I'm having a very tough time trying to get the console for cheats for Mass Effect 2 to work and I've tried almost everything! What am I doing wrong?

Dude, just download PCCPatcher to enable the console "the easy way": social.bioware.com/project/4715/
And as far as I know, the default console key is Tab and can be changed through Coalesced.

Tried that already and tried editing the Coalescend.ini file, still doesn't work or do anything!

Are you sure that you actually found the Engine.PCC and SFXGame.PCC from your BioGame\\CookedPC and inputted the directory to respective input lines? Because most people have stumbled on this :3 (even one friend who I was helping out) One way of activating the console is to manually patch the MassEffect2.exe with hex editor. What version are you running? (v. 1.02 is the newest for ME2.exe but I guess you already have that
