4, but she should have 2 (just for the record, she would get one more as a strongheart halfling; I don't know which one of the halfling subraces makes more sense for her). IIRC, she has the option of becoming an invisible blade, but she has none of the required feats (which are quite a few), so you could change the ones she has so she can actually take that class at some point.

Abela the nymph's body remains in my inventory even after bringing her to Ramazith. Also, there's a clone of her in Ramazith's tower.

1) Shar-Teel (NPC) will not engage in combat. Like her AI is mucked up or something. She just stands in one spot during combat.

2) Shoal in the ship wreck coast. when I defeat her it seems her conversation will not fire. So I was not able to complete the interactions with her.

Im pretty experienced at installing campaigns, but has no one else found ankhegs to be sword wielding humans (except with a ton of HP) and when they die you get a paltry 10 xp? what in gods green planet could cause this

EDIT:

This ankheg human appeared with 2 bandits and didn't spit acid. Upon entering the ankheg cave I found real ankhegs that did really kill me. So it may be a missnamed and badly over hit pointed human bandit. It was right past ajantis

There's some other things I'll throw up, only gotten as far as Bereghost.

Khagain is lawful evil... is that right?
Silke is about ten times as hard to kill as the end boss of BG the original game. The six monster summons are okay, puts up a good fight, but shes permanent invisible and mirror imaged then re does them ad infinitum and she has a ton of HP anyway so basically you are dead dead dead no matter what you do. I am level one now as I should be but I imagine this would continue to be fruitless at level 3 and even beyond.

There is absolutely no map noteage of anything in bereghost. Since all the buildings look the same on the map its pretty brutal just trying to find an inn... ya its not very big but entering homes with rude commoners gets old with all the load times.

MAp notes appear after you enter a building for the first time.
The ankheg bug is a survivor..... It has been corrected 3 times and came back 2 or 3 versions after 3 times... I hope we got it right for the patch 1.

Silke isn't that hard. Anyway she is mapped on the Original game Silke for level and class, she is even tuned down.

Weird, I figured the map notes would appear after the tour guide guy at the start tells me about each place I can find. Silke really is that hard unless I some how have a see invis scroll but this isn't a bug... just wish there was some auto saves so I could come back later.

Good work folks.

My characters are starting to yell out random 2da strings, such as a feat description or the word "monk" when i order to attack.

EDIT: seems this fixes itself on reload. Might be worth looking at what could cause an entire 2da or tlk file to shift during a game in progress.

#2 Many icons appear on my characters in the level up feats, with no name or description and just a symbol. I figured these were removed/dissallowed feats, but they are still choosable. Is something wrong with my game? This goes double for spells.

I have to maintain the combat is far too high in difficulty... in the original game I usually came out of the mines level 1 still and beat the four hunters. In this game I come out level 3 only to find all four of them ranked as red "overpowering" and get my butt handed to me repeatedly wether I memorize any combination of spells imaginable. There are no tactics except to walk the long way around the map and avoid them.

Okay so having taking a good tour through chapter 3 I'll just post my findings (possible repeat of others) and let it simmer while the BG team collects all the reports from others as well.
  • Party members NEED to be made bumpable. While I am aware the original game blocked them somewhat, they were much smarter and responsive than this obsidian ai. Not only am I constantly being blocked when exiting buildings, my companions are too stupid to walk around each other when blocked even in wide open areas. Considering how difficult combat is this multiplies it. I often find myself manually walking companions around corpses as well to continue their battle with the remaining monsters.
  • Imoen leaves a lootable corpse
  • Characters constantly say hello when entering a new area as its loading
  • Characters re-die every time we change areas. This kind of hardcoding to keep them dead was necessary (although I did it differently) back in MOTB but in SoZ times they should be able to stay dead without this jarring manouever
  • I highly recommend using the Fog of War from the vault it has been available for a few years... it's very hard to tell where you've already been in this huge game without it. Impossible really. I would say this feature is critical to an exploration based game like this
  • My final thoughts again on combat:
A) I like hard (tactical) combat. Most people complained I was too hard on them in Islander.
B) I've resorted to playing on easy mode (I've never not been on hardcore), my party is level 3, I am unable to find suitable opponents in the random wilds that don't require multiple reloads to beat, and if I were to continue towards chapter 4, those monsters are MUCH tougher than the rag tags Im trying to find to level up on.
C) Resorting to dm cheats to keep my party alive to fight creatures that were beatable at level 1 in the original game isn't much fun at all. But that's what I find myself doing again and again. I give up at this point, as the only thing I haven't done is god mode the entire game. For now I have to hang it up on this point.

Although this is a bug report thread I can't in good conscience just leave you with a clean up report among all the great work involved. This is more true to the original than I thought possible, the short cuts weren't noticeable and there was far less "shoe horning" placeables to get the look than I would have expected. Well done.

I will revisit this game in a while for a start to finish play through.

Eguintir Eligard,it sounds like you don't have the TLK file installed in regards to feats with no description and people saying lines that don't make sense.

I thing the combat is fine. It's hard at level 1 since you can die with just about any good hit.
This is the nature of being low level.

Once you get to level 3 or 4 things should be fine.
If you have to play on easy, i would think your doing something wrong.
You should also be able to clear all the area's South of Candlekeep and West of Beregos and Nashkel if you need more xp.

If getting battered all the time ruins the game for you ( it does with me ) to ease frustration and reloads etc just console in a few goodies or give yourself some xp. It's only a game not some grim fight for survival so that's what I always do if things get too much to handle. A good thing to have is a hat that gives you haste, bung one in the campaign folder or override give it to yourself and just put it on when necessary.

I agree with  luna_hawke. Combat can be hard at the beginnning, but you have to pick your fights. I found Islander harder, actually (edit: I second Morbane's conspiracy theory).

In the case of Silke, most casters start fights buffed. I guess that can be seen as cheesy, but it's probably more realistic than the typical kamikaze fireballers who can deal some damage but die in one hit.

You're right about the feats (the tlk file must be outside the tlk folder, as stupid as it sounds), but I also get some weird lines from companions sometimes, so it doesn't seem related. I don't recall those weird lines in the latest beta (they were present in the first one), though, so I don't know why they returned.

Is there any likelihood of a bug-fix report?

(Anxiously awaiting updated files :)
